  • I weigh myself once a month so I don't get too obsessed. It also helps me to feel good when the number is larger because I've waited longer  seeing you've lost 6lbs in a month is more impactful than seeing 1.5 lbs
  • I'm not going to measure it in distance or time, but I'll do it in 'sessions'. I'm doing the couch to 5k so I want to complete 3 runs a week for the remaining 3 weeks of September :)
  • I wouldn't get advice from these people, they're obviously doing something unhealthy. Slow is better than none, and slow is better than unhealthy :)
  • For me the turning point was when my doctor said my BMI was too high for the combined contraceptive pill. In England if your BMI is over 33 then you're not allowed the combined pill, and this was the first time I was ever medically too fat for anything (I'm in my 20s). Some other people have touched on this but I thought…
  • I am IBS-C and all I can say is god bless all the IBS-D people, I don't know how you cope with it.
  • I guess they want to comment on how good you look but without offending you by saying you look better after losing some weight :D
  • I've always been big so the thing for me is realising how big my old clothes were in comparison to what I need now :)
  • I can kind of understand where your doctor is coming from since weight loss can be very consuming, but if you're happy to be going to the gym and doing exercise, then that generally makes people feel better because of endorphins. I guess it depends what the source of your depression and anxiety is, but if negative body…
  • I think you shouldn't put so much stock into the "I've blown it, I'm a failure" way of thinking. Sometimes we go out with friends or Christmas happens or anything else and we end up eating a load of food, but that doesn't mean that your whole diet is ruined, you're a failure and you'll never get anywhere. Just try your…
  • I read something somewhere which said that motivation is fleeting and you should learn to make yourself do things, that is the only way you'll keep at it in the long run :)
  • I now have less hard skin on my feet :) A weirder one is that I move around more and do 'crazier' dance moves when I'm at a club with my friends!
  • My mum does Slimming World and they have 'star week', periods absolutely can mess with how much you weigh
  • You're all talk until you've actually done it, but once you've done it no one can change that or take it away from you
  • Whenever I go out with friends I always try and do 'damage control', so I'm still eating a burger but maybe with a side salad rather than chips. This is good for me because I feel like I can still eat something that I want, without hurting my calories as much.
  • Today I... am choosing to walk 45 minutes home instead of taking the train
  • When you mention your success, you're highlighting her failure. You can still mention how well you're doing, just remember other people can feel bad about themselves when others are doing better than they are/doing what they can't.
  • This is very true, and I think some people don't want to mention anything because someone might be offended by thinking they're saying they were uglier before, or something along that line.
  • Your roommate doesn't seem to know what shes talking about, and since she can't do it she's telling you that you can't do it. You should absolutely go for it and just do with your body what you want to do. Whenever I mention about doing new fitness things to my family they always say that I can't do it or that I'll hurt…
  • If there is a top or dress that you particularly like then maybe think of getting them resized, but other than that it would be best to just give them away so there is no going back :)
  • That moment when you decide you want to walk 45 minutes home instead of taking the train because it means you will get more exercise and reach your steps goal
  • It's hard when you normally look at yourself in the mirror, because you see yourself every day and its hard to see the difference. What I like to do is look back at pictures and compare them with current pictures, then you will see more of a difference :) I've only lost 19 lbs but I can already see a change from when I…
  • I'd say enjoy yourself but don't go crazy with it. When I go out I try to chose better options such as vegetarian burgers rather than meat ones, and side salads instead of chips. Enjoy yourself and don't worry too much, but try your best to do 'damage control' :)
  • Possibly boiling removes some of the sugars from the potatoes? But other than that I've no idea!
  • Wow we have the same numbers! I'm your exact height and weight! I'm a newbie but your calorie goal stands out to me. I live happily on 1,400 calories a day, so maybe lowering your calories a little will help :) and depending on what you're doing, you may be over estimating your calories :) I really hope you start losing…
  • I don't have children so this might not be a good tip, but usually if I want to eat more and I don't feel my calorie limit is enough for that day, I just try to do more exercise so I have those extra calories to eat. You could even use your time before bed to do a workout video from youtube. You can get loads which are…
  • Honestly, family is one of the hardest parts of changing your habits. Before I started calorie counting I would just ask my Mom over and over to reduce my portion sizes (because frankly, they were ridiculous) but they'd always creep up. She'd forever be buying desserts because it was 'something nice' for us to have after…
  • I love swimming :) I'm getting back into it after years and working my way back to swimming a mile :) swimming isn't even like exercise to me!
