Many of the top triathletes in the world have embraced this, Mike Pigg, Andrew McNaughton and ... even the legend, Mark Allen.

The MAF method was designed especially for fat burners. http://philmaffetone.com/future-fat-burning/

Wow!! This really cool stuff!! Thanks for sharing!!
-
Btw, I was one of those 30% showing up at marathons obese and couldn't figure out what was wrong....chronic cardio was the problem. But that was also before I got fat adapted.
-
The best advise is probably to run some experiments on yourself and see the results. My wife and I saw results rather quickly. All this comes from Dr. Phil Maffetone who wrote about this in a book coauthored with world champion triathlete Mark Allen. Here is an article from Maffetone's website:…

Two of my favorite health and fitness gurus got together for this great podcast episode. The takeaway for me is.... to improve speed, endurance, health and happiness, slow the "F" down! http://fatburningman.com/mark-sisson-the-carb-loading-myth-how-to-fuel-athletics-with-fat-advanced-heart-rate-training/

Sea salt, not commercial table salt. Per Dr. Mercola: • Processed salt is 98 percent sodium chloride, and the remaining two percent comprises man-made chemicals, such as moisture absorbents, and a little added iodine. These are dangerous chemicals like ferrocyanide and aluminosilicate. Some European countries, where water…

I read this over at MDA and it made a ton of sense to me: It's a bit of a tangled web with Cortisol, i'll point form it: - Cortisol and DHEA are produced by the adrenal glands; when one goes up the other goes down. - Testosterone is produced from DHEA - Estrogen is created from Testosterone (to balance the hormones) -…

Great info, thanks. I tend to hit workouts very hard and I can't seem to get rid of about 10# of belly fat. Sounds like, looks like...a cortisol imbalance. And yes, I have a history of sleep issues. I'm totally relooking at my whole fitness program in the light of whether or not it's jacking my cortisol and causing more…

Wow, that was shocking. Ran 4 miles at <180-my age, I turned in an average pace of 13.36 min/mile...shockingly slow since I was proud of my 8 minute mile time last week. I haven't ran that long in several years for fear of chronic cardio and it was so nice to be out for that long. Nice to totally change things up a bit.…
-
Congrats. I have a history of mile run times to compare against.
-
Thanks, plan to get out for my baseline run today. It will be interesting to see how slow I have to go. I'll let you know.
-
FYI, this method is highlighted in Mark Sissons new book, primal endurance.
-
It's really about aerobic base building. Going to start this week.
-
Perhaps I should be more clear. I'm not selling here...just asking for input from others who have actually tried it. Very not interested in opinions of those who haven't tried it.

Maybe, maybe not

Atkins was a brave genius. His book probably saved my life. I was 250 at one time with a ton of major health issues like fatty liver, leaky get etc. Even though I had lost a lot of weight the other health problems continued. Two + years ago I went full keto and they all went away. The last problem that I've recently…
-
The Atkins way then. I find 20 g a day net to work out very well myself.
-
Is that net or gross?
-
Perhaps this will be useful: http://youtu.be/_evJd_iZZzs

I gave his book to a good friend of who WAS a vegetarian and bonking on long bike ride....he is no longer a vegetarian.

-
Wow! Down 6#
-
As the primal folks say, a high protein diet is really a high sugar diet because excess protein gots converted to glucose. I just had a bad experience with too much protein and added ~ 20#. For me I've got to keep my fat high 70/20/10. Down 6 #
-
Actually I'm pretty convinced that this is not a cico issue but rather a cortisol imbalance issue. I'll get blood tests later this week and find out for sure.

Thanks "I only suggest that you embark on this process of self-experimentation if you are fairly healthy (it’s okay if you have weight to lose), if you are not consuming gallons of coffee to get through your day, if you are sleeping at least fairly well, and if you can keep your food intake relatively consistent from day…
