I understand that impatience, Jess, but quickly found no one has any patience for my impatience. Best advice I received here right off the bat, is eat normally and log everything to start. That will give you a picture of where you are really starting out and make a plan from there. Keep seeking opinions in the forum and…

So to these last two posts, are you saying this is incorrect??? I don't know myself, but have heard both theories regarding slowing your metabolism when you don't eat to boosting it with frequent small snacks. Any validity there??

Margarine is banned in my house. Also artificial sweeteners. I try to avoid food dyes, white flour and sugar. So hard with kids!!! Soda is pretty close to banned, too except ginger ale

Being 19 years old, it may be developmental, maybe bad eating habits have caught up with you?? Any changes in activity level? Did you take a sport in high school and are less active now?? You say this is a change from a year ago, is there a major life change a year or two ago??

I am new myself and can't really answer your question but you are awesome!! All that exercise and discipline with your attention to your diet sounds amazing!! Congratulations, that is no easy task!! It sounds like you just need to keep doing what you are doing and adjust as appropriate. I don't know how much weight you…

So true, I tend to get a bit enthusiastic with new plans and sooo impatient! I need to take it easy on myself and aim for a wholistic philosophy
-
Agreed! Plus that whole "clear your plate" mentality programmed from youth! That's a hard one to break, something I need to be conscious of :)
-
This is super helpful!!! Thank you :)

Hmm, ok, definitely wasn't referring to you and appreciate your knowledge. Not sure what I was projecting and not sure about the sensitivity. Definitely I gotta be careful to avoid the defensiveness or argument and just stick to the valuable insights!
-
Absolutely, ninerbuff! Tho, my response was in regards to comments which were not in response to the question. :)

Holy critical, batman...Batman should really autocorrect to a capital M :D
-
Guys, it's a work in progress!!
-
Well I don't need lower back support to exercise, so I guess I'll just use it in the meantime until I become more consistently focused on my posture :)

Listen guys, I'm not going to the extreme, I'm just looking for a little support and reminder as I begin adopting better habits which first requires some conscious thoughts and efforts. I tend to be very forgetful, so this Velcro spandex belt is a nice reminder, "don't forget to stand up straight cause we are on a mission…

Point taken, rainbowbow. I am actually referring to a Velcro "waist trainer", as the box noted, next to the yoga mats and Pilates videos. The corsets are lovely, but I'm not at that phase and don't really plan on it, so nothing extreme, just wondering about exercise related waist apparatus :) and any trimming effects. One…

Umm, ok, but why?
-
Agreed! Dehydration is a terrible thing

I'm not overthinking it or going crazy! :D I've eaten very little to nothing at various times on my life, I have studied medicine in an academic setting and have common sense. I am just a regular person of average intelligence like everyone else :) To me the definition of fasting is consuming water only, though I do…

Yes, water weight is a concern. I think it is related to salt but it also makes me think of kidneys and body processes. I'm thinking a fast may be beneficial here too, if some process is overworked, it can rest.

Awesome advice and so necessary!! Excellent point about eyeballing portions, one could be consistently miscalculating and thereafter everything is wrong!
-
And I guess trial and error for the portions, requiring a bit of dedication and forethought. Boo :|
-
Ah! The recipe builder! Thank you :)
-
Ok, well it seems like I definitely need a scale, maybe write some recipes! It would be awesome if the app allowed us to put in recipes then draw portion size from that and let the app break it down as a portion. Anyone know where that may be available?? But I don't know where to start for portion size???

Interesting! Does it help with rapid weight loss as well? Aside from weight gain, I had developed swelling! Another goal with fasting was a reintroduction of various foods noting any related body effects. Swelling in my face hands wrists and legs and ankles varying from one day to the next.
-
Also, what about ingredients in a casserole or soup? Do I really need to do all this math and scanning of labels, and adding tablespoons of vegetables at a time?? I'm into it now, but it may get to be a bit much.
-
Great idea, Emma! And yes to the comments noting a punishment element to this particular fasting plan, reading your comments I realize it's true! This advice is very helpful, thank you!!
-
I think you're right! Now that I read you're post, I recall the last time I didn't eat, I drank one "health shake" per day and nothing else for a week, and saw basically no difference. I really needed this reality check! :)
-
Well, I have fasted from 2-7 days a few times in the past, and rest assured I could likely lay on the couch unconscious for 3 days and as long as the Internet was going strong and there were hot pockets in the freezer and chips and cereal in the cupboards, the children would be just fine and not even notice

Paula, you're brilliant!
