  • @workaholic_nurse Oh, you should do it too! Someone I am going with is doing the 2 halves. She is trying to get in 50 half marathons before her 50th birthday. I though about doing a half and then a full but my crazy overachiever running brain is telling me I NEED to do the 2 full marathons. That part of my brain always…
  • Yeah, the entire City of Austin has been on a boil water notice because the debris from flooding is impacting the water treatment facilities. They have not said when it will be fixed (not today and probably not tomorrow?). Its a great day to be a water seller. The grocery stores are completely wiped out of bottled water. :/

  • If you do not like to run with a hydration belt, this hydration strategy might work well. It will solve you flute and cork problem... ;)

  • @MegaMooseEsq Good luck on the half on Sunday! You totally got this! FYI - I love following a pacer. Not only do I get to hear someone’s “running life” story, but it gives me modivation to keep going when I loose all “umph”. About the toe socks, I just “can’t even” get comfortable with stuff between my toes. I look at…
  • Woot! Congrats @hesn92 ! You will be crushing that 5k distance in no time. Are you signing up for a 5k race? That’s the fun part. :)

  • @PastorVincent You are not the only one. I am currently trying to shed the 20 pounds I regained (again) this year. I would like (and will) to get back down to 130 pounds before the Miami marathon in January. If only I could continually train for a marathon and not break my 40++ year old self..... Dieting is HARD. Running…
  • @Avidkeo You only get one chance to run this race (this year anyway). You have the rest of forever to shed that last little bit of weight. :) Congrats on the huge 48 pound loss!!!! I am also 150 pounds and 5’3”. I would not use “average” to describe me. ;) I eat a regular diet before races. My stomach is weird when i run.
  • Haha! @shanaber and @eleanorhawkins I went to the site looking for a link to that shirt. Next thing I knew, I had $268 of stuff in the cart. I quickly closed the browser window down before I got myself in trouble - lol. They have a lot of cute Halloween racing stuff. :)
  • @eleanorhawkins The shirt exists :) https://www.goneforarun.com/womens-performance-tank-top-i-run-to-burn-off-the-crazy/tr-21802-AM-PINK.html?cgid=gfar&gdffi=b9dd9b5a59494c85b8d99d8b79cf0558&gdfms=4B82B0923E704B469A219BDC6970FA9F&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqv21jKyL3gIVibXACh0YTgAgEAQYAiABEgJIifD_BwE
  • Thanks @shanaber! My immediate area is currently soggy but okay. There are just a few road and creek crossings closed due to flooding. However, an hour south from us is being evacuated due to the river flooding. A bridge just collapsed from all the water.

  • I ran straight through my last marathon and almost died at the end. I am training with run/walk intervals for my next one. It really is making me faster on those long 14+ mile runs (fast for my old lady slow-poke self). After experimenting this summer, I now set my watch for a 1.5 mile warm up run, then a one minute walk…
  • It depends on how long your runs are and how hot it is where you live. Are you bringing water with you when you run? It might help. :) I live in the humid hot mess of Texas and I am a “super sweaty” runner. I have to be very careful with hydration when it is hot out (it is always hot where I live). I start hydrating the…

  • Monthly question. 1) With holiday's coming up and the return of cooler or warmer weather. What's your stragedy mitigating the particular challenges you face these last few months of the year? These next few months will be heaven compared to the last few months. The temps are FINALLY dropping a little bit. 2) pretend for a…

  • Thanks! Yes, it was the day of the plumbing issues. No, that was not the reason I did not hydrate correctly. Tuesday was just a crazy busy day at work. I think all I drank was a few cups of coffee and a glass of wine with dinner. A long run in the heat and humidity the next morning pushed me into dehydration. My fault.
