  • @Elise4270 Surgery... ugh. Thank god I am not that bad. Sorry you had to go through all THAT. I am terrified of surgery....😬 @shanaber I visit PT on Monday and I will find out what I am allowed to do. Hopefully, something? Swimming? Rowing machine? We shall see. This is so frustrating!
  • @shanaber Thanks. I am down for a least 2-3 months. I am half way through 1 week on touch down weight bearing with crutches. They are trying to make everything calm down. The doctor said my hip is “very angry” at me. Crutches are such a pain! I feel like I can’t do anything! After crutches I start physical therapy for a…
  • Hello Crazy Running Peeps! I have been absent from MFP and this group because of sheer exhaustion from my insane running weekend. I finished the Mittens Challenge!!! Not fast & not pretty. But I did it! I only lost three toenails and the ability to walk downstairs. Oh, I also lost the ability to step up into the bathtub…
  • I am 300 posts behind. I have been running/tapering but not recording here. I am starting to have SERIOUS panicky doubts about next weekend. I don't know if I have 2 marathons in me. I seriously overestimated my abilities in signing up for this. Someone tell me this is not going to kill me. Ugh. Upcoming Races: 5/4 =…
  • I am particularly fond of the first two. :)

  • Nap weather!!! The storms hit in my corner of Texas this morning and it’s still pouring. It’s a rest day for me with no work. I am still in bed in my pajamas at noon. I plan on doing nothing the rest of the day and it will be amazing. Can you tell I am burnt-out? 😂
  • OH, please let me know if you figure it out. I either need to figure out a way not to sleep or figure out a way to clone myself.
  • WHY did Apple do this?!?!? I've had my iPhone for years and the headphone thing still takes me by surprise (AKA pisses me off). I can't listen to music in my car at the same time as I charge my phone! UGH Apple and their stupid custom accessory and expensive dongle things. I am buying an Android next time JUST because of…

  • Congrats @midwesterner85 & @mbaker566 on your marathons! A marathon is a grueling thing even in the best of circumstances. You guys are amazing for fighting through in less than ideal conditions. :)
  • That sounds really good running advice. LOL Congrats on your race! :)

The race route was all gorgeous rolling hills and…
  • @mbaker566 Are you feeling better today?
  • Oh... nice! I bought this one and tried it for the first time today. I filled the bladder with ice and it stayed cold for my whole run! It was amazing. Plus, it has lots of pockets for my phone, trail map and keys. I love new toys :)
  • Ugh.... sorry @mbaker566. The most important thing is to listen to your body. You only get one. If its just a snotty cold, I would power through (really, really, slowly). However, I would not try to run a marathon with a high fever -- Live to fight run another day.
  • I forgot about chiggers...ugh. And fire ants. The fire ants were super busy building on the trail I ran today. Funny story about when I first moved to Texas. I found out that cockroaches FLY down here. One landed in my hair the first time I tried to walk on a green belt after moving south. I did not go outside for a…
  • 3/1 = rest/dying from weekend overload day 3/2 = 3 struggle/sore recovery miles 3/3 = rest day 3/4 = 8 miles 3/5 = 6 miles Welp, pre-summer is officially here. Temps in Austin hit a high of 91F yesterday and the humidity was 97% when I started my run this morning. Like running draped in a hot, wet, wool blanket. Oh, and…
  • Yes, ditto! Congrats @rusgolden. That is an amazing time. :) And congrats @zdyb23456! I just read your post about PRing on your half in March. :)

  • In Central Texas the only things we have to really worry about are:* Diamond Back Rattlesnakes * Coral snakes * Water Moccasin snakes * Western Cottonmouth snakes * Copperhead snakes * mountain lions * scorpions * Texas red-headed centipedes * Black Widow spiders * Brown Recluse spiders * poison oak * poison sumac * poison…
  • @rheddmobile {hugs} i am sorry. I take meds for an autoimmune disorder that keep me a slave to my doctor’s office lab tech. Thankfully, I am blessed with a job who provides good insurance. The USA health care system sucks... 🙄 RE: hormone discussion Peri-menopausal here #hostagetohormones I never thought I would say…
  • Ditto! Happy birthday @Elise4270 ! Trying to catch up on this thread. Also ditto. I hope your Achilles’ tendon is healing quickly @7lenny7 @PastorVincent I am getting conflicting advice about a double 20 mile weekend. One person in my running group says I should do it and two others are telling me it will just put too much…
  • 3/1 = rest/dying from weekend overload day 3/2 = 3 struggle/sore recovery miles I am 130 posts behind. I already feel like I have failed... lol I feel like I am in uncharted territory with training. How do I even taper? And when? I briefly considered doing a double 20 mile training run next weekend but my double 18s talked…

  • @amirahdaboss Those pictures look bad!!! Was the teenager in car that crumpled like tinfoil? You mentioned they rammed you. Ugh, I hope your back feels better and everyone is okay. How scary!!!
  • I run, and train for, marathons with a 1 minute walk break every 1/2 mile when doing solo runs. I walk the water stops during races as well. I also run with a group once or twice a week that does 3 min run / 1 minute walk intervals. It really does help reduce wear and tear on the body when running really long distance.
