Oh no! Does anyone remember her username? I tried to go back and look but this thread is so busy. I would love to send her a friend request and encouraging message. I had pretty much given up on the MFP forums until I found this challenge. People seemed so hostile in a lot of the forum posts. It is so demoralizing when you…

@RunsOnEspresso Didn't you say you were from Arizona? One of the ladies in my running group developed heat stress this morning. We complained for most for the run about this: Someone mentioned it couldn't be worse so (to prove them wrong) I looked up the temperature in Arizona. OMG - You "win" the crappiest summer running…

That is awesome! Meeting new crazy runners is always a fun adventure. :)

That looks amazing! Probably because I never have to run in it - LOL. It never gets cold enough to snow in Texas (at least the part of Texas I live in). If it even threatens to ice over the whole state shuts down in panic. I have never run when fluffy wet stuff is falling from the sky. I wouldn't even know how...

Ditto, I agree. This is terrible advice. I ran through peroneal tendinitis and ended up with crutches and a boot for weeks.

I gained weight training for a marathon. I was running 40-50 miles a week plus yoga and strength training. My appetite increased exponentially as my miles increased. Apparently, I CAN’T outrun a bad diet. Maybe it’s different for others.

Ditto with the autoimmune problems. I take meds on occasion to stop my immune system from freaking out. It makes me a paranoid germaphobe. I usually pass on all the free runners fuel and bring my own. Except for needed water & orange slices... I remember orange slices being like little hydration / glucose / yummy flavor…

Potato balls rolled in salt sounds like amazing race food. I saw someone mention pineapple —Have you guys ever had it spinkled with a little cayenne pepper & salt (sometimes grilled that way)? I imagine the salt and sugar combo would be awesome at an aide station.... (Runs off to cook a baked potato for lunch with a side…

Don't think of it as excessive sweating. Think of it as having an very efficient cooling system. :)

@shanaber Yes, the Mizunos seem to wear out faster than NB shoes. I am only on my second pair so we shall see if the trend continues. I am glad to see my toenails again. I missed having all 10 of them. :) I am feeling better this evening. I have run through 3 Texas summers but I have never had the heat effect me as badly…

Wait... I thought a true keto diet was limited to 20 grams of carbs a day. How would a "vegan keto" diet even be possible? What would a daily food menu look like? I am truly curious...no diet shaming or lectures from me. I just don't understand how its possible? I recently went vegetarian (again) and, since I am also…

Question for sweaty runners and heat stress issues: Apologies if this is TMI... I am pretty sure I gave myself some kind of heat stress on my run this morning. Either that, or I got some kind of very short lasting illness. I got very weak at mile 11 out of 12 - stomach cramping, nausea, GI upset, LOTS of sweating, foot…

@RunsOnEspresso I have a running friend that occasionally has plantar issues. She freezes a water bottle and rolls the bottom of her foot a couple of times a day. She says it helps.

Gin & tonic water (the real stuff-not that nasty diet tonic water crap) with a splash of lime juice!! It’s my jam now on my long run days when I have the extra calories. I used to be a wine and beer drinker. I can’t afford the calories but I miss a good heavy stout porter or quality dry red wine. :/

I have a “firework phobic” dog as well. The first 7/4 after adopting him we went out to a friend’s party. We came back a few hours later... he ripped the wall-to-wall carpet in the hallway up and to shreds. Stupid expensive lovable oaf...
