This just occurred to me-- I was under the impression that when you go on a calorie restricted diet that the first week of weight loss is mainly water weight and that when you start eating at maintenance you will regain a few pounds because the glucose will need to refill. So, I'm just wondering if you were already dieting…

Mary, thanks for sharing this because that's what I was concerned about. But I am fine as long as I understand and know what to expect. I will read the article but the concept make sense. Except that I feel like I am burning actual fat. LOL!

I have drop a total of 3.2 pounds since starting last Tuesday. I awoke this morning to another 1.2 lbs loss.

Glad to hear it Amy. Hang in there as you doing great in spite of challenges that arise. You got this! You are going to be so proud of yourself when Week 20 get here.
-
Mary, glad you pointed this out because you reminded me of another point that I wanted to share. So for 4 weeks prior, I'd been having to take care to only eat 1,200 calories per day in order to drop 1 lb per week. I know it's very early with this keto diet but I was pleased when I saw that I still lost 2 lbs even though I…

Thanks Mary! I will take a look at the article but all my testing has been in the morning immediately upon rising.

Wow, so much excitement here. I have been in ketosis for 5 days already. Have lost 2 lbs so far and actually loving the food. I had my first FAT BOMB about 10 minutes ago. I made them last night (1/2 c. cacoa, 1/2 c. coconut oil, 64 gm crunchy organic peanut butter, and little stevia.) OMG, I did not expect it to taste so…

I was officially in ketosis (a trace) last Wednesday after 1 day of low carbs. I've continued for a total of 5 days and am solidly in ketosis with only 1 darker color remaining. Not intentionally aiming for that as it just happened and deepens each day. Should I add more carbs if it does hit the last color on the keto…

Just so hard for me to believe -- this is completely new to me but I am liking it.

Thank you Iwhayes. This morning the stick showed keto level between 40 and 80 which is between moderate and large. The other thing that surprised me was that it turned immediately to that color. Didn't need to wait 15 seconds. In addition, I dropped another pound. I guess it has to be water because we can't metabolize fat…

Week: 5 Workout: #3 Squat 70 lb 4 × 6 Bench Press 58 lb 4 x 6 Lat Pulldown 60 lb 4 x 6 Can't believe I've already completed the last workout for the start of 2nd 4 weeks. You guys, these weeks are truly flying by. What will you look like at the end of week 20? I am constantly reminding myself of this fact when I want to…

Wow Mary, you ARE DEDICATED! You go girl! Glad you did not feel any pain during the workout. It's funny that your "light" OHP is higher than my heavy and only 1 pound lighter than my previous heavy. Strength "gaining" is indeed fun and rewarding.

Just reading that it could possibly be fat loss makes me super giddy!

Yesterday Fats: 70% Protein:16% Carbs: 28 gms / 14% Also, definitely in ketosis according to the keto sticks. Also, show 1 pound loss already enough though I'm sure it's just water.

Oh no Amy! I hope it's not too serious. Keep us posted. Be careful team Finish_No_Matter_What.

Yesterday, Carbs 16, Fat 73, Protein 35. (It was a low calorie day due to the very high calorie day the day before) I just made the decision to go all in as of yesterday. Hopefully I do not experience the keto flu.

lwhayes, thanks for the warm welcome. Things got a bit challenging when I tried to take on too many projects at once. But I am back on track and look forward to learning something new from this way of eating. Looks like you'v manage to hang in there. Looking forwarding to reading posts from you again.

Thanks Klove! The great thing is that you've analyzed your progress and now you can tweak as needed. Look forward to seeing your next 4 week results. Mary, reading your post I almost felt as if I could feel your pain. I love watching your progress because you are powerhouse which I find very motivating. I hope it gets…

I bought stevia drops and powder a couple of days ago. I didn't realize they had stevia chocolate drop. I've got to come up with at least one good dessert that I can be okay with. But I am also excited about not have any sugar for several weeks. I'm not a coffee drinker (once in a while use it to suppress appetite) but…

I printed these out because I certainly was not aware of some of them. I can't wait to see how the first week goes. Thank you for sharing this information.

Great job on your results Cherrybomb. Mary, that is awesome as I probably can't do but 5 push ups before muscle failure. I might have you beat on the sweet tooth. OMG, that's how I earned all my extra pounds. I am so proud of myself for only consuming unrefined sweets since day before New Years Eve. But I have to confess…

Thanks Mary as that was very helpful for me to read.

Mary, OMG you really increased in strength. It's so cool to see the progress in just 4 weeks. It's also cool how although we gained weight we did not lose all of our strength. I love that and treasure my beautiful muscle beneath the fat. I am definitely preparing for this keto thing. I even bought the keto sticks today.…

Wow Mary, you are so darn helpful. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't stop reading the site. This has increased my motivation.

Count me in. Haven't read all the posts but I am probably the only one that's doing it on a vegan diet.

Fanncy, I am just now noticing that your 4 week results was included as part of this post. I thought they were goals and decided to go back to see if I missed your post of the 4 weeks. And I did. Your inches lost were great also. Great job on the weight loss. We all did great on that one. I can't wait to see what we all do…
