  • I'm also 5'2" just turned 40 years old last week. I started December 1st at 225 lbs. Currently 154 lbs. Using MFP and fitbit. I want to loose another 15 lbs or so. But I've switched gears and I'm going for a. 5 lb a week or so loss goal. Doing a 1,000 calorie deficit for 9 months is enough and I want to focus more on…
  • I've had my zip since mid December. https://www.fitbit.com/user/3X79W3 I'd be lost without it! Such a great eye opener to my activity level. Paying close attention to my Fitbit TDEE and using the MFP to log foods I'm loosing about 2 lbs a week. almost to my first mini goal.
  • I agree it also depends on your food. I know with my fitbit I usually come in close to 10,000 steps at the 3 mile mark (Just looked I'm at a lazy 7,000 steps so far today and 2.5 miles). Anyhow, the American Heart Association recommends 10,000 steps a day for health. You can do walking only and loose weight though. 99% of…
  • okay. I think I have it set to sedentary in Fitbit. Mostly what I'm trying to do is make sure my calories in is ~ 1000 less than what it says I burned (remember I've got a LOT to loose) and I'm by no means going hungry. I firmly believe if I'm hungry than I eat. I think in part I want to know for my own satisfaction. This…
  • I have tried the EAS one and really enjoyed it. I go for Dark Chocolate.
  • You can get the fitbit Zip pretty inexpensive. I find it better than an app on my phone since the phone app requires it to be on my body at all times, holding it in your hand will not count. The thing to remember with the fitbit is when it counts calories it takes into account your step based activity and your BMR. Which…
  • Considering I'm over 100 lbs over weight, yes 1 to 2 pounds per week is quite reasonable.
  • I have and know how to use a food scale. My daughter was previously on the Ketogenic diet for her severe Epilepsy. I've had to weigh every single food item she consumed to the 10th of a gram - with zero exceptions.
  • Thanks! Its gonna be a long process. I think part of my guilt is the fact my body is so incredibly sore and tired today I just can't motivate myself to do what I've been pushing myself to for the past week (nothing too strenuous, but even moderate exercise is a lot when you've been a couch potato)
  • So far I've lost at the pace I want to, but its super early into my dieting (roughly Dec 1 start). I just want this to be something I can keep up. Setting too high a goal is a set up for failure. I know I really need to loose a lot more to be the ideal weight for my height, but I have a goal of 50 lbs. (25 lbs is my…
  • I'm 5'2" and 221 lbs (39 years o ld) mostly sedentary (although recent increase working towards being more fit. increasing walking and just plain moving all day) Based on http://www.bmi-calculator.net my BMR is 1724.45 I'm having one of those super hungry days, plus my body is sore and grouchy from all the walking/moving…
  • Lots of factors, love of food and lazy #1 years ago I was on a form of Birth control that added around 20 lbs - again there is the lazy factor that I never did much. the typical, gaining a few pounds a year (or more - based on that love of food) and for the past 10 years its been largely that I am the parent of a child…
