I'm walking over 2 1/2 miles every day and I still haven't seen any weight loss. Does anyone know how long it might be before I noticed some weight loss ???

It really depends on what you are eating and what size you are. A very average rule of thumb I have seen is 100 calories a mile (there are lots of calculators that will be more accurate). If you are eating at precisely maintainance without walking you would lose 1/2 pound a week with walking. But 250 calories isn't a lot of wriggle room if you aren't monitoring your food intake0

I agree it also depends on your food.
I know with my fitbit I usually come in close to 10,000 steps at the 3 mile mark (Just looked I'm at a lazy 7,000 steps so far today and 2.5 miles).
Anyhow, the American Heart Association recommends 10,000 steps a day for health.
You can do walking only and loose weight though. 99% of my exercise is walking (some light jogging in place/laps around the house). But I'm also pairing it with calorie deficit, based on my TDEE.0 -
Depends on your diet. You may burn a couple hundred calories walking 2 1/2 miles, that's real easy to eat back up and then some. If you're not in a caloric deficit you won't lose weight no matter how far you walk.0

That depends on how much calories you have taken, but i suggest you try dancing or aerobics or belly dancing i lose much weight when dancing dancing consumes more calorie than walking and its not exhausting.0

I tried dancing but my dogs weren't good partners and the neighbors thought it was weird.0

Walking doesn't = weight loss.0

Also, it depends on how much you've always walked. If you're heavy and already walking several miles a day, well... There's your answer!
Now I don't like to hear walking dissed for weight loss because it is 'activity'. You just might need more of it, or at a higher intensity. When I started MFP I tracked my walking & figured out I already got 10k steps a day. I began to eat within my recommended calorie range and upped my walking to a 100k steps a week goal. I lost weight. Gradually I added zumba, yoga, and weight training to the mix. My extra walking turned into more rugged hiking. But I still don't run or do cardio machines, period. And I do lose weight. So don't give up on walking. But understand you will need to control your calories and exert yourself beyond your current overweight status quo to create a deficit.0 -
Why would you think walking by itself will cause weight loss?
If you're walking to the local Baskin Robbins and get a double scoop cone you will actually gain weight.
It's all about the balance between calories eaten vs. calories burned.0 -
It's related to what you're EATING.
Good for you for walking, it's great for you but what are you eating?0
