Yes. Huge motivator. The worst part of a mirror for me was buying (or almost buying) something and the mirror screams how “horrible” I looked.
-
CONGRATULATIONS! That’s a huge accomplishment.
-
I get it! No need to clarify. I used to watch the biggest loser back when I worked out everyday, for motivation. It definitely is motivational to see people lose weight so quickly.
-
I’m going to be honest. I don’t work out much. Weight loss, in my experience, is 80% food, 20% fitness.
-
@maureenkhilde you can do it! I believe in you. I don’t know if you’re a religious person or not, but in my experience, prayer really helps.
-
This part resonated with me so much. Someone took a picture of me from the side while I was seated... I almost cried looking at that picture. Even though I’ve lost 20 lbs, I still feel über uncomfortable when people take pictures of me.
-
Legitimate reason. Lol, I’ve had a day or two like that.

@lauralea1999 Oh goodness. That’s amazing! Dogs are just the ultimate buddies at everything. My little sister’s dog was the same way. It’s a wiener - pitbull (weird combination but she’s a rescued pet). That poor thing’s belly almost hit the floor. After portioning, she’s doing so well. It’s amazing how dogs can be so…

Wow! Keep it up. Any progress is better than no progress. I’m so happy for you. I wish you nothing but success!
-
That’s a great reason. I had that epiphany when I was trying to polish my toenails. I literally lost my breath for a few seconds. Lol. Keep up the good work!
-
Oh my gosh, YES! Clothes! 80% of my clothes don’t fit. But I refuse to buy more because I think I’ll get complacent at this weight. I hope I can get to the point of exercising again like you, but right now I just get disappointed that I can’t do the things I used to.
-
That’s honestly amazing. I’m so proud of you. I hope everything has and will turn in your favor with having kids.
-
Definitely. We are all uniquely different. & yes, I can understand the weight standards. The most comfortable I’ve ever been was 138. Anything over that feels disheartening (especially the 200s). Glad to hear your motivation. I hope you keep up the great work!
-
Wow, oh my goodness. That’s definitely a good reason. Based on your ability to comment, I’m assuming all is well!
-
Those are some really good reasons. I haven’t heard of the weight restriction for blood donations before, but that’s really unfortunate. I hope you can continue to push through and hit your goals. Those babies (kids) need you! Much love!
-
I can understand that. My current wardrobe is sweatpants and leggings with an oversized T-shirt. I hope you continue to get through this. Well wishes!
-
Wow, I’m so proud of you. That’s insane! AND you did it without weight loss surgeries (nothing against them). That’s impressive. Well wishes on your continued health journey!
-
Thank you. I definitely wish being 70 lbs lighter and several inches taller were the case. Looks can definitely be deceiving. Most of my weight is in my tush, thighs, and boobs. That’s why I allowed my weight to get out of control; I didn’t see it necessarily.
-
I’ve struggled with keeping my BP down too. Mostly when my diet is out of control. Wish you the best of luck!

Please stop. This has gone on long enough. I have not scolded anyone. I have however said that a question seems rhetorical and is unhelpful. I also thanked everyone for their time and effort.

@PAV8888 the conversation ended hours ago. I did not say that I thought it was beneficial to humans. I just wanted thoughts and opinions that were based on facts about the subject. As mentioned in the original post, it was a topic of discussion in a health class of mine. I appreciate your willingness to respond, however,…

These posts always get out of hand. I appreciate everyone’s responses and helpful answers, however, I’ll make this the last time I post in these discussion boards. So, no need for any further responses here.
-
You asked seemingly rhetorical questions and the tone of your response appeared sarcastic. Also, yes, the questions were unhelpful when I was already asking a question. How could I possibly have answered any? Regardless, I’ve gotten the answers I need. I appreciate your time and effort in this response. Have a good day.…

Yea, I pretty much feel the same way. I’ve only really ever fasted for religious purposes, but not a complete fast (no food). More like, no meats or sweets for 40 days. I have no experience with the health reasons for doing it.
-
I appreciate your well thought out and articulate response. I’ll be sure to reference some of your links for my own research.
-
Thank you, if I get some free time today, I’ll be sure to watch a video or two.
-
Thank you. I’ll keep an open mind and check it out.
-
So, what I’ve pretty much gathered today, there’s no actual internal benefits to fasting. It’s either a religious or weight loss based. Thank you! I was really wondering.
-
That’s ridiculous. I hope someone informed them that dogs eat when they’re hungry in the wild. They don’t “fast for longevity.”
-
Haha, EXACTLY! I don’t see how people do it.
