  • You look amazing! Thanks for reminding us all that hard work pays off!
  • I also have come to the conclusion that the only thing that works for me is counting calories. And if I want to keep the weight off, I have to keep counting.
  • This isn't good advice. My husband has maintained a healthy weight most of his life and he rarely weighs himself. You know how to lose weight and you have been very successful. Congratulations!
  • Way to go!
  • Add me - I have been on MFP for all of 2016
  • I'm a 39 year old working mom of a 15 month old. I am 32 lbs. into my 80 lbs weight loss goal. I also stalled out over the summer but I maintained which I am happy about. I'm looking for friends who are on here regularly. Anyone feel free to add me.
  • I started on MFP when my daughter was 7 months. I added 300 calories a day for breastfeeding since she was eating solids daily. I slowly decreased my breastfeeding calories add-on until she was about 13 months. She is still nursing a few times daily but I am back at work so she is mostly on solids now. I lost 30 lbs so…
  • I don't understand how this became a parent vs non-parent debate. Since I became a parent, I've found non-parents to be understanding and kind. Judgemental parents, like you, are what creates an ugly environment for the other parents. That's fabulous that you are against the American diet. I am sure you grow your own food…

  • Why do you think macaroni and cheese is junk food? I make it from scratch for my daughter - pasta, milk or cheese aren't junk. Food is neither good or bad - it's fuel for our bodies. If you eat too much food, you can gain weight or have other negative health consequences. I am trying to teach my daughter that you can have…

  • Anything you could do to lose another 13 lbs. in a month could also make you sick. You don't want to get sick in another country - not only would you be dealing with another country's medical system, you would also ruin your vacation. Aim for 4-5 lbs weight loss before you leave and enjoy your vacation.
  • You can lose weight without being so extreme. The reason you've regained so much weight is you chose a weight loss method that wasn't sustainable for you in the long-term. If you read the stories from people here who have been maintaining their weight loss for years, you'll see a few things in common. They found a way of…
  • Have you ever lived in a small town? People behave very differently then they do in bigger cities. A lot of obnoxious behaviour is tolerated or encouraged if that's how long time residents behave. I would hope the management would take a complaint like this seriously but it depends on the business owner.
  • I am nursing a 13 month old. I started counting calories when she was 7 months old and set my goal as 1 lb/week. I was already below my pre-pregnancy weight when I started on MFP. I lost about 30 lbs by the time she was 1. I ended up maintaining for most of June after I went back to work - life as a working mom is…
  • You have had great results - congratulations! You mention that you work out but you haven't said anything about your diet. You need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Exercise will burn calories but it's more for cardiovascular health, stress relief and it may maintain your lean body mass depending what you do. You'll need…
  • I am nursing a 13 month old. I didn't try to lose weight until she was 7 months old and taking some solids. I set a weight loss goal of 1 lb/week. I lost 29lbs by the time she turned 1. If you aren't losing, you are eating more than you think. Invest in a food scale - it's a game changer when it comes to weight loss. I am…
  • I was a vegetarian in my early 20s and that's when my weight gain started. There are plenty of high calorie options on a vegetarian diet.
  • I am sure your wife made an offhand comment and she didn't intend to be unsupportive. It depends how long you've been heavier and if she has seen your weight go and down a few times while you've known her. It may take her a little time to get used to the new you. As another poster said, point out to her that what she said…
  • We are all telling you to get professional help. You will make yourself very sick with what you are doing to yourself. Please see your doctor and be completely honest about how you've been eating and exercising.
  • My goal is also 1 lb a week overall. I have been counting calories for 24 weeks and I have lost 30 lbs. so far. Nothing wrong with slow and steady!
  • You've lost about 1 pound a week. That's a healthy weight loss pace. It sounds like your metabolism is working just fine. You may need to adjust your expectations if you are still thinking as though you are crash dieting.
  • I agree with this. You could be prolonging your recovery period by dieting when your body needs nutrients and energy. If your body is going through such extreme energy changes, it is telling that this isn't working well for its needs. I did Atkins many years ago and I don't recall anything like what you are describing.…
  • Feel free to add me - I've been using the app for 5 months and lost 30 lbs so far. I log everything.
  • I'm breastfeeding my 1 year old and still losing weight. I started using MFP when my daughter was 7 months old and added 300 calories for breastfeeding. My goal is to lose 1 lb per week and I've lost 32 lbs since then. Now that she is 1, I add 150 calories a day for breastfeeding. I eat around 2000 calories a day,…
  • Sometimes people make comments because they think they are being flattering. You are right that some could be jealous especially if they struggled with their weight too. I am your height and my goal is currently 140 lbs. Once I am there, I expect I'll want to lose a bit more until I am satisfied with how I look. Don't…
  • As another poster said, you already are at a healthy weight for your height. Getting down to 105 lbs at your height puts you very close to being underweight. This could cause your period to become irregular or even temporary infertility. If your goal is to be fitter, you can look at strength training, fitness classes or…
  • I'm a 38 year old with a 1 year old daughter. I've lost 45 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I started on MFP almost 30 lbs. ago and I have another 50 lbs. to go. Feel free to add me.
  • I'm still losing weight but I expect to always have loose skin around my stomach when I'm done. I had an emergency c-section a year ago after a difficult pregnancy with my rainbow baby. I am grateful to have her and to be getting healthy.
