It was a bear after about mile 16. My calves started to really tighten up. And this course was pretty hilly. Took a few short breaks to stretch my legs and just carried on. The half is definitely my bread and butter long distance race.

I finished with a time of 5:26:11.

Putting myself out there again as a mentor. A little about myself. I started off a little over 2 years ago right at 400 pounds. As of today I am at 205 pounds. I have completed two half marathons and looking for my first full marathon and triathlon in 2018. I would particularly be willing to help individuals that are…

Started my journey in October 2015 @ my official starting weight of 396.2 pounds. But before that I spent a good deal of time in the 400-415 pound range. Now I'm at 210 pounds and completed my second half marathon this past weekend with a PR of 2:14:14. I'm signed up for my first full marathon in April 2018.

Thanks. And I notice my smile now in my photos also. It's still weird to like to view photos of myself when for many years I never wanted to look. But now not only do I see a smaller person, but a much happier one as well.

MFP featured me as part of their Victory stories yesterday. I'm pleased as punch how it turned out. Hope to inspire many more to drop the weight and live a healthier life. http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/this-gamer-stopped-playing-with-his-health-and-became-the-get-fit-geek/

Four year ago at the Dr's office I had a blood pressure reading of 237/132 and was immediately put on HPB meds. Today I'm completely off of them and this morning my BP was 115/55

It was two years ago today that I had my second bout of cellulitis and was admitted again to the hospital. It was after this that I decided it was high time for me to make some changes and lead a healthier life. Soon after this I got an Apple Watch as an early Christmas and birthday gift and changed my diet. Now two years…

I don't drink a lot but found out just how many calories are in a drink this past 4th as I celebrated with a couple of Harry's Orange soda. That thing has like 250 calories per bottle.

I'm willing to take on a few noobs. Been on my weight loss journey for 22 months and have lost 175+ lbs. Getting close to my goal weight. I like to run, bike, swim and am a huge tech nerd. If you would like straight talk about fitness from a gay man that has climbed to the top of the mountain and rolling down the other…

Ditto that. I used to make fun of my husband because he was cold all the time while I was always comfortable or on the warm side. Now that I have lost 180 lbs I'm cold all the time. I can't stand to be under an air vent during the summer with the AC now when in the past it was my favorite place to sit. Even in a swimming…

This is going to sound bass ackwards but my husband is a chubby chaser. When we met I was about 310 lbs. And that was small for him but I won him over with my personality. Over the years I got up over 400 lbs. Now that I'm 220 lbs the love is still there but the attraction is completely gone for him. In fact people that…

I can fit into large size t-shirts. Not bad considering I was wearing 4xl's two year ago.

I took a different view of my plateaus as I was losing. I looked at it from the point of view that my body was adjusting to the shock of eating at a deficit for a long period of time and the extra calories it was burning. I hit about 4 plateaus while I was losing weight. They lasted for 1-3 weeks on average. But they were…

I am squishy around the mid section and in-between the thighs. But it's not terribly bad at this point. I have a pretty large amount of solid body mass (180 lbs) so that has helped out a lot. Now that I'm pretty close to my goal weight I'll give it a year to see how my skin bounces back. I did this at a 2 lbs a week rate…

I weight in everyday with my Withings scale that syncs to MFP and Apple Health. My "official" weight is my weekly average calculated every Sunday.

Be careful when pulling calories from online. Most of the time it's total calories and not active calories. If you log them as such then you are getting double credit for the passive calories already built into your budget. Each of these activities probably contain an hours worth of passive calories which would be…

Get tested for OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) if you are severely overweight. I tried losing weight before and never was successful until I got back using my CPAP regularly and getting a good nights rest. I posted more about it on my blog. Lose a lot of weight is hard under the best of circumstances. But trying to do it if…

This group looks pretty active so I figured I'd join and give it a try. I'm actually on the other side of the 100+ lbs lost mountain. So far I've lost 175+ lbs in 22 months. I've gone from 52% body fat to 17%. I completed my first half marathon this past April and am looking to get more fit so I can start to compete in a…

A gym about 30 miles away from me, the same one that did the run club I tried out in May/June, is doing weekend warrior sessions at various places outside on Saturday mornings. I went to one this past week and it totally kicked my *kitten*. If I have any hope of completing an Iron Man in the future I still have a long ways…

I'm kind of in this weird position where I'm not sure where I go next. I want to add endurance which will probably sacrifice lean mass. But I want lean mass to help minimize the loose skin. I have signed up for a new gym this weekend that friends are members of. I'll see how that goes. I've been doing this all on my own…
