  • Hit me up with a friend request if you like, I don't have many who are doing same as me.
  • OP yes I have been doing around 16:8 IF, works really well for me. I can lose /maintain, plus just feel generally healthier, more energy than if I'm constantly eating. And I don't do keto/LC, just healthy eating, but not obsessive, and portion size.
  • @Werglum Greetings! 575 is not shabby! @fmps5 116 days is also a good streak, and the habits even more of a success  @lisagetslim Just keep going! The streaks are not as important as the habit changes. All the best, you got this! @buzz3d269 and @lorrpb thank you
  • I've also had to (very sadly) give up dairy due to intolerance. Le sniff. It is hard, but worth it for me. I seem to be able to handle some gluten but be very sensitive to dairy, so you'll have to experiment for yourself how much if any you can tolerate. I found I have to clear/heal my system by staying off things I'm…
  • I seem to be adapting now, not so hungry, and if I am it usually passes, or within my feeding window a cup of coffee or tea with honey does me. Definitely, making sure to get in fats and obviously protein helps. I think carbs make me hungrier, but could be just the fact of consuming less protein if I've gone for the carby…
  • If you're like I was, and would crawl on your knees and hands to the corner shop just to get something sweet when a craving hits, and have no self-control to mention around sugar, you might need some time to get things into a healthier perspective. I had to get over what felt like an addiction to get to the place where I…
  • Just a suggestion, because it may or may not be relevant to you, but do you have any food intolerances? I cannot lose weight if I eat foods my body doesn't like. It's no magic bullet for a supermodel body but it can halt your progress if it's an issue.
  • I've been trying so hard to hold on to cheese and cream, but keep being forced to the realisation that I don't tolerate it - my mental health declines every time, with depression, irritability, exhaustion, all round pretty rubbish to be in my head then. Also, I think it stalls weight loss for me, obviously because I'm not…
  • I believe you just go ahead and post your own stats and welcome :)

  • I live in New Zealand, thus I feel compelled to speak up for my fellow hobbits (our hobbit Prime Minister excluded, being not so much a hobbit as an orc.) I don't think it's as bad as it sounds - the guidelines are still promoting whole foods as opposed to processed, if you read the original document. Their issue with…
  • I was feeling exactly the same before coming to this forum and picking up some tips from people here, very discouraged by lack of loss, and frustrated. Now I feel much better about sticking with it through the ups and downs on the scales :) All the best!
  • I can't figure out how to edit my posts, but to add - I don't mean to preach, only vegetable dishes could broaden your flavour palette if you're getting tired of stronger tasting meals
  • Yes, don't accept hating all veg until you've tried a bunch of recipes. Have you done what us mothers have done for probably time out of mind and hide them? I know it's probably harder if you're making it yourself and know they're there, but go for the old disguise 'em. Or drown them in butter , or cheese. I recently…
  • Lols re the apples! Your plan sounds like a good one. I wish this were simpler, but there's so much experimenting to find what works personally. I was successfully LC previously before falling off the wagon (children's birthdays; lethal), and in the meantime I think I was unwittingly influenced by LC naysayers and tried…
  • It came up in my reading somewhere to listen to your body. It may be that something in your system changes balance at some point in the future and you need more carbs or whatever it may be, so just don't be so committed to your woe that you miss signs your body needs something different for whatever reason. Seems…
  • Carp. In the storm of controversy surrounding low carb, I thought I must be imagining it, but perhaps it's not the grains after all. I'll be experimenting with increasing sodium too, thanks.
  • That's another mention of sodium, and I'd not heard about that before coming to MFP, but I was doing low carb on my own (with lots of reading). Is it sodium that's supposed to help with 'keto flu' type symptoms as well? Just curious about why people also get mood swings with carbs too. I can't eat grains without becoming a…
  • Add me anyone. I'm new and need low carb friendly friends. I log daily and my diary is open to friends (I believe. If not, someone let me know, I don't know what I'm doing.)
  • What causes this intense reaction to carb reintroduction? Is it underlying health concerns that particular people have or does any body adapt to not using carbs and overreact? Just curious as I am low carb again after being successfully low carb in the past, then tripping over birthday cake, and well, we know the story.…
  • @deathbypolkadot, success stories, yusss! @burghgrl it's awesome isn't it? Years ago I used to log it down manually, but the app is so much easier and with the barcode scanners etc

  • @carmkizzle I thought you wrote "cold turkey helps" when I first read it. I thought huh, must be the protein, LOL. But yeah cold turkey, just got to do it OP. I too have been a sugar addict, completely, so be encouraged that someone like me can be quite in control around sugar now. I have minimal amounts in my diet, and I…
  • I've been back and forth with weight loss too, but this is the first time I've been on MFP, and already I've managed to get through times that would have derailed me in the past. I make sure I log every day, even if it ain't pretty, and I get on the community boards daily, even if I don't post anything. It just keeps me…
