Those are some great suggestions, thank you.

Thank you so much! I love cottage cheese so it sounds like I need to start adding it to more recipes. I also especially like the taco recipe. Mexican food is my favorite! I really appreciate you sharing your ideas with me 😁!

Thank you, that’s very helpful.
-
And my goal is complete! I did 4 days or walking at least 30 minutes. I’m happy I did it.
-
Another walk in the books. One more to go for this week.
-
Just finished my 2nd 30 minute walk for the week. I hope everyone has a great day and can get some movement in!

Day one complete! 3 more days to go this week. 4/18 walked 30 minutes and just over a mile. I know to some, that is nothing but considering I couldn’t walk more than a few steps at a time last summer, I call that a win!

Welcome!

Thanks for joining me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I gratefully didn’t have to do chemo treatments but surgery has been a long recovery. I need to regain strength and balance. I also want to lose more weight.
-
Welcome! Sounds like you’re starting out strong. I wish you the best in your fitness journey.

Thanks for joining us Matt!

Welcome. We have people at all training levels and I have already had some great feedback.

I have a question on hydration for longer runs. I usually have a water bottle with me on the treadmill and I haven't done any outside runs longer than 5k. At what point to you need to be hydrating? I know most runs have water stations but are those enough?
-
Thank you for your imput. I don't know how I would do with a running group. I am SO slow right now. I am afraid they would all ditch me in the first mile :)
-
Thanks for the link. I am one of those that ends up indoors more than I would like.
-
I did 1.8 run/walk today. My left calf feels really stiff and sore now though. Trying to stretch it out some.
-
Woo Hoo way to go!
-
I just have to get the shoes on and go...why does that seem like the hardest part?
-
great job! What do you teach? Both my parents were school teachers 4th grade.
-
Thank you that is helpful information. I'm it in for the long haul but I would rather build up a little slower and have less risk of injury. I know I need to remember to stretch longer before and after.
-
Thanks again. I'm not looking to be doing 5k in thirty minutes right now. I think this sounds reasonable for the goals I have in mind. I'm not really expecting to qualify for the Olympics or anything
-
Thank you!
-
Time is not a concern for me in this. I just want to finish the race. I'll give this plan a look...thank you.

I signed up today and have 25 weeks until race day. This sounds realistic to me. Thanks!

My name is Becky and the host of this group. I am 47 years old and weigh 241 pounds. I have battled weight issues the majority of my life. I few years ago I started running and that was the first time my weight actually began to drop. Unfortunately, my 5k training uncovered some other health issues I was not previously…

So I did 1.59 miles and I am alive to tell about :). The 1/2 I want to sign up for opens registration in the morning. I have a long road ahead but I am going to do this.
-
Good for you! I am starting at the beginning too. I just finished my initial run/walk.

I would like to join.
