I have always worked hard in landscaping, but my body adjusted years ago and the weight still crept up, I am naturally broad and heavier built. I do intermittent fasting- eat 1x per day after working and before rest, watch my fats and starches, and added bodyweight workouts with a wonderful trainer to peel off the last 15.…

I feel ya on that. I'm 7 days quit and it's tough, I'm just gritting my teeth through it, honestly. I realized I would never peel off the last 15 pounds drinking like I was, which is daily and heavily for the last 13 years excluding my pregnancy. Basically the way the math came out is I could drink and eat nothing,…

I have the same problem, going to fast today to see if that helps. I find I keep weight off much better if I add a 48 hour fast in once a week or every other week. I have snake like metabolism though, so it may not be good for you if you like to eat multiple times a day.

Chels, I do take care of business, but when those gnarly choices come I choose the mess. It's a problem simmering under the surface, every day, all the time. My responsibilities are covered, its my health that's taken the back seat for the last 20 years. I want my strength back. I want to work out, and look lovely, and…

Ain't goin out like that, as the song says. Let's all make it stick for this new year! Things cant control us, we control us!

I've had to look at it middle age for exactly what it implies- only half way. I still have half a life to reach my goals, feel great, look great, and toughen up. Urgency. So I blew the last 36...whatevs...what am I planning for the next 36 is all that matters now. Stay strong and positive, you have the advantage because…

Cool Katie! Has it been tough as hell or do you feel like a million bucks?

What has helped me a lot is starting a morning routine of pushups, crunches, and just climbing my stairs over and over, about 15 min before coffee. I try to walk outdoors after work too, but sometimes the weather gets in the way. I found the morning ritual to be the best at waking up and inspiring the whole day.

I've worked in landscaping for 17 years and thought I was tough...oh how wrong I was. Jeez, I could only plank for 75 seconds! Blech!

On the awesome side, I got back into the gym this week and took all of my "vice money" (yes, that is actually a line in the family budget :( and socked it into a trainer. That woman whupped me, just shy of beating me about the face and neck with the bands. Now I'm too broke and broken to buy party supplies. Fresh box of…

Clobern, I know it all to well. I had one long quit, darn near a year...all it took was one. Stay strong!

It always is in the moment. Those moments tend to fade into the "well hey if I only eat eggs then I can totally fit this fifth of vodka into my diet plan! See! It's just carbs! Carbs are carbs right! Yeah I'm a genius!" (said with red eyes, in a completely manic state, after doing 100 crunches and smoking two packs of…

And it is such a huge part of fitness. Clean bodies, clean minds, we can do great things! I feel I have always failed at making strong, lasting changes in diet and fitness due to my substance abuse problems. Cardio as a smoker? Psssht. Dropping the belly when you're pounding 10 beers a night? Lol. Hitting the gym when it…

Yeah! Is there a group here for these sorts of things I wonder? Support is invaluable I've learned from my past quits from all of the above.
