• I would suggest taking them for a test drive. I eat small portions of brown rice and I feel better. One thing that worked for me in the past was lot's of exercise and half PB&J sandwiches. I feel like I have to counter less carbs with whole proteins and a good supply of lean fats. Have fun with it and don't stress.…
• Your liver switches modes as you sleep and the function is to not digest foods. I start every morning with a protein bar no matter how I feel. Some days I'm in the mood for fruit, oatmeal or yogurt but usually I'm not hungry in the morning. I know it's important to get my liver into its' digestive mode so I eat that bar…
• Great to hear! I've found that cooking my meals is really exciting. Be sure to change it up with other lean meats. Also, there is a ton of ways to cook chicken. I usually have some chicken salad and pretzel thins to have as a snack. It's good protein and I don't salt it. Cooking puts you in control of what you put into…
• I don't think it's a good idea to eliminate all foods that break down into simple sugars. Your body relies on this for basic energy. But if that's working for you then stick to it. I upped my fat and protein allowances by going into my goals and selecting guided. I think I left my carbs at 20% and I haven't had a problem…
• I only do this before a meal. I'll figure out what I want to eat and log it then go eat. That way I don't go overboard. But I'm still really new to this. I can see how logging a whole day would be advantageous. I think this will be a goal of mine. Thanks OP!
• Sounds like you have the right Idea. Best of luck to you!
• Hi. I live in Sugarhouse Utah but that doesn't mean I can't support you in your goals. I live next to the 24 Fitness Sport Gym. It's $40 a month with no sign up fees special running right now. I will be there everyday around 1 pm. How much do you need to lose? I'm about a 100 over right now. Will be trying to lose 50 first…
• 64 ounces of water may seem daunting but if you start your day with two glasses, two glasses at lunch and two at diner your only two off for the rest of the day. Helps you eat less too. Also, 8 ounces is quite small. Typical glasses are 12.
• I go cheap and buy Tigers Milk at Sam's Club. They're just what I need to start my day. Don't think I would eat them beyond the morning though. Paleo protein bars look pretty good though I'm not sure of the pricing.
• 8 cups of water is only half a gallon for starters. I drink two glasses with each meal and whenever I'm thirsty. I've had no problem hitting 10-12 cups a day but then I'm a online student with a kitchen nearby. One thing I try to do is drink more water during daylight hours. That way I don't end up looking at MFP at night…
• I plan on having one meal a week that cheats or defies the purpose of logging. I'm still going to log it though. 6 days under calories for one day slightly over doesn't seem like a big deal to me. But I like logging all my food. I don't eat out much which helps. I'm in control of what's in my house.
• I'm taking it one day at a time but my ultimate goal is to lose 100 pounds. I'm cutting out processed foods and sugar (minus a piece of chocolate now and then) and keeping my calories to 1675 a day. That and I am exercising a little each day. Baby steps right?
• If you set your goal to loosing 0 pounds a week you'll get more calories to eat every day. That's where I started until I got used to tracking my food. Now I set an aggressive goal of 2 pounds per week. Should theoretically be able to lose that by changing my diet but I am committed to some form of exercise each day.
• I see so that means she's hopeless or something. Believe me I know about not being ready until you're ready. I wish her all the best. She seems to have a good attitude this time round and I'm not here to knock people.
• Would probably recommend stretching first. But it's pretty much that simple. I just hit the treadmill today for the first time in 15 years. Only ran 20 mins but felt pretty good afterwards. I'm turning 40 next week and have set a weight loss goal of 100 pounds. At least 50 before I start any weight lifting. I'm afraid I…
• Hi Jean! You can do it. It's about more energy out than calories in. Fruit is a sugar, which turns into fat when you are not using all the calories you eat. What a dumb sounding program. I'm here to do it the old fashioned way. Friend me and we can support each other. Also, here is a guide to using MFP:…
• Hi. I'm looking for people who like to cook wholesome foods. I'm in the process of getting rid of all processed foods in my house. I want to eat clean and lose 100 pounds!
• Don't listen to them. They obviously didn't read the part where you explained your detox is simply removing the processed foods from your diet.
• Hi there! I applaud your efforts to clean up your diet and lose weight. I'm in the process of getting rid of all the processed food around my house. I want to eat fresh and cook the majority of my meals. I've already seem improvements in my energy since starting to watch my calories. It's actually fun for me after one week…
• Hi There. My name is Christer and I just started this week. I'm looking to lose around 100 pounds but will be happy with a benchmark of 50 and a stronger cardio fitness. So far I am loving this food tracking and find it really motivating. Also I have made some nice friends here already. Let me know if you want to connect…

• Hello Jim! You sound very excited to transform your body. Just so you know you will be gaining weight if you are lifting weights. Start with some cardio. Running, ellipticals, swimming, cycling and jump rope for starters. You'll need the cardio in place before you want to start lifting weights in order to build lean muscle…
•
Thanks I just feel like I don't have enough calories. Only 1200 Still trying to figure out the most fulfilling foods with the least amount of calories
Hi. You might be trying to lose to fast at first. Cutting down to 1200 calories from a normal diet of say 2250 or so will definitely leave you starving.…

• Turning 40 with 100+ to lose. Just one day, one message at a time. Feel free to add me. I will be active each day Mountain Time.
• Watched my health fall for too many years now. I used to be in shape and am now using this website as a home base for my goal of 100+ pounds. I'm not going to lie, it will suck at times.
• I'm hopping on the lifestyle wagon this time. Just ordered a FitBit Charge HR and will be looking forward to linking it to this site. Just turning 40 and want to lose 100 pounds. I'll start with the first 50 because that will be the easiest. After that I'll be adding weights. Good luck to you!
• Hi Sherry. I found the beginners guide to MFP quite helpful for motivation. http://fit101.org/the-step-by-step-guide-to-losing-weight-with-myfitnesspal/ I'm changing my lifestyle completely. Hope you get what you want out of this website!
