  • Yasso greek yogurt ice cream bars -- only 100 calories. The cookie dough flavor is amazing. Dannon Light n' Fit Greek Yogurt -- only 80 calories and very filling. Sometimes I top it with a tablespoon of Reddi Whip fat free (only 5 calories). Yum! Hot coffee with some Calorie Countdown milk -- 2 oz is only 18 calories.
  • Thanks for all of your support and suggestions. I guess at the end of the day, the scale doesn't lie and these calories are just estimates. Best to stay the course and not get too impatient
  • It's ok, I'm the same way too since I'm relatively new to this. What I did was tracked as I went, like whenever I went to the restroom, which was often since I drank a lot of Pelegrino. It kept me from overindulging out of sheer nervousness. I added a cushion and the evening was a success. Also, even though I ate much less…
  • I'm all for enjoying an occasional celebratory meal without a thought to calories, but we eat out regularly and I prefer to have a working knowledge of what I'm putting in. You guys are so good at estimating and I'm grateful for all the tips on this board!
  • I've got the same issue today. Yesterday I had cauliflower pizza, and though my calories were under budget the sodium was sky high so I'm up 3.5 lbs. Would using NuSalt (potassium) in place of salt and drinking tons of water today counteract the bloat?
  • I find it is important to plan at least one outing per day. We either run errands or go to the library story time. I'm not sitting at home. That would drive me bananas. With a five month old you could sign up for various mommy and me classes, from music to yoga, or join a moms group.
  • I can't believe I didn't know how to use PB2 (rehydrate it with water). This is the best ever and a calorie bargain!
  • Get a food scale and weigh and record everything you eat before you eat it. Do this for three days, keeping track with the MFP app. You will be astonished how many calories you are actually consuming. Then you can set goals from there.
  • Amazon has these 0.5 oz (96 calories) Skippy peanut butter cups. I'm wondering if I can try those as a starter before I trust myself with a whole jar. Of course, I could end up just opening a bunch of them and eating them all, lol. I've only been at MFP for just over a week, but I've been doing great. Maybe it's too soon…
  • It is pretty eye opening. In the past I would delight in eating all that bacon, plus the drippings, haha. There's no fooling yourself when you weigh :)
  • OK, I know it's meant to be cooked. The question is how crispy to make it. If you don't pan fry very long, the way my husband does, one slice is going to have a lot more calories than a crispy piece with most of the fat rendered. So, I cooked it the way I like it and it turns out that two slices cooked weighed 50g, not 14.…
  • How are you calculating the calories in each dish? Maybe I should ask what kind of dishes you're making. Something like sautéed vegetables you would have to weigh the oil, weigh the total weight of the dish, and then do some math I guess. Or do you serve the veggies with sauce on side? Simply prepared meats would be…
  • I think I may dare to try this. Where I get sloppy is nibbling and going for seconds or thirds until I just don't keep track or care anymore. At least this way I'm held accountable. The trick will be how to not look like a weirdo photographing the plate of food. Maybe I'll say it's for my Instagram, lol.
