  • I have been struggling since Halloween; my kids are old enough now to be really excited about trick-or-treating. For Thanksgiving and Christmas my husband’s parents won’t celebrate with my extended family, so we end up celebrating most holidays twice. My husband’s work gets us invited to multiple holiday parties. And we…
  • I’ve also found fruit to be an alternative to sweets that feels acceptable to my body/brain. Especially if I eat two different types of fruit in a row (say, a banana and then an orange). Being able to eat fruit “whenever I want” has really been helpful for me in terms of not feeling a lack. Sometimes I’ll add a few nuts or…
  • If you want to look different from how you look now (e.g. more toned), you need to do more than what you’re doing now. This is exactly why we hire trainers—to push us beyond what we would do on our own! I started weight training about a year and a half ago, and I had a trainer who I really liked. She didn’t push me very…
  • Thanks for sharing, and congratulations! That’s really fantastic.
  • When I started MFP I took about five days to simply track what I ate without making any dietary changes. It was very illuminating! It also made it easier for me to make changes. These days I still have an intense desire to stop tracking on days that I “fall off the diet,” but I find that when I track everything as…
  • I’m glad you’ve signed up and reached out, welcome! It sounds like you’re getting a bit of “tough love” here, but I want to give you hugs and answer your question: you say, “why is my body rebelling against the weight?” What everyone here is telling you, and what I am going to tell you too, is that your body is rebelling…
  • I am also struggling to get back on the wagon. The thing I’m doing that seems to be helping me the most is to make sure that I log EVERYTHING. Good days, bad days, snacks, nibbles...It’s when I give up tracking on “bad” days that I find I haven’t eaten at a deficit at the end of the week.
  • Huh, I don't see those on my phone...when I click on Community, it goes straight to a list of forums, and the groups I've already joined.
  • In order to feel like I'm not wasting food, I will pack extras up in a container to save for later, even if it's just a couple bites. Sometimes I eat the leftovers when I just need a few bites to tide me over, or I'll add them to another meal, but often they just sit in the fridge for a few days and then I throw them out.…
  • I had an antibiotic resistant infection about a year ago. In researching it, I discovered that a significant number of people are a symptomatic carriers of MRSA bacteria. Several months later, in preparation for an operation, they tested me to see if I was a MRSA carrier by swabbing my nose and armpits (I wasn't). All this…
  • I don't have pcos although I am doing fertility treatments and am also on metformin. I second everything that the previous poster had to say, especially about continuing to log even when you go over your calories for the day. I used to do a "cheat day" every Saturday (that I didn't track) and I didn't realize that I was…
  • Wow, awesome job! Your kids will always be able to look up to you as a role model. I'm so impressed.
  • I always intended to make my kid(s) eat what we eat, but then I had a kid, lol. My daughter is four and I always give her some of what we eat, but if she doesn't choose to eat it, she can have veggies and hummus, string cheese, a piece of fruit, some nuts, plain yogurt, or pretty much anything that she can reach herself.…
  • Ok, I guess I could do it better if I spent a weekend afternoon doing prep work. And I went to the grocery store yesterday and found some items (chopped onions, squash) in the frozen section. But yes, I get home between 5:00 and 5:30pm, and I have a hungry family to feed, with a four-year-old who needs to be in bed by…
  • I had one flare up about a year and a half ago, and no more to date (knock wood). Once or twice I started feeling pain in that same spot, and I'd go on a liquid diet (bone broth, aloe Vera juice) for a day or two and it would go away.
  • I have trouble using the peeler so I cut mine into 1" or 1.5" rounds (with the rind on) and then use a paring knife to cut the peel off each one before I cube it. Hardly any squash is lost.
  • I started fermenting my own foods after a particularly long/strong course of antibiotics. The easiest for me is sauerkraut. Just chop up the cabbage, massage in the salt until the juices cover it (add a little filtered water if needed), put a weight on top so no oxygen gets in, and put it in your pantry for a few weeks. If…
  • I'm recovering from surgery and going through a similar thing, although I'm only day 3 and so far I haven't been that hungry, although I'm worried about the days to come. I will be able to do slow walking, but the weather is supposed to turn bad again...I'm nervous!
  • Congratulations!!
  • I am fairly new to low carb, I've been trying to do a piece of fruit (or veg) with a bit of protein for snacks. Apple with peanut or almond butter, orange and a mozzarella cheese stick, carrots and hummus, a pear with a few pecans...it's been working pretty well so far.
  • Good for you for reporting! You can do it!
  • The first time I went running (with a very fit, very cute friend) I literally made it half a block. He was all chipper, like, "Tomorrow you'll do better! See you at 8am!" I wanted to stab his eyes out (not really). Now I'm sorry to say that I never really became a great runner, but I became competent for a good while.…
  • You've got this, Kittyk158! I lost weight before ttc-ing for our first, and we got pregnant first try. No such luck this last time around, unfortunately. My egg quality may be too low at this point; I'm 42.
  • Will you have a mini fridge in your room? Ask for a to-go box when you order your food, and pack half of it up before you start eating. That can help!
  • Well, I'm down 19 pounds over a year and a half. So you're way ahead of me! I'm about halfway to my goal, but as long as the scale keeps moving in the right direction, I don't really care how long it takes. The whole "it's a marathon" thing, and all that. Although I've been excited lately to see some of my clothes get…
  • I go from being chunky in a pretty average way, to being a super curvy hourglass when I lose weight. My breasts look absolutely enormous when I'm skinny (34G) and my waist is super tiny; hips are pretty large but they barely balance out the boobs. Keep losing your weight and see what emerges!
  • What are your favorite body weight workouts?
  • I recently started a low dose thyroid medication, and my energy is way up. Get checked!
  • I hoped for a little weight loss boost when I got mine removed, but no such luck.
