@Avtlove The indoor spinning is possibly an option, but I've heard it's not as good of a calorie burner. Do you cycle outdoors year-round? [/quote] Hi, I don't have spinal stenosis but I run and I bike. I also take spinning classes and believe me, if you have a good instructor, you will burn a lot of calories and you will…

I am not a scientist but I don't think a person can "activate his/her genes". Also a 500 cal diet is not sustainable in the long run because sooner or later it will lead to binging and abandoning the so called "diet". As many said before, you will be better eating at a reasonable calorie deficit instead of starving…

These are not new year resolutions, these are goals: Keep losing weight and learn to maintain. I have about 30-35 to go. I would like to run not only a PR in the 2022 Chicago Marathon, but qualify for Boston. Definitely not a resolution but I will work hard to do it. Participate in one Olympic triathlon. I want to start…

This. I would just log my food without the intention of eating at a deficit. You will start seeing what you are eating and you will probably start making changes naturally. Good luck to you.

I never smoked but I like coffee, an alcoholic drink here and there and definitely like sweets. I do aerobic activities and I need to replenish the salt I lose by sweating. I've been doing this for 7 months and it's working. I am not hungry and I enjoy the food I eat. Best of all I don't feel deprived so I don't need cheat…

I don't think the OP is talking about having dinner, but snacking mindlessly after dinner. I have that problem and I try to put a limit at the time I eat every day. My deadline is 8:00 PM because whatever I eat after that time is not because I am hungry. I just want to eat something out of boredom, or habit or just…

Having two little ones makes it really hard. Do what you can when you can and don't feel guilty if you can't get up at 4:30 to workout. Working early in the morning might not be your thing. Everybody is different. You might even have to wait until the kids are a little older to being able to plan a workout routine. Life is…

My trigger was while shopping for clothes at a large department store, a sales lady told me to go to the Plus size section. I always had body dysmorphia but the other way around than most people. I knew I was overweight/obese but didn't quite see it so I felt shocked and embarrassed.

Since you are not in a hurry to lose weight, it's great that you are trying it. I never heard of this podcast/method, but you might even find that you lose weight while at maintenance. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

I think you should talk to your doctor about your swelling after workouts.

Walking is really good and if you have access to a fitness center with a swimming pool, aquarobics is really good and fun. I hope you find something you like to do. That is very important to stick with it.

I agree, flexibility is key.

That is a very inspiring story. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your awesome achievement.

I can only speak from my experience, and IMHO OMAD doesn't seem sustainable. I know there are many people doing it with success, but I wonder for how long you can sustain it successfully. Anything that you (I) can't or won't do for ever will end up in the same place where I started or worse. When I started to lose weight…

Awesome! good training!

Hi Sandra, I know what you are talking about. I can't count the times I started. I lost 50 pounds this time and still around 30-35 to go. I would not dare to give any advices but I can tell you what is working for me. In the past I did extremely low calorie diets, the keto diet, the low fat diet, the Mediterranean diet and…

I know what you are talking about. I can't count the times I started. I lost 50 pounds this time and going strong. The difference this time seems to be that I didn't ban any foods or food groups. I am just eating less. This way, I don't feel deprived. It's making a huge difference. For Thanksgiving, I ate what the rest of…

When I start a spinning class, I have to set up the bike with power level and weight. The bikes are set at 165 lbs; I weight 175 and my mini goal is to not to have to change the weight in the bike... until I have to change it down.

Thank you @Lietchi and @springlering62. She used to have an I-phone and I told her about the myfitnespal.com website. I have to talk to her and see if she decided on it. BTW, I follow you two as well as @AnnPT77 and a few others. Great information and also fun. Thank you for your insight.

Hi @SwimBikeRun_Mom. I started to train for triathlons last summer. I got my self a coach and the plan is to train to participate in sprint and Olympic distances in 2022, then train for a Half IM in 2023 and if everything goes as planned train for a full distance IM in 2024. I am 62 yo but I think it is never late to do…

I like to cook and bake but I don't substitute anything except sometimes I use Sucanat (a less processed sugar) instead of sugar. I weight everything and I eat smaller portions. The only thing I usually substitute is Greek yoghurt for sour cream. I also use almond or coconut milk in smoothies but I use whole milk for…

A few years ago, I lost around 30-35 pounds with the Keto diet but I gained it all back because it was not sustainable for me. For me it was another diet with too many restrictions so it happened what it had to happen, one day I just dove my face into some sugary dessert and there was no going back. 7months ago I decided…

@jimmsessions8 I hope you are doing well with your weight loss?

I am between sizes right now. Size 14 is a bit too loose and I can fit in some stretchy size 12 pants but I have some old non-stretchy size 12 Levy's that I can't zip up yet. When I was younger I had wide hips and small waist, but now, the pants fit in the hips but I have too much fat in my belly, ergo, I don't have a…

I had a minor bumper to bumper yesterday on my way to work. (Nothing happened; it's all good.) I was upset with myself for getting into that situation, but it didn't ruin my day and not even once did I think of eating to calm my guilty feeling. Actually I didn't think of food until I was driving back home in the evening…

I do all of my heavy workouts at between 4:30 and 6:30 am before work. I run in my treadmill at 4:30 Tue and Thu, I take a spinning class at 5:30 am on Wed and Fri and I swim on Sundays at 8:00 am. My yoga and strength classes are in the evening after work. I am a runner but now I am training for triathlons. I just started…

I guess being rigid can work for some people. Not for me. I can't count the times I lost weight doing the never part of this post. It wasn't hard for up to 6 months. Then one day, I wanted to eat a piece of cake or a piece of chocolate and Boom! lost control totally. I am in a new journey this time. I lost 50 pounds in 7…

Congratulations on your success. You look beautiful. I lost 50 pounds and have around 30 more to go and you are an inspiration.
