  • I plan to start IF next week for 5 of 7 days. My natural inclination is to have my first meal around noon or 1pm, and my last meal around 9pm so it shouldn't be hard. Not exactly 16:8, but close. I plan to break the fasts on Thursdays and Sundays (for family harmony).
  • My stash includes: fresh greens - collard/mustard/turnip/kale greens with smoked neck bones and/or fatback for seasoning (I'm a soul food girl) misc fresh/frozen veggies - variety is important; including avocado, tomatoes, peppers, onions in moderation berry fruit - fresh and frozen fresh eggs various meats - seafood,…
  • I bought my test strips at CVS for about $11.00 for about a two-pack. My strip shows moderate ketone excretion. Yay!
  • Hello All! I'm kind of wishing I'd given my little journal a better name than "Entry 1." Oh, well - live and learn. Weight: 216 (that's 10 pounds...yay!) NonScale Victory: I confirmed that I am in dietary ketosis. Tip: One very classic topping for berries is sweetened sour cream. I tried it with blueberries and it was…
  • Sounds good to me!
  • Hello, Consider visiting FitterU on YouTube. The nuts & bolts of LCHF/Keto are explained and practical details are discussed. Dr. Stephen Phinney provides some detailed of a well-formulated ketogenic diet. MFP will help you track macros until it all becomes instinctive. Recipes and tips: Cooking Keto with Kristie (YouTube)…
  • Hiya, I enjoy TruVia (which is a stevia blend) and Splenda. I tolerate them well and have had no issues with negative side effects or cravings. Best wishes, NC
  • Hiya, You may be getting too much exercise. Also, check your protein intake - it's very easy to have too much (the body will convert excess protein to sugar). Lastly, with LCHF/Keto, many of us get thinner long before the scale shows that we are lighter. Hope this helps, NC
  • I've used Hellman's all my life, haven't found any other that I enjoyed. Most of the salad dressings in my local market have a bit too much sugar or juice-based sweeteners added (pear juice, etc) for my tolerance level. Soy doesn't bother me, but soy-sensitive friends seem to enjoy the 365 brand. Hope that helps.
  • Hiya! You are doing great! I hope you realize that and I hope that you remember to occasionally celebrate your successes. Even if it's nothing but a new pair of cool socks - do a little something special to keep yourself from trivializing your accomplishments. Happy Monday, NC
  • Hello 50, It's hard to be so honest about such personal things. I believe that you will achieve your goal and once achieved, that you will continue that good habits that you learned along the way. Hang in there!
  • Hello All, -- It's been a few days since I checked in and, wow, has this group grown! Thanks totaldetermination for starting this. -- So many of you have been kind enough to wish me well on this journey - thank you all so much! -- ChamayneF: I researched online for about 2 months. Most of it was online because the books…
  • My family was more concerned about the initial expense. Almond flour, coconut products, cream, oil, cheeses, butter, meat - it adds up when you're first starting. Every so often I'll be asked, "When are you going to start eating normal again?" Spaghetti night was an event in my house and they miss it. I'll need to figure…
  • Hiya. I'm still dealing with dizzy spells - not fun. So far, the bouillon has helped, but my ankles swell like crazy. Frustrating!
  • Hiya. I do 30 to 40 per day. But what worked for me may work for you: just focus on eating and avoiding the right foods and let your body tell you what it needs. Please drink your water and be mindful of the need to supplement minerals (sodium, magnesium, etc). One size does not fit all, so listen to your body.
  • Thank you

  • Congrats on all of your achievements. If you can resist the free donuts, I am sure you can do pretty much anything you set your mind to. Keep up the great work!
  • My hair stopped falling out. I used to brush my hair, then clean up the strands that had fallen onto the vanity. But when I went to clean up the strands today, there weren't any. None. And only one or two were in my brush. I didn't see that one coming, but I love it!
