Yes, using coconut oil for cooking, or olive oil on salads, you will have no problems with maintaining calories. Eat complex carbs, like sweet potatoes, quinoa. Protien, from peanut butter, nuts, seeds, or even Protien drinks made with vegetable protein. The real issue, is to watch the carbs, and get enough proteins.

I bought a Vita-mix to make my own smoothies, it pretty much pays for itself, I also make gazpacho, and lots of other things, more veggies. I have been so ambivalent about really being serious about my diet and exercise program. That needs to end.

Go see a podiatrist. You may benefit from orthotics. I have Plantar Facitis (sp?), and have constant foot pain due to diabetes as well. I wear New Balance, and thick socks, with orthotics.
