I don't get myself. I hate being 100lbs over and start doing great with my eating and then I crash and burn usually starts with a coke, that pop is like a drug for me I actually feel a rush of like a strong relief of I don't know what when I take my first sip,,, I'm so frustrated with myself!!

if I mess up it will be with food not drink which I do mess up. The only difference is I mess up the day not days. I use to keep going after I messed up but now I say one day wont make a difference. I start over. This is not easy but worth it. Love wearing my clothes, you can do this!

Learn to work soda into your calorie allotment for the day or just don't buy it. You are learning to eat for the rest of your life, don't be so hard on yourself. Baby steps.
You can do this!! There are so many successful people on here.

Understanding your "trigger" foods is a big step to getting control over them. If Coke is one of yours don't buy it. Find something else to drink that you like with less calories and buy that instead.
We all slip up from time to time. Learn from it, forgive yourself and move on.0 -
Tomorrow is a new day, don't let it derail you.2

Trust the process, this is for the long run and setbacks make us learn. Take this as a learning moment and keep on going forward!0

I'm walkin' the same journey. Traveled for work for a week and it threw my whole routing off. Company footing the food bill, quick stops, long days, no real exercise, greasy *kitten* food and I'm off the horse completely. So far, I'm checking my diet, getting exercise in 2x's a week. It hasn't been easy, but each day i get closer to where I was, in hopes to being better than before. Keep going, it's a lifestyle change...remember!0

I've had bad days, bad weeks and once even a bad month. Just keep trying. Don't overcompensate or self flagellate just get back into your healthy routines as as soon as possible.0

Sounds like your restricting yourself if relief is what you feel. How many cals do you eat?0

I'm with everyone, don't buy it if it starts. When I last lost weight I knew the foods I shouldn't eat and didn't buy them. If I wanted it every once in a while I'd indulge but I'd only buy 1 serving (no big bag of chips, or 12 pack of soda. Just 1 can or 1 small single serving bag)0

Don't keep pop in the house since it's a trigger food. It's harder to overdrink if it's not there. I have found it necessary to completely avoid certain trigger foods. It's easier than trying to work an unsatisfying amount into my calorie & nutritional goals. Eventually I've been able to add some back in as I have gained better control.

Something I have recently learnt. Well - I should have learnt it ages ago when I tried the whole default 1200 cals MFP thing but we forget things when lots of time has passed. Anyway - self deprivation leads to bingeing. 100%. I recently was on a comp prep diet for a bodybuilding comp. Almost 3 months of eating almost the exact same thing at the same time every day (very little changes food wise). Calories were fine - 1800, cardio was not fine - hours of the stuff on top of my weights training. Started off well enough - stuck to plan, had my weekly "free" meal where I could have whatever I liked. Until the last month or so where refeeds were taken out, carbs and fats lowered even more and cardio upped. I started to binge eat. I would demolish crap like half a bag of marshmallows - for no reason - I don't even LIKE marshmallows very much it just happened to be the junk food that was available in the house (bought to decorate a cake for my daughter some months ago). Anyway - I stopped prep when I saw things were getting too eating-disordered for my liking. I, however, have been binge eating for the last two weeks. I just sit and eat. Part of me is petrified of getting fat again but that doesn't stop me sitting with a massive bag of corn chips on my lap shovelling it in my mouth.
The good thing is that I have now managed to eat ALL THE CRAP in my house so I just won't buy anymore. Plus - I have gone back to logging and IIFYM-ing. So now I am hoping I have done all the bingeing I needed to and will be able to go back to a more balanced normal life where I can eat all the foods within my macros and calorie goals.
So moral of the story is - DONT DEPRIVE YOURSELF. Check your calories if they're too low raise them a bit, try not to eat trigger foods (like coke - just don't buy it), and allow yourself a 'treat' like chocolate or whatever. Healthy treats even - choc protein balls, I don't know - something non "diety"
Good luck!2 -

Agree completely. I did very poorly when I tried to restrict too much, whether I tried to eliminate "bad foods", carbs, or just set too aggressive of a goal. In fact, compared to the previous time I tried to count calories, increasing my calorie goal by 500 cals/day actually led to far better and faster weight loss - because I could actually comply with the limit and I didn't go way over some days in response to being restricted on others.
