  • I think everyone can run,but some people are built better for it than others. Give it a try and see if you like it, but build endurance slowly.I do recommend c25k .It's a structured programme, and if you take it slow you should be alright.
  • Hello everyone, long run today, 9.5 km and it went well. I'm gonna stay here for a couple of weeks and then go to 10k which will be my cap. Then i will focus on speed and increasing mileage on my other 2 running days.Tomorrow will be day 3 of yoga camp and i'll do some dancing as well. Haven't danced in a couple of days…
  • Congrats on 1st place Sharon! That's an excellent time you completed your half marathon. I'm sorry to hear about the fall and the headache.Hopefully your tests will show nothing serious. I ran my regular 5k distance today. It was supposed to be slow and fun, and i tried keeping it that way, but my watch said i finished in…
  • I'm glad you like yoga with Adriene, Gloria. I really like her style of teaching. To be honest i don't know if i would have carried on with yoga had i started with a different instructor. I did the 30 days of yoga series, and then i went back all the way to the beginning of her videos and did those. Tomorrow i will be…
  • Good morning everyone... How did your race go Sharon? Another good week for me. I'm still running outside, although it's been getting progressively colder. Last week i kept my 5ks slow, which made running more fun. Today i didn't try to be fast, but my watch said i finished in 31.47 so i was really happy with that. I guess…
  • Hello everyone, Another good week for me. 9km on Saturday, 5km yesterday at a very easy pace. Yesterday was actually quite fun in spite of the cold. It's nice to run without feeling a big strain on your breathing. Tomorrow will be another 5k again. The rest of the days are easy yoga. I brought my wii back from the storage,…
  • yes it is. There are packs that only have 6 cookies inside. If i have a cup a of milk, i can easily finish those 6 cookies in 5 minutes or less. So, if i have the calories ,and i have covered all my other needs for the day,and i feel like it, i may eat the whole pack. Just like i will eat a whole domino's pizza by myself.…
  • My mom : ''Everyone still talks about how great you looked at your brothers' wedding'' I was 20kg more than i am now and i could barely get the dress zipped.
  • Hello lovely people, Gloria, i'm glad you enjoyed your race. Now onto the next one :) Saturday i had my long run. I was only aiming for 8.5km , but i ended up doing 9 because i ended up a little further off from home than i wanted :D I'll be staying at 9 for another 3 weeks before i increase my distance again. Today was my…
  • There's no such thing as food addiction as far as i am concerned. I don't know anyone who can't stop eating broccoli or beans or any vegetable. We just like sweet things. Our ancestors liked sweet things. Sugar gives us and our brains energy. So we have evolved to eat sugary things .It used to be fruits, now it's cookies…
  • Hi everyone, i hope you're all well. It's been a busy couple of weeks, so i didn't post anything, but i have been running 3 times/week as always. We had a couple of very cold days, and in combination with the days getting shorter , my willingness to go out has reduced. But i am still doing it. I keep telling myself that…
  • I think that early exposure definitely helps, but also constant exposure to different vegetables and different methods of cooking also helps. Our taste buds constantly change and evolve, so something you might not have liked at a certain age, you might like at a later age. Also, the way of cooking. My mom likes to boil…
  • Hello hello, Today was rainy but thankfully warm. I got very wet, but at the end i felt good.I could have kept going actually, but my plan is only to increase distance once a month to allow my hips more recovery time. So next Sunday i will be increasing from 8 to 8.5 km .Tomorrow is yoga day again and since today went…
  • Good morning, i hope everyone is alright. Sunday's run went well. 8k and at the end i felt i could have gone longer, which was nice. Yesterday i did two very short yoga videos cause i've been sick. Stuffy nose and didn't sleep Sunday night because of it. Last night i was already much better and i could mostly sleep again,so…
  • Yes this is Adriene. I started in April doing her 30 day yoga challenge, and have been doing yoga with her ever since. I like the variety in her videos and her personality. And well done on your run!I don't think i would like to run with someone else. I like listening to audio books or music when i run, and be with my own…
  • Hi all, My run yesterday went well. I wasn't too happy with my latest running shoes, so i bought some new ones this week and tried them yesterday for the first time. Oh what a difference! I felt like i was flying :D So i finally run a 5k under 33 minutes again yay! Now i'm only 4 minutes away from my personal best which…
  • Hi all. Today was very cold in the morning ,and i didn't feel like getting up early so i decided it was going to be treadmill day. I only ran 4k , but i upped the incline a little bit, which i never get to do outside. The Netherlands is pretty much flat, so i figured it was time to do it. So i think when i need to run…
  • Good morning! Gloria ,well done for doing that run ,even if it is on the treadmill. It's always good to be more flexible and have more options. I haven't used the treadmill since April, but i definitely will during the winter. I work at the Dutch post, sorting the post and packages for the postmen/women before they go out…
  • Hello everyone, I'm glad you're all doing well! Regarding hydration, i have to say it never has been a problem for me.I'm used to running in the mornings (even in the heat of the summer) with just a sip of water before i walk out the door. Even when i used to run 15km (about 1h.50') i never had any water with me.I think my…
  • Good morning everyone, sharon nice run, keep it up gloria at least you did it. Next time it will go better for sure. I had my long run yesterday, 8km but it did not go too well. I don't know if it is because i changed a small part of my route, i was tired or something else, but even though i was slower than last week, the…
  • Good morning everyone, you're all doing a good job with your runs! I ran my 5k route Monday and today. Today went better than Monday, but i can't complain in general. Tuesday and Wednesday were both yoga days. It's gotten warmer this week and i couldn't be happier :) Tomorrow and Saturday will be yoga days again, and Sunday…
  • Well we also have to remember Gloria, nothing is going to be 100% correct. The watches also estimate.Just go by feeling as well as what your scales says. If you still lose weight, keep doing what you're doing. If not, eat less of the exercise calories.
  • I don't have my running watch synced to mfp, so i input my info manually. The paces that mfp has in the database don't come that close to mine(they are either too slow or too fast), and the calories mfp gives are very different to what my watch gives me. So for example at 7.5km/hour i had to input 44 minutes of running to…
  • That sucks . I get the disappointment. When is your next race? That will be something else to look forward to. Gloria you are commited! I have run with minus temperatures and with snow, but i think this year i will use the treadmill a bit more during the winter.I will try to do at least 2 runs/week outside though. I did my…
  • Gloria yes , i live in the Netherlands, and we get about 1 good month per year in total. Most of the time it's cold and rainy. I would say the average temperature most of the year is between 5 and 15 degrees celcius. I run in the mornings , so it's pretty cold. Right now it's around 13 degrees in the morning when i run,…
  • Hi all, Running went okay this week..5k on Tuesday and another 5 today. It is starting to get colder in the mornings ,making it harder to decide what to wear, and my motivation to go outside is lower. I'm dreading the winter, the rain and the minus temperatures. Right now i'm in the process of converting one of the…
  • Back from vacation. It was quite warm but i managed to get 2 runs on a track. Today i went out for my 3rd run of the week, and it felt good to be home doing my familiar route again. I think next sunday i will increase my distance .Its been a while since the last tim, so i'm feeling ready.
  • You can try running the same route backwards.it is still the same, but yet different. You could listen to audio books instead of music.listening to books forces me to pay attention more to the story than the actual running or the route.
  • Good job Gloria, I'm glad your race went well. Your time will improve over time for sure!
  • Hey all..Today was supposed to be yoga day, but i'm going on vacation tomorrow so i decided to do my run today instead. Was a bit tough cause i was busy around the house yesterday, lifting and dragging things up and down the stairs so my legs were a bit tired. But i did it ,7km yay! I have my running gear packed so hopefully…
