  • I agree with the others that you shouldn't supplement unless you have a known deficiency. I don't even take a daily vitamin, but I do take several supplements for things that blood work has found that I am lacking.
  • Good luck! I bought diaper rash cream for my nether regions so that they wouldn't get sore from all of the wiping. I also drank Gatorade Zero to help keep my electrolytes in balance.
  • Welcome back. I'm sure you've been overwhelmed with information since your diagnosis, so feel free to ignore me, but I follow Dr. Terry Wahls on social media and she is very inspirational. She was formerly in a wheelchair due to her MS symptoms and has totally changed her prognosis through diet and a variety of other (less…
  • No one can answer that for you. I'd recommend either investing in a scale that provides that information (with the understanding that there will still be a margin of error), ask the trainer at your gym to calculate your % using calipers, or spring for a DEXA scan.
  • I just use heavy cream in my coffee. And then if I want it sweet and/or flavored, I use the Skinny Mixes Syrups.
  • I understand that this is an urgent need for you, but I do beg you to proceed with caution. 800 calories per day is very low, and very difficult to sustain, even for a short period of time. Besides that, it is very difficult to get all of the vitamins and minerals that you need from your food if you are eating so little,…
  • First of all, I am very sorry that you are dealing with this. I also have a history of diverticulitis, including a stint in the hospital a few years ago because the infection was so out of control. I know that you are scheduled with a GI doctor, and that is a good first step. They will likely want to schedule you for a…
  • Can you open up your food diary or share what you eat in a typical day? It is hard to make recommendations without knowing what you are eating.
  • For starters, I do the bulk of my shopping at Aldi, you really cannot beat their prices. For bulk items I do like to stock up at Costco. I'll also buy 1-2 Rotisserie chickens on the weekend from Costco and that makes at least 1-2 dinners, and leftovers are then used in soups, casseroles, chicken salad, etc. I also save the…
  • I have always assumed that the nutritional information provided for bacon is for cooked, after the excess fat cooks off, so if I use any of the rendered fat for cooking or what not, I count it separately.
  • I personally find those types of products to just be expensive pee. Your body knows how to create Ketones and utilize them, there is not any real benefit to exogenous ketones if you aren't doing the work for your body to create it's own.
  • What blood testing have you had done? If you haven't already, you should ask your doctor to order NMR Lipoprofile testing to determine what types of LDL you have, there are two different kinds and the smaller LDL particles are the ones that are more concerning.
  • I like keeping stuff like that on hand for quick grab and go calories, thank you for sharing. Another thing I like to do is add 2 scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen to my coffee. It's only 70 calories, is tasteless, and adds 18g protein plus types I & III Collagen.
  • My husband is 6'3" and would emaciated at 180lbs. BUT he also is very broad. My coworker is also 6'3" and is pretty thin around 190lbs but it looks good on him. That's to say, aiming for 180lbs prior to surgery seems quite a bit low, who told you that?
  • The fattier the better. My favorite is a Ribeye but I also enjoy a good Strip as well. And rare. Always rare. My husband is the exact opposite. He hates visible fat or really fat of any kind so his preference is for a Sirloin. And well-done. We're actually having steak for dinner tonight and it's comical to see our two…
  • For those of you that eat the Florida Avocados, how do you know that they are ripe? Is it the same as the Haas and just the feel? My grocery store does carry the Florida ones but I've always been nervous to buy them for some reason. I love avocados and always have them on hand, and was even inspired by this post and had…
  • What is this big deal that you speak of? I don't care for Almond Butter so I do eat Peanut Butter occasionally.
  • Here’s what I ate yesterday:
  • Your first mistake is taking nutrition advice from a trainer. Unless they've done additionally schooling, they are basically just talking out their butt. It looks like you are trying to stick with a "clean" diet which is mostly fresh and unprocessed foods which is great. I would reevaluate your calorie needs and then look…
  • Do you have a crockpot? I put a frozen pork roast and some sauerkraut in the crockpot before I left for work this morning. We'll have that for dinner tonight along with a Veggie Steamers (probably brussel sprouts) and either noodles or leftover mashed potatoes. Soups and stews are also great in the crockpot. You can prep…
  • You could always just arrange your day to include those calories. I love my coffee and the thought of drinking it black or not at all makes me sad. I use 100 calories worth of heavy cream and I just plan my day around that.
  • I made a yummy Sheet Pan Shrimp and Broccoli meal the other day. Toss fresh broccoli with 1T sesame oil per 4C broccoli, red pepper flakes and salt to taste. Place on 1/2 of sheet pan and roast on 425 for 20 minutes. Take 1lb extra large shrimp and add 2T soy sauce (I personally used coconut aminos), 1T lemon juice, 1T…
  • I do Keto and I don't really track Net carbs, but try to keep my Total under 50g.
  • So, like, you won't eat fresh fruit or veggies? Or meat?
  • I eat a Gluten Free Diet due to a diagnosed Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance. I don't find it to be much more expensive, but I also don't use a whole lot of "GF" substitutes. Instead, I focus on whole foods, made from scratch, where I control 100% of the ingredients. I will rarely eat some GF spaghetti or maybe some GF…
  • Alright, back at this. Again. I took off a little over a month and put back on a few pounds. Most of it was water weight, but some of it.......wasn't. HW: 275lbs CW: 220.6lbs October GW: 210lbs Ultimate GW: 125lbs OCTOBER 10/06 10/13 10/20 10/27 10/31. to finish the month
  • Tomato, avocado, and very, very rarely I'll eat some berries. I also do the juice from lemons and limes. To be fair, I'm not a huge fruit eater even when not doing a low carb diet. I could go months without eating fruit. Summer is a bit different because there are so many more options, and I'm a melon lover :)
  • I am not a fan of those overprocessed foods with questionable ingredients myself. If it's just for an occasional need, what about something like beef sticks and/or shelf stable cheese, canned sardines, Epic Bars (check the carbs), or maybe some nuts? I keep those things in my desk drawer for a quick snack or even a meal if…
  • Your HDL number is amazing! Congrats on the great work.
  • I've made THIS before using both Heavy Cream as well as Coconut Cream when I was experimenting with DF and it's delicious.
