  • @Aztec4Life You asked the question about how cutting out sugar has worked for others health wise and I gave you my honest answer. It has helped with my degenerative neurological disease. If you didn't find my response useful, then toss it and move on. I don't think it was much different from what you had posted or the…
  • Body composition analysis with my doctor every few months.
  • Added sugar was the first thing I cut out when I started to lose weight last year. Then, I cut out simple carbohydrates one by one: bread, rice, fruits (except for berries), grains, pasta, etc over several months. When I cut out sugar my joint pain decrease tremendously! Now, I indulge here and there, but I feel better…
  • Yes! And I count everything, so it's pretty accurate. I eat mostly protein and fat so that fills me up pretty quickly, hence the low calorie count. It's been working for me; most weight loss has been from fat, not muscle. I've lost on average of one pound of muscle for every 6 lbs of fat; the average is 1:3.
  • I'm 7 months post op and most days I don't eat more than 600 calories/day. I stay under 30 g of carbs a day unless I'm stalling. After I break the stall, I go back to less than 30. Follow your program's advice and be patient. I barely lost any weight the first 2-3 months after surgery.
  • Ice cream! Dairy kills my gut!
  • Twelve pounds a month is great, in my opinion. But, check your macros. How much grams of carbs are you eating? Also, I'm almost five months post op and I still can't eat 800 calories; let alone 100 grams of protein a day. As far as exercise, start adding weight training. It's gonna help you more in the long run to lose…
  • Paleo/Keto way of eating is what's working for me. I'm not a believer of low good fat diets. You need good fats for your body to function.
  • Add me! We've lost about the same amount of weight. I'm also 3 months post op.
  • 50,000 units of D2 is a prescription medicine intended to take once or twice a week for a few months until low vitamin D levels are resolved. Then, you can supplement daily with a lower dose of D. Ask your doctor for the prescription. To others who have replied: for some unknown reason, MS patients tend to have lower…
  • 1. Get over this evil pre-op diet! I've been low carb for almost 8 months and I'm used to having protein shakes everyday, but this *kitten* sucks! 2. Survive surgery!
  • Hi Alli! No wonder I haven't "seen" you in a while! So sorry! If you were doing generally OK and now you're experiencing this symptoms, it may be a relapse. Get it checked out if you haven't done so already. I just started exercising about a month ago after over 6 years! Like you, I was unable to do so many things all…
  • Water doesn't have calories, but it does have weight. I measure after cooking.
  • So far I've discovered that limiting my carb intake helps with my pain level. Who knew! I asked my doctor and he said carbs increase inflammation. I've pretty much eliminated all added sugars (except for the occasional cookie or small treat), still eat bread (like once a week and in very limited quantities), etc. Most days…
