I remember all the signs in the hotels in Thailand forbidding guests from bringing durian fruit in. I had no idea what it was, so asked and the man said "smelly, bad. you won't like it" and puckered his face up.. didn't sound like he was a fan, either.

Apple fritters are the bomb. Totally worth the replanning once in a while.

Two weeks isn't long enough of a period to be too worried about. Weight loss isn't linear, some weeks you'll see more of a drop than others. Be sur you are accurately weighing and logging your food, be sure to eat back a portion of your exercise calories. It may be water retention from your exercise, or excess sodium in…

Endive works, as do the mini sweet peppers.. cut them in half and you have nice scoops.

So I'm not going to make my challenge miles this time. I have still run more miles this month than I ever have in my life, which is pretty awesome. I'll keep the 30 miles as a goal for next month to see if I can get there. Now that it's getting colder and dark earlier, I know I will be fighting myself to go out and run (it…

Welcome! There are many here who have lost a fair amount of weight (I'm down 65 lbs so far) and it is far from impossible. Keep moving (you'll feel a lot better, at least I did) and plug your info into the MFP app and log your food. Best of success to you, you can do this!

Congratulations on all your hard work! You look fantastic (and I love your hair!)

Salads can be awesome, but you have to be aware of what is in them. Dressing can be a killer to the calorie count. You can use lighter dressings or things like rice wine vinegar, or lime juice, or salsa instead. Caesar dressing is a killer calorie wise... that being said, find out the nutritional info on your favorite and…

I recently finished.. from everything that I experienced and was recommended, stick with the 3 days a week. You don't want to push it too much and risk injury. Do other exercises on the other days, be sure to take one day to rest completely.

Perhaps start with changing what you snack on, go for carrots, snap peas, celery, etc.. then work on changing the behavior. If you normally grab a snack at 10 am, then tell yourself you have to wait till 11. At 11, see if you can make it until noon or lunch. Rather than grab a snack, drink some water or a diet drink or go…

itty bitty run this morning. @Orphia what amazing photos! :) Indulge in that kind of inspiration all you want.

You've got this. :) You can do much more than you think you can. Be sure to get properly fitted for shoes at your local running store. They won't be cheap, but it will be worth it.

You're awesome!! Congratulations!!

I've finished C25K a while ago and ran my first 5k in late July. So while I can't join you on your journey at the moment, I'll be cheering you on! Have faith in yourself and know you CAN do this. Stick with it, go slow, repeat days or weeks if you need it, and you'll soon think back on this first day and smile at how far…

Did my Beat the Blerch virtual 5k this morning, felt pretty good! I tried eating something before my run and I think that helped - and didn't make me queasy (sometimes an issue when I eat before exercise) so yay! I saw bunnies and a coyote. No deer this time. #teamsnail (my running spirit animal :) )

thanks @spingirl605 and @BeeerRunner great advice from you all. :)

@MeanderingMammal I know my head as more to do with this than anything. This whole thing has been a head game and it still gets in my way more than it should. When I first started C25K outside, I would get so self conscious (big girl running and all) I'd have mild anxiety attacks - which I am not prone to at all. So I…

cool, thanks @The_Enginerd

Thanks, everyone. I'm off to google fartleks (I've heard the term, but not really sure what they are) and speed work and that plan @Will_Run_for_Food mentioned. @rdmercado speaking from my beginner's experience: get off the treadmill, you might have to step back a little in your pace and/or distance as you adapt from not…

Thanks @richardgavel @lorrpb yeah, I'm thinking I might go back to intervals to see how that helps. :) @Heirgreat now I need to google a tempo run lol @Dano74 I'm looking forward to that, all that air!!! @DaveC29 cool. I've been focusing mostly on time (frankly, my running attention span maxes at 30-45 minutes, so I get in…

Mischief managed. Nicely done.

What's your freezer situation? I'll pick up a pork shoulder on sale and make a giant batch of carnitas, then freeze out portions. I'll do the same with chicken breast, roasts, etc. If I freeze the meat in smaller portions, it lends itself to easily incorporating into soups, casseroles, salads, etc. I've also made breakfast…

but according to your thread title and your original post, it's not working. So perhaps entertain the thought of making the above suggested changes to your current situation rather than your past life?

Cool. For ease on the budget, you might think about various beans... pinto, black, red beans, etc. You can make some really tasty with only a few ingredients. They fill you up, are cheap, and give some nice protein. http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1017495-simple-pinto-beans…

8 fluid ounces is not the same as 8 ounces as a weight measurement. Watch this video to see the inaccuracy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpHykP6e_Uk you can be eating many more calories than you think. Use measuring cups and spoons for liquids, scale for solids.

It's mostly about what you eat and calories in/calories out. If you are working out, then eating back all the calories you burned during exercise, you won't have much success (though improved health with the new fitness level) weigh and measure all you eat and drink and log it to get an accurate assessment of what you're…

What do you have access to for cooking? Just microwave? actual stove/oven? Hot plate? Crockpot? that might help narrow down options for you.
