Allow yourself smaller portions of those things if you can't cut them out completely and work them into your daily calorie allowance. When you feel yourself going into the phase of "drinking and eating rubbish" ask yourself why and see if you can pinpoint triggers and emotions. Then figure out other coping mechanisms or…

I keep tabs on big sales at Old Navy and can often pick up new jeans/shirts for cheap. (I don't have the patience to scrounge through racks trying to find things - not a shopping fan)

I use it as a thickener in stews.. onion, potato, sweet potato, parsnips, squash (winter veggies) and sometimes soyrizo for the flavoring (great seasoning without the fat of regular chorizo) then veggie or chicken broth... add pumpkin. you can also add it to regular chili, adds an interesting flavor (not too pumpkiny) you…

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

She's projecting. If you know she is going to be like this, you need to learn to either ignore her or not be in the room with her when your husband isn't around. I am of the more direct/snarky sort (which isn't always the best) but can be effective sometimes. So with the ring thing, I probably would have popped off how it…

The cool think about LA is that you can experience so many ethnicities in one area. For the LA institutions, do try In-n-Out, then also you can head down to Pink's for a hot dog (mediocre, but an LA landmark). Tacos all around as mentioned above.. Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (hit the original on Gower) is fun, if you are…

I'm 80 or so down so far... wanted to chime in to let you know you CAN do this and I wish you the utmost success. Have faith in yourself, stay on track, know that not every day will be perfect - when that happens, dust yourself off and get back up again. :)

Best way is to get a food scale, weigh the dry - that will be infinitely more accurate than cups. If you don't have a scale, just measure the dry and take the cooked measurement with a grain of salt since pasta can expand when cooked at different rates. If you measure 3/4 cup dry, then estimate you are eating 1.5 servings.…

So sorry to hear about your accident. I wish you a speedy recovery from it all. In the meantime, try to develop another coping mechanism. Food isn't helping your pain at all, so work to change that behavior and find something else to distract/comfort yourself during those times. Journal, crochet, draw, read, build models,…

this helps...sort of. Still cardboard, though. :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlsFgDjyePc

Thanks for posting. I slacked off some of last winter or went to the treadmill. I had some things that worked in cold weather, but a few that didn't. Now I've shrunk out of my warmer leggings from last year, so the hunt begins again. I had the most trouble with my hands not staying warm - found a Buff around my neck helped…

@Aaron_K123 "I just wish I'd get an answer when I do that. I'm not asking those questions rhetorically I genuinely want to know how people draw the line between "natural" and "chemical" because the way people use those words it seems completely arbitrary." If Stevia you buy in a store is "natural" then by the same…

Not gonna lie - love it when you do a chemistry mic drop.

Congratulations on all your hard work!

Yeah, I've finished hundred mile bike rides, the 3-day walk for breast cancer, now 5K and 10K runs... even a triathlon... and always have a cold Diet Coke waiting for me at the finish... take that back I don't even care if it's cold :D

PREACH! Though I will admit, this year I have been warmer, so I think (hope) my body is adapting to having less insulation. That being said, I froze most of last winter/spring/early summer - so I have plenty of cardis in different weights, scarves, and other things I tend to still bring with me in case I get the shivers.

Having 80+ pounds less weight on my joints has definitely lessened pain. Both in my knees and lower back. Now, neither of those areas had any other issues like arthritis or anything, but I'd definitely have pain when having to get up and down off the floor, or walk a lot, etc.. Now I run and hike and walk and am infinitely…

Down 83-ish so far.. For holidays I go through the holiday menu (I do the cooking) and leave some things as is for tradition's sake and sub in lighter options for others things. Usually in the form of roasted veggies (I now make these really delicious roasted potatoes rather than mashed.. not all the butter and cream…

I just tried SheFit and am impressed so far.

Eat some of what you enjoy and fit it in your calorie allotment for the day. Unless there is a medical reason for you to eat a high protein diet, carbs aren't bad.

It has a bit - but I still get rather intimidated shopping in the non-plus-sized section.. there are SO MANY more choices. I get overwhelmed fairly quickly. I've never been much of a clothes shopper, so this will take time. I am going a little more funky than I was - mainly due to the availability of more interesting…

I don't have kids by choice - for many of the reasons above. One thing I miss about my friends who DO have kids is being able to just hang out and talk with them. Now it's all about the kids: entertaining the kids, checking on the kids, talking about the kids, etc. I like kids, but I also liked my friends and have drifted…

I freaking love this scale. I bought it when my first one died. Love that I can pull out the display if you have a large plate or something on the platform.
