  • Being able to walk uphill without getting out of breath. Getting off my blood pressure meds. Having a healthy heart. Living to see my kids get married and have kids. Little stuff like that....
  • I'm learning to eat low sodium. Prelogging is a huge help. Choosing things like chicken breast or turkey (cook your own) rather than deli meat, going easy on condiments and reading labels is good too.

  • Bob's Red Mill 7 grain cereal with soy milk and splenda and 2-3 hard boiled egg whites. Actually stays with me til lunch!
  • Thanks! I appreciate the ideas!!! I think the thing I need to remember is to always pre log my food until I am better at picking low sodium things. I did good today until dinner and I ate before logging. Oopsie.
  • I was just put on blood pressure meds a couple weeks ago. I am working to bring it down with diet and exercise. The whole low sodium thing is still new to me and I fail miserably at it a lot of the time. I'd love to check out other diaries to get ideas.
  • Triscuit and Wheat Thins, hint of salt with 1oz of mild cheddar or muenster cheese. 1/4 c unsalted peanuts. Fruit.
  • THISx1000!!!!!
  • 3.4 lbs to go. My mini goal is to reach "onederland" by my next Dr appt on April 14.
  • I'm so glad you went to the Dr. Hooray for good blood tests! Hopefully the echo comes back OK too!!
  • I haven't worn a bathing suit in years, which is a shame actually because I work at a place with a very nice pool. I doubt I will lose enough by summer to be willing to wear one this year. Maybe by next and I have NO idea what size "healthy" will end up being.
  • I take it back. Fatigue is my second biggest obstacle to weight loss. The greatest is cooking for two human garbage disposals, otherwise known as teenage boys. How about making a 3 egg omelette stuffed with ham and cheese while I am "enjoying" my lovely bowl of 7grain hot cereal....LOL! Good Lord, I don't know where they…

  • Be sure that your weight loss goal isn't too aggressive and that you are getting enough calories for your activity level. You'll sabotage yourself by setting unrealistic goals. That being said, I have a tendency to obsess too. That's why my weight loss attempts are always short lived. Start off good, get impatient and try…
  • Anything can be pureed. Add liquid (milk, broth, tomato sauce, etc) to get the consistency right. She. My mom got to the point that she could no longer eat solids my Dad pureed whatever he was eating. Even pizza. Seriously, tastes the same, just dont spend too much time looking at it....
  • I refuse to give up ranch. I use it more sparingly but no. I refuse to give up ranch.
  • Oh, another thing I noticed. The IQF (individually quick frozen) chicken breast you buy in the bag have salt added.

  • I just have to add...Leg cramping while you are exercising CAN be a symptom of a circulatory problem such as a blood clot. If it continues, don't ignore it. Ask your Dr.
  • Ugh. Me too! I had no idea how much sodium I was eating until I had to watch it. So far the changes I have made: Cook chicken/ turkey and use that for lunches instead of deli meat. Cut down on all processed stuff. They add salt to EVERYTHING. I'd love some more tips!

  • Cramps when you are on your feet or after you are off your feet? Make sure you eat plenty of things with potassium and magnesium. You might consider a magnesium supplement if you don't get enough from diet. If they continue, you might consider asking your Dr.
  • Yeah, I ignored my cardiac symptoms (blamed the palpitations on being "anxious" ) until my heart rate dropped to 30. I still ignored it for week(!?) before finally going to the ER, being diagnosed as being in complete heart block and ending up with a pacemaker 3 days later. They still have no concrete reason as to why it…
  • I am 5"7'. My goal is 150 because that would put my BMI in the normal range for the first time since I was in my 20s.
  • Ask the head of your schools food service department (an email link should be available) or email the company that provides the meals for your school. In order for a school to be reimbursed for a free school lunch their nutrition information has to meet government guidelines therefore the numbers exist somewhere. Just keep…
  • Be sure you are drinking enough water. I get tired and foggy when I am even the slightest bit dehydrated.
  • I'd love some friends too! 50 yr old Mom of teenage (eating machines) sons. I've been here 3 weeks and have lost 9 lbs. I've lost before but always seem to get sidetracked after a few months. It would be wonderful to have (and give) some additional support!!!
  • Feel free to add me. I can use (and give) some motivation and support too!
  • This is how I feel about it too. As my weight drops and my calorie goal gets smaller I may have to get one. For now measuring works fine.
  • Your boy needs a mental health evaluation. The not sleeping and nightmares worry me more than the lack of eating (I have an 18 yf old with anxiety issues that is 6"1" 165). Meds can help tremendously. Counselling is necessary too but meds will help him feel better so that he can work with the counselor.
  • I'm not sure what fitness means to me, exactly. But when I can walk up "cardiac hill" at work without getting out of breath, I will know I am there.
  • Fatigue. When I'm over tired I over eat. I try to have healthy foods precooked and preportioned in the fridge so I can eat while I am cooking for the rest of my family. When I don't I eat way too much of all the wrong things.
  • My long term goal is to have a BMI within the normal range. My mini goal is to get off the blood pressure pill that I was just put on for the first time in my life. Did you know there is salt in EVERYTHING? *sigh*
