I don't see how it wouldn't work. It's working in politics, religions, economics, etc...anything that's not going your way can be attributed to one or more irrelevant factors. Personally I blame the foods for being too tasty. D@mn foods.

That's not how it plays out in reality for me. I fast, then eat alot, really well, then fast... repeat. Don't gain a lb. Even losing a little going by trend. No out of control cravings, no worry about buffet visits or any outings at all. Why would there be any craving or urge to binge when I just had anything I liked or…

Me neither. Wendys taste bland to me. McD turns me off when they get their patties out from metal containers. I prefer Carls Jr with their meat patties going through fire on a rotating conveyor belt.

:) hehe NOT eating per whatever rule tends to help more than hurt. Immediately, you have a narrower window and don't constantly stimulate your appetite.

I would think for it to start to know, the deficit would have to get over 1000 calories or something. I doubt it could tell at 200, 500. I like analogies but your car analogy is really crappy here. :) Gasoline cars require the readily existence of gasoline. The human body is much more efficient than car with the process of…

Barring a big enough deficit, if the body could tell (between 100, 200 calorie difference?), all the advices about using more protein, about satiety, would be invalid.
-
(bolded part) That's because many do not understand or fearful when a little feeling of hunger creeps up. I stand by my statement that if the body is capable of gaining a lb or two in a period, it's also perfectly fine to drop more or less the same amount in the same period. For example, if you visited a buffet and ate…

OP Just don't make your portion or eat at the same time as your kid. My beloved aunt used to do that with me when I was very little and we didn't have much. She refused to get a portion for herself when everyone was at the table. She was our aunt/mom/nanny/everything, making up for her deadbeat brother (our father)

It surely depends on the individual. To me, it has little to do with the size of the loss (1 vs .5lb, etc.) It has much more to do with one's understanding of calorie (energy) management. I don't feed myself regularly. I handle bingeing fine. It's well within my plan; and as said in my previous post I do categorize foods…

I know what you are talking about. It was your wording earlier that was funny if not confusing. Lots of people don't seem to understand when I said of the concept of "diet foods" and of the fact that we shouldn't always be looking for great tasty food which is a contradiction to our effort. We wouldn't want to struggle…

So .5 is the magic number? Binge-proof point?

The Goldilock food? Not unenjoyable, but enjoyable enough, but not too enjoyable? LOL.

What happened to the period and comma and return keys on your keyboard?
-
That's a lot of truism in this statement.

^^ That's kinda my schedule too. I fast/eat little in boring meals (M-half Thur). Eat more with family, friends and before/after my sport sessions. Works great.

It's true that eating too much is the reason we get fat, but eating quickly tends to promote overeating and overlook the tastes. I'm surprised that when I got to my maintenance weight I have developed the habit of taking my time with a meal, instead of sitting down and eating all the way until I felt full like I did in the…

I eat not because of designated time to eat. I eat on a pattern that I find most effective for me. All around. Meeting all my family and friend obligations, and my activities.

No. Those are the golden time that lets you effectively create deficit. In reverse, there will be time that you feel hungry even when you eat "enough" your "allowance". It will be a struggle. Would you want to struggle?

If you specifically choose the garbage burgers, then it's garbage you get. Frankly I like my popeyes fried chicken -- oh Tuesday discount! -- which I cannot replicate at home. I doubt anyone could. El polo grilled chicken is also great. Just like anything in life, there's all sort of different qualities out there. I don't…

Cheaper? Yes. Different tasting? Yes. Better tasting? Not so sure. Eating fast food alot of time is like scratching a good itch. It's never better to wait and scratch it later.
-
Very insightful. I also don't get the advices that tell a fast food lover to cook at home or plan. Some of the biggest advantages of fast foods is the luxury of avoiding cooking or planning (for me). You want fried chicken, you get it in 15 minutes. There's no way you can achieve that with planning and home cooking and no…

Free lunch? Wow, if I had that I could practically eliminate my grocery bill.

I'm like you. I can't stand eating inside at work, especially competing for the microwave and a spot that doesn't filled with all sorts of different food smells. I go out once or twice a week, or eat snacks at odd hours or skip. I eat so well in the evening and weekend that my loss can get slow (or delayed). Snacks = hard…

Seriously I don't know how anyone can follow all the advices given here. Keep being patient, increase deficit, refeed, change goal post. How does a person decide what to follow?
-
How is tracking calories in out not a way ? Does it have to be "know what I'm eating" to be a way? (Yeah I'm kinda bored :))
-
OK. I won't argue with a guy flexing his bicep and has over 27k posts :)

I think CICO is pretty much interpreted as a way of eating in this place when people (majority) eat minding the number of calories consumed and expended per lifestyle. :) That's is sooo much a specific way of eating.

I have learned that weight control is all about discipline. Everything else is just distraction and confusion. Food has the power to get ahead of many people's discipline. Fasting feels very healthy if done right.

Sauteed sweet potato leave is the best!

This ^. I like most vegetables. Grew up eating them as main courses, not as sides to meat, seafood as most people luxuriously can afford. It also helps a lot to keep in mind that meat and seafood taste predictably the same whereas veggies vary greatly. Veggies are infinitely more wholesome than animal parts. The US is…
