I like. It doesn't take 4 years at all. It took me less than 4 months to drop all the counting, logging. I could eat a bit more or a bit less. The bathroom scale is a guidance. The energy requirement/level is a great feed back. And mfp is entertaining :)

Easy. Bring a big bottle of water with you. Alternate a couple bites with a big gulp of water. You'll feel full fast or kinda destroy your appetite.

Yes, it's just an initial phase. Very short for me actually. Eat something before you get dizzy or a headache. Try hard boiled eggs, cashew, nuts. Get up, walk around. Sometimes a bit of caffeine coffee might work. Losing weight is all about cutting back in the long run (weeks, months), not suffering.

My wife is a snacker. We just cut up a lot of jicama and leave it on the counter top all day. It's crunchy, cool, lightly sweet and low calories.

I like most fruits and veggies but there are certain types that I have a hard time eating. It really comes down to being lazy and lack of sugar. Examples are no so ripe honeydew, green apple, celery, etc. They are hard to chew and take a long time to go down or too sour. If I accidentally got green fruits and do not want…

It's a form of disordered eating. Rich man's disorder.

bella, until you love everything a bit too much and then it's out of control, no? :)

It's all about how to train your dragon. Good movie. Lots of people think severe restriction leads to overeating but then lots of other people also can't curb overeating either, in other words over eating leads to more over eating which is the case for the OP. You'll find all sorts of logics explained. Again, it's all…

I'm trying to reduce carbs and focus more on protein and that's what I'm also observing. The bolded part. On off days I tend to eat a decent size breakfast and/or lunch with lots of carbs (due to boredom and circumstance) and ironically I'd feel hungrier by afternoon.

Like any "wisdom" , any saying works in some instances but not other. You got a brain, use it and find your own path.

kommo, alot of what you said here is very arbitrary. There's nothing not real or unhealthy about sandwiches, wraps. Simplicity which helps you get your nutrition while not promoting overeating (due to plainness) is what I emphasize here. If you can't be disciplined with portion, restriction, a better course is to "skip" it…

It can be argued the other way though. Too easy cooking, good foods to boost, too easy eating. :) The best equipment in hindsight to me for weight loss is a small fridge. Just stack it with sandwich, wrap ingredients and the likes. Wt loss is all about tuning out of eating. Most people want to continue to eat well while…

Oh good thing I scrolled down and saw the yellow blub. I was thinking...nevermind.

If you continue not to drink or eat anything until afternoon, then you'll weigh lighter in the afternoon. :) We will always be lighter as soon as we stop drinking, eating or injecting things into our body; and it gets lighter as time goes.

I don't get how people do not like vegetables, especially if they are food aficionados. Do they eat meats and candies most of their life? Vegetables far surpass meats in term of textures, aroma, colors, shapes and forms. It's super great eating most of them. I feel I'm running out of types of vegetables to try. Whenever I…

Same here. First grade logics tell me that if I keep poking the sleeping bear (appetite) throughout the day it's gonna wake up and give me trouble. 1 coffee in the morning, 1 light lunch between 2-5 and a hearty dinner at 7:30 pm. No cravings, hunger, midday drowsiness, avoiding meal time, foods with the missus.

I tried to freeze good left over foods a few times but they did not taste the same reheated. You amaze me that you can eat week old, reheated foods. I don't like spending a lot of time in the kitchen either. My solution is to learn to cook fast, within 30 minutes. :)

Agreed about not trusting. If you do trust your body cues, try to err on the deficit side and rely on the body scale for feedback. Our problem most of the time is overeating, not under eating. That's basically what I'm doing. I'm not counting calories anymore. If I can deal with hunger without getting any kind of negative…

I just remember how I got overweight in the past. It was mostly from frequent snacking and complete disregard for number of big meals within short time. I would always eat a big bowl of ice cream and all favorite toppings or a whole bag of chips in TV time. Drank sweet beverages through out the day. After I had had a big…

tamara, the things you did with water and time are good strategy to limit the "damage" but honestly in my case I find it unnecessary and even contradicting. I go to a buffet for a reason. Watching and worrying isn't in line with the intention! :) There's a very good Chinese buffet closed by my home. We prefer to go there…
-
OP, I do that all the time, what others call pigging out, treat days, cheat days, at buffets, regular restaurants or at home on special occasions (birthday, graduation, etc). I don't suppose you can eliminate going to special occasions or going and only watching other people eat, can't you? I don't change or want to change…

Thanks, sijomial. Do you know if an x lbs gain after a certain number of hours is like the final result of that meal, or if certain foods (or the way the body works) continue to "unpack" slowly the calories after that and cause more weight increase? It's so interesting to look at the nature of fluctuation.
-
You cannot NOT (temporarily) put on 1-5 lbs after a full treat day. It's not for the faint of heart. Eating well every other 3, 4 days to me is like 1 step back 2 steps forward.
-
Whole milk + lots of sugar + crush ice + a blender.
-
OP You have to be confident, basically know with certainty, that you will limit with the other days. You can't be upset or negatively emotional over a few lbs gain because negative emotions can cloud your judgment or sabotage your progress. Doubts can also destroy the enjoyment of your "cheat day". My approach is simple. I…

Another example why it's impossible (and convoluted in this case) to define "lazy". Losing weight (or not) is mostly about priority.
-
Someone's hating on SezxyStef and going around flagging her posts! I don't see anything wrong with the post above. Anyway " Lazy is defined as "unwilling to work or use energy."..." is a poor definition. At the least, people also need proper thinking and emotion in order to be willing to work, use energy.
-
How exactly do you define "lazy"? Is anyone here NOT lazy when it comes to working to obtain a Harvard PHD degree? Give people a break, man. We are who we are and only we have to live with the consequence of our choice.
-
Thanks. Very interesting to me.

Same here. Maybe guys are different! My super binge on last Sunday Mother's Day was mostly on salty foods, and gave me almost 5 lbs gain. It's all gone by this morning (Wednesday). If water stayed back for days or weeks, why would the body still need to hydrate normally?
