  • The only weight loss supplements that were worth it have since been banned. You can use the "ephedrine loophole" as discussed above, but even then its only a very small boost.
  • "The hardest part of going to the gym is putting your gym shoes on"
  • The way we put on and lose weight is genetic. You cant spot reduce or accelerate progress in one area. Body fat melts off all over you body at once (the way a candle melts) for the most part, but typically the last areas to put it on are the first to go.
  • Nutrisystem (and similar) are terrible ways to lose weight. The people who use them learn little to nothing about how to eat for the rest of their life and put the weight right back on...
  • If you snack on nuts and dont weigh them you are playing with fire. Just a small amount can be 50-100 calories. Depending on your deficit a few slip ups in a week may slow or even halt progress. Measuring cups are for liquids - scales are for solids.
  • Do it if it works for you. I'm a much happier person when I eat breakfast. IF is only a calorie control tool - dont hesitate to go back to a normal eating schedule if you struggle with it.
  • I didnt know what BBG was so I had to google it.. Half of what I clicked on is behind a paywall. Looks like a mix of cardio and weight training, just like every other plan out there. It doesnt look terrible, but I would recommend you do something far less complicated. Something like All Pros makes more sense IMO. Its…
  • I asked my dermatolgist about over the counter collagen type creams.. he basically said that if any of them worked, cosmetic surgery would be far less popular and expensive. The laser is very spendy, but its about the only thing that works. He said this while trying to talk me out of getting laser surgery or skin pen for…
  • I love my Charge HR, but I'd get a Blaze if I was buying one today. I use Spotify on my phone at the gym and having to take it out to change songs is a pain. Plus, the Blaze looks like a real watch and doesnt scream fitness tracker IMO
  • I really recommend an established program like All Pro's, Icecream fitness, 5x5, starting strength, etc. Google will turn up tons of results. If its not a full body routine filled almost entirely with compound lifts, its not a good program. Until you REALLY learn the ins and outs (ie: a few years of seeing progress and…
  • Meds can increases and decrease your hunger and some may even affect metabolism (much less than you'd think), but they cant overcome the power of the almighty calorie. It still comes down to how much you eat.
  • People have covered things well - you need to count calories and keep them controlled to lose weight. BUT, be careful if you are still breast feeding. Reduce calories slowly and listen to your body. Reducing too much, too quickly, can slow or even stop your milk supply. Fennugreek and Brewers Yeast (tastes horrible!) work…
  • There are no long term studies documenting the safety of ketogenic diets in healthy people. Lots of people think they are perfectly safe (and they likely are), but theres no proof. Most if not all of the studies done with any length of time were conducted on sick people. There is some benefit to ketogenic diets over simply…
  • Ketogenic diets may be slightly more effective than balanced diets in helping morbidly obese people to lose weight (only a few %, and its debated by other studies). The main reason to do it is if you find it easier to stick to long term than a balanced diet. Some people do, some people dont. The same deficit with a…
  • Rest is critical to improving your physical health. Your body doesnt get stronger while you exercise - in fact the opposite is true! We exercise so that during rest, the body repairs itself to be stronger than it was before and better prepared for the next workout/famine/angry bear/etc.
  • The number of doctors who still see saturated fats as harmful is rapidly shrinking. Waves of new research have shown it to actually improve blood lipid panels in much higher quantities than were previously recommended (beyond that, like all thing however, may be harmful). Being that you are seeking to do this specifically…
  • Lyle is the man
  • In simple terms, strenuous exercise damages the muscles (dont worry - its a good thing, and its why the body builds them back stronger). In order to repair the damage, the body uses water to transport nutrients to the muscles. This results in increased water retention, and it can be very significant depending on how much…
  • This is nonsense and a myth that needs to die. Metabolic adaptation is real (over very long periods of time at very little caloric intake), but it will never adapt enough to over compensate for a large enough caloric deficit. If it did, the body would violate energy conservation and it would be basically impossible to…
  • Pretty much. Your BMR and TDEE will vary somewhat from the calculators, but thats easy to adjust for. Its likely that any variance will be smaller than inaccuracies in counting (even if you weigh everything, which you should).
