  • Thanks for all the tips. My list has gotten bigger for sure.
  • I decided to bank it for the express purpose of enjoying a beer on Sunday at my office X-mas dinner.
  • It was a busy day and I didn't end up eating all my food at lunch. Not hungry enough to eat all of it for dinner.
  • BC guy here (although was born in TO). Feel free to add me.
  • I'm also in search of friends to keep on track with. I'm 35 and am active daily (cycling, running and gym). I've been eating out way too often so my first goal is to knock that back to 1 meal out a week and to make lunches for work and dinner. Definitely not in the same time zone because I'm on the west coast of Canada.…
  • I'm also getting back on track. I wish you luck!
  • My journey is full strength training and exercise as I want to be fit not skinny. Feel free to add me.
  • So it's okay for you to tell people your way of eating in response but not me? I get called out for giving a road out just because mine is not in line with yours? If someone doesn't want to follow my advice fine but that doesn't mean it's not valid. You are right about eating within your calories for the day will result in…
  • So telling someone specifics is harmful? Please. Everyone can exercise 3 days a week. All it means is to move your body, go for a walk, take stairs instead of elevator, dance while cooking, etc. Eating whole foods is the ideal way to lose weight and isn't complicated. Eat stuff that doesn't have packaging and has the…
  • Is that not what I said??? "Those are my top tips" What part of that is confusing to you?? It will work with anyone, even you! Doesn't mean it's the only way. Chill the hell out.
  • Don't diet, it does NOT work. Eat whole foods for 80 - 90 % of the time. Log everything! Eat to be healthy and fuel your body. Exercise 3 - 5 times a week. Enjoy a small treat if you must a couple times a week. Those are my top tips and if you follow them you can't go wrong. Good luck!
  • I started a blog to help myself document the differences I have been seeing in myself during my journey to health. It has really helped me.
  • I am a mountain bike instructor and would suggest watching this video. It goes over all the basics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkvWp5ypjg0 Check out other videos by Global Mountain Bike Network on Youtube as well. They have a ton of videos on techniques to improve your riding. Most important tips I would say are: Look…
  • Had a chat with a PT at the gym this morning and went over my workout. He suggested keeping going if I am progressing and if I stall then to consider changing things up. He also suggested upping my calories by a bit just to make sure I am not starving muscles. I changed my settings to reflect his advice. Thanks again to…
  • I have done a program similar to Stronglifts a few years back but stopped due to non related injury. I have been lifting since December. I already have a pretty muscular body because I work a physical job. I have been pretty happy with my current routine that works my whole body and am definitely getting stronger. I think…
  • I have some gym experience and am quite active in other aspects such as hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. I wouldn't call myself a beginner...maybe intermediate. I have done plenty of HIIT and running in the past as well. This is however the first time I have really paid attention to diet and strength at the same time.…
  • Consider too that Fitbit is not very accurate. I had one and it said I was taking steps while I was doing dishes. Something on the order of 150 steps. I also went for a run with the Fitbit and my Garmin chest HRM and the Fitbit over calculated my calories by 120 on a 25 minute run. Needless to say I brought the Fitbit back.
  • Thanks for you input. I am curious about a couple points. Why do you suggest I move onto a Stronglifts style program? I currently include barbell squats, deadlifts and bench press in various forms (barbell, dumbbell and dumbbell incline) a couple times per week. Generally on more focused days I do arms/back and usually…
  • Hey all! I have been using MFP for just under 2 weeks. Working on losing weight and building muscle and strength. It would be cool to have some people to exchange support with. A little about me: I am an avid cyclist - both mountain and road cycling I snowboard but want to learn to ski I have lost 15 pounds since December…
