  • From my experience eating plenty of protein stops your body from eating your muscles. Regular feeds of protein and fat during the day not only keeps you satisfied, but your body will use your fat stores first, then if not enough protein available then uses your own muscles for its protein source.
  • On a LCHF diet your craving for sugar goes way down. Protein is filling and satisfying and takes away those cravings. In saying that I do occasionally eat a little bit of dried fruit. It is the only treat I have.
  • I don't think it's ever ok to be hungry when on a diet. If your hungry you're on the wrong diet for you. I eat LCHF, and have small regular weight losses. Protein is filling and takes a longer time to digest. I suggest more protein and fat in your diet, and less carbs. It's worth a try
  • I always weigh food the way I'm going to eat it. If I'm eating it cooked I weigh it cooked.
  • What is the base made of? What does fathead mean?
  • I tend to count calories and carbs and weigh myself twice per week. That's how I keep myself accountable. I stick to 1200 calories a day. It is not hard. I find protein and fat satisfying and I don't have that hungry feeling I used to on other diets. Keeping it interesting can be a challenge but I'm learning new recipes.
  • Sorry to hear that a few of you have been unwell. No sickness here. I'm feeling great. 7kgs down. My skin is clear, I'm sleeping well. Low Carb high fat eating has stopped that bloated feeling and energized me.
  • I try not to think of it as a diet. I go one day at a time and try to keep making good choices. I've stopped buying bread, rice and pasta, because I don't need them. That's what makes me fat. I'm sticking to low carb high fat because it suits me. That's the key I think. Doing what suits you and you can happily live with.
  • Olive oil and butter are my favorites to cook with. I find coconut oil has no flavour. Avocado oil is lovely in salads. Pesto is good over steak or chicken.

  • I'm losing weight successfully and not doing much exercise at all. And you don't need to eat a ton of vegetables every day either. Why don't you try a low carb high fat diet. You'll feel full after a small meal, crave less sugar and the weight will fall off, like it is doing for me. (7kg in 7 weeks). Friend me and look at…
  • All sorts of support here. Just ask any question and lots of people will advise and guide you. I did and I'm doing really well
  • I started on LCHF 8 weeks ago. I cut out all sugar. Protein and fat definitely keep hunger and your sweet tooth at bay. So i highly recommend it. But I occasionally have a bit of dried fruit. It's very sweet so I don't need much, and it's become a special treat. So once or twice a week only. That's something you could try.…

  • Yes a calorie amount would be good. I just listed each ingredient in my diary separately.
  • Pork rinds? I'm in Australia. Are they pork crackle? If so they are covered with a powder that contains carbs. So not sure...
  • I weigh myself only when I feel like I've lost a bit. You know that feeling when you get up in the morning and feel a bit lighter. I'm usually right, but in reality about once a week. I seem to notice really small loses like .2.
  • I count calories and carbs. It helps me keep my portion sizes down.
  • I see faces everywhere. In the garden, trees, grass, the curtains, the carpet, everywhere. I often point them out to people but no one sees them. Once I saw the perfect face of a baby in my bedroom curtains. Soon after my son told me that they were expecting. If I close my eyes I see a face appearing then another one over…
  • Can someone please tell me how to add a friend. I read all the posts but how do I friend someone?
  • Hello branchmillsmom. Congrats on such a large WL in the past. That's superhuman. It's all a matter of getting your head in the right space. Once you're in that space WL seems effortless. I'm currently in that space. I've had no choice a few times lately to eat bread while I'm out ( all my friends want lunch at the bakery…
  • So many people will knock you when what you need is support. I don't talk about my diet to anyone, because I know that will happen to me too. So I keep my diet here. There's so much help and advise here.
  • Canned sardines tuna or salmon in oil. Eat the whole can. Cook meat in butter. Cream in coffee. Cream cheese on ham. Fresh veggies every day. Keep carbs low. Result - NO hunger, no sugar cravings, stable blood sugar, stable triglyceride level, PLUS regular weight loss.
  • I've just been reading the benefits of coffee/caffeine. It seems coffee in moderation does no harm. It definitely revs some people up a bit by boosting their energy levels. Is that bad?
  • Be careful of undereating. Your body detects a famine and your metabolism slows down. Therefore affecting your weightloss efforts. Eat small regular nutritious meals and keep your engine revving like a V8.
  • I seem to have an intolerance for gluten. I've been checked for celiac, but I'm not. So the pain in the stomach I get after eating bread cake or anything with flour could be an intolerance. Since starting LCHF no pain. Happy days
  • I am just 5ft tall. Currently I'm 152. No idea what I should be? Medium frame. Can anyone advise me?
  • Extremely well said MonicaRAmbs. I see you are well read on the subject which is all completely accurate. People will always knock what you say and plenty here are doing it. But you are inspiring.
  • All these brekkie ideas are truly amazing. Who says dieters don't eat well? Not me......
  • I melt butter in the pan then add canned salmon and cream, and sometimes a cheese slice. Stir very gently till heated through. Serve with black ground pepper. My husband has it over fettuccine. I have it straight on the plate. Yum
  • It depends on what your 1200 calories are. They should be fat, protein, and veggies. The possibilities are endless with these 3 things. Experiment with recipes, and drink plenty of water. Keep carbs under 50g if possible. If you must eat bread eat it in the morning, and if you're hungry before bed have a slice of ham or a…
