I'm another just turned 60 lady- down 18 pounds and about 15-20 to go. At the halfway mark I'm really starting to see a difference- been walking 5 days a week as my primary exercise (I love just getting outside in the sun/fresh air)- bravo to all the ladies here! We still got it going on girls!

I'm using Map my walk on my phone- distance seems accurate, not sure about calories burned-seems high. But overall, I'm liking this app better than the inaccurate pedometer I was using. This is one of several apps from Map My Fitness. I like that the app actually creates a map of where you're walking- gives you distance-…

Way to go! You look fabulous and probably feel that way too! Thanks for sharing

I think it's both motivation and self-discipline. Lots of things keep me motivated; when that feeling ebbs it's discipline that keeps me going. But...I'm constantly looking for motivators as it keeps things interesting for me-the 5 pound mini-goals, the pants I want to fit into, the healthier blood work, the special…

I'm 60 and started hopelessly unfit :p ( much more unfit than you I'd imagine). I have lots of nagging aches and pains but found that walking is what I like best- (I also get really bored with exercise). Started with only 1 mile and now do about 3- for me it's about being outside-fresh air, sun, and walking in a pretty…

4 miles today on wooded trails- so nice!

I'm 5' 3''- at 145 I'd be around a size 10. I have wide hips and never had a small waist-

breakfast- Bran flakes w/skim milk/blueberries- coffee w/cream/stevia lunch- Turkey, spinach, tomato sandwich on Dave's Killer thin sliced bread-light mayo dinner- grilled sirloin steak, large garden salad, roasted new potatoes snacks- apple with PB2 Love Crunch granola bar

Yeah-I'm starting to see this too-have lost 17 of a 35 pound goal. I honestly didn't notice anything much, than a few days ago, I just felt smaller all at once-like some weird quick shrinkage.

That I don't use nearly as much make-up on my thinner face. When my face was a puffy ball, I definitely used more makeup. Oh...I'll accentuate my eyes so they won't focus on my 2 chins....

working out twice a day gives you have lots of wiggle room- but the 19 hours without food? I'll leave that one to you- :D I do know a few people who do the 16hr fast- I feel like I'm fasting if I don't have a snack between meals- :p
-
Curious- how many calories do you eat in that 5 hour window?
-
I'm also cold so much more- been walking a lot (I'm in New England) and since temp dropped it takes hours for me to warm up after. I even put blankets in the dryer on high and then wrap up in them! It's odd as before I was always complaining about being hot all of the time!

How on earth did you lose 34 pounds in 9 weeks? I've lost 17 in 14 weeks and I'm thrilled with this.
-
When I socialize, eat junk, and have a few drinks, I cut calories for several days after to compensate-I'm sure I'm much older than you so don't do this as frequently, and I mostly eat a super healthy whole food diet most of the time- But I need the splurges here and there or I'll go insane. Remaining active will give you…

Yeah- I'm thinking that the distance/time looks pretty accurate, but not the calories burned- thank you all for your responses.

That's great! I've been walking as well and started off with 1 mile- now up to 2.5 miles (I'm 60 and have been an avid couch potato for the last few years)- 3 miles will be in the near future. So good for you- well done!

hmmmm...good to know- wonder how well it tracks in the woods....there was about a half mile difference between my clip on pedometer and the GPS app. Not a big deal if you're a super distance walker- but I'm fairly new at it so would like to keep accurate track of my progress. Thanks for response

Incredible! I bet you're having some real fun shopping for clothes now! You look wonderful

17 pounds in 3 months

I was a sugar junkie as well- I just find much lower sweet things I can eat that fit into my daily calories- such as Halo Top ice cream, chocolate graham crackers, yogurt with fresh fruit, healthy granola bars (the Love Crunch and Kind bars are really good). You have to be willing to make some concessions and really want…

I totally agree- being fat is not healthy, and although I don't think one's self-esteem should be completely tied to one's body weight, I also don't think that positively embracing one's fat body is acceptable or healthy either. My goal isn't to be thin, but simply to be healthy- average to a bit chunky is fine with me-…

Poop doesn't weigh much-I get up-pee- and weigh myself

Hello there- for me it just got to the point that I hated being fat more than I hated the idea of the changes I'd have to make; I simply became disgusted with myself. I'm 60, and because of a messed up arm/shoulder, I've been walking as my primary exercise. I've done lots of different exercise programs in the past, but…

I'm 60- lots of aches and pains- some arthritis- pain in knees- walking is what makes me feel the best. Some days I'm really dragging, other days I'm speeding along full of energy. Walking in nature is great for the immune system as well (trails in woods, ocean, etc.). Trees actually give off chemicals that are very…

MPF set mine at 1200 (1 pound a week) but I changed it to 1300 (before any exercise) Been losing a pound a week no problem- I also eat maintenance calories once every 7-14 days to keep from going insane and this doesn't affect loss either. My CW is 178 lbs.
-
Yep-I agree. When I'm heavier I spend far more time getting dressed as I'm trying to cover up my fat and still look nice- when I'm thinner I'm not hiding in my clothes- makes dressing much faster and easier for me anyway.
