  • I make my own coffee at home (Caffeinated), Jamaica Blue Mtn Blend from Costco. A dollop of heavy whipping Cream and a touch of vanilla extract. I drink three cups. No sweeteners of any kind. Around 4 pm, I have a cup of Earl Gray, hot. That's it--no soda.
  • I tell you, meeting a doctor with a god complex for the first time was a real shocker. The stress test makes sense, take a pill to excrete all the fat you ate because you have bound up the bile chemically? Unbelievable in this day and age! Why not just eat Olestra or ex-Lax? Same results - adult Pampers.
  • Can we have a class action lawsuit?
  • Thanks for the video links. I have finally had time to watch them, very interesting. I started K-2 a few weeks ago and as a result of the video have now upped my dosage to 100, twice a day. Have ordered another bottle on Amazon, Lightening deal today. It may or may not regress the calcification, but at least there is the…
  • So I saw the cardiologist this morning. I received no answers to any of my questions and felt I was fighting an uphill battle with him. He wants to do a treadmill stress test next week. Fine, I'll do it. He wanted to put me on Zetia to lower my cholesterol by preventing absorption from the gut, I refused. He seemed…
  • Here's the thing. My Dad had a quadruple bypass in his mid 70's. He went from a strong and vibrant person to a fail old man. Within months of his heart surgery he underwent the carotid roto router procedure and suffered a mild stroke. After that his life was progressively worse, with numerous small strokes taking his mind…
  • Hi all. Update so far. My husband's calcium score was last week was about 560. He's 65. Very sobering/depressing to both of us. My appointment at Emory Cardiology is at the end of the month. Not sure what to discuss there, maybe a redo on the calcium scan to check the size of the lumen? My relative who is a surgical nurse…
  • Byetta...did not really work. Side effects include Pancreatitis. Been there, done that. Huge black and blue marks. Januvia, my husband used...did not work to any great extent. All this kitten stuff is EXPENSIVE!! The only thing that worked to control glucose for us was LCHF, less than 20 carbs per day.
  • Awesome News about your Calcium Scan! I am telling everyone I know to get one.
  • In this discussion, let us not forget the "Revenge of the Wow Potato Chips", the "healthy" alternative back then. After my Dad had a bypass, I thoughtlessly told him about it, and he ate the entire bag! Poor man, he really suffered gastric problems with those. All this artificial stuff is going to come back and bite us in…
  • I tend to stay away from artificial sweeteners since I read somewhere that they raise your insulin level just as if you were eating real sugar. So it is not a big loss considering my diabetes and everything else going on. And things do taste a lot sweeter as a result!

  • When I was pregnant back many years ago, I had gestational diabetes (should have been my first clue) and had yeast infections. Please...check yourself out for this.
  • I believe the person meant vegetable seed oils and that is an issue for a different thread. Hyperinsulemia causes weight gain, not the other way around. It is a complex metabolic issue that has been vehemently argued about on these discussion boards. Just trying to loose the weight without getting to the underlying cause,…
  • You have a smart doctor. I had to discover this on my own. I started with taking my sugar six times a day. Pre and 2 hour post prandial. I discovered which foods elevated my blood glucose and eliminated them from my diet. My A1c is now normal and my blood sugars average around 98. You can do a web search for this and visit…
  • Calcium from natural sources, like cheese, canned salmon, sardines and certain veggies is always best.

  • Do you have hyperinsulemia, diabetic?
  • Well, I saw my PCP yesterday and saw the official report. My heart age is 84 and my Calcium Score is worse than 99% of the population. The report did not specify the size of the lumen. Generic Crestor, 10 mg, and a referral to a cardiologist for a nuclear stress test and possible cardiac cath was given. He also recommended…
  • I lived off Naproxin with the joint pains, and I dumped it too after I found out it messes with your lipids and is linked to cardiac events. I have enteric coated aspirin for any mild pain, like teeth. I was off the PPI, but all this stress is causing acid reflux, so I had to pop the PPI for the last three days, but it is…
  • I hope you can do the calcium scan because then you will definitively know. Lipid profiles are becoming more and more questionable. My primary doctor doesn't want to put people on statins unnecessarily, which is why he and I agreed for me to do the calcium heart scan. I see him tomorrow, I expect more tests and a…
  • IMO, I don't believe substituting olive/avocado/cold water fish oil for saturated fat is harmful and one can stay within the LCHF guidelines. Obviously genetics are at play here.
  • Black, with a touch of vanilla extract.
  • I use avocado oil based mayo by Chosen Foods. Found it in Costco (so much cheaper than the grocer), Tastes good, but I add a little bit of lime juice to my salmon salad for some extra flavor. I made my own mayo with olive oil last month and it turned out to be too bitter and it separated.
  • I lost so much weight and my glucose has normalized in the ten months I have been on LCHF. But, over 62 years of MAD, the arterial damage was already done and I would not have known about this silent killer had I not learned about the Calcium Arterial Scan on this discussion board. It may have saved my life or a least…
  • There was a Groupon for a facility in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area of Atlanta for $50, but the interstate had a fire and fell down, so traffic in the area is a complete and worse than total mess. I went to Emory at John's Creek since it was an easy drive.I would like to see everyone get this test. Butter Bob is great! I…
  • I am not going off low carb, it is controlling my diabetes, plus I have lost the weight. I am going off saturated fats and looking into the Mediterranean Diet. Not sure what else I can do. I now have an appointment with my PCP and looking for a referral to an angiogram. Thanks for the links. Yes, 27 years, religiously, on…
  • From what I gather on the internet, The Mediterranean Diet, exercise, and unfortunately, statins can reduce the plaque. I hate the thought of statins, but, I have to get a grip that I have atherosclerosis. Perhaps there is one that will not cause me joint pain. Goodbye butter, bacon, sausage, homemade Cheese sauce, and…
  • I went for my Cardiac Calcium Score this morning. The results were not good, and I am angry, fearful to the point of tears right now. After being on statins since the early 90's, when my Dad had a triple bypass back then, my coronary arteries are now loaded with plaque. So that is about 27 years on statins (with great lab…
  • Current Weight 147.2 Revised Goal Weight 140.0 (former goal weight was 145) The closer I get, the more I slip slide away! Very slow, these last few pounds.
  • Forgot, they also give a Framingham score.
