I have experienced both the low fat diet of the 70s & 80s which raised all blood markers for bad health in me and put me at risk of disease. I have also been Keto for 2 years and finally have resolved my blood issues. I will say that Keto or LCHF is not for everyone the choice is yours to make. I will leave with a few…

Hi Kallie93S, I am by no means an expert, as many helpful folks are in this group I am finding my way through this group with much help and advice. My reason for Keto is more about health than weight loss but I still need to lose a few more! I have been where you are, when you are fat adapted you will eat between 50&60…

Organic Bakers chocolate 100% cacao dripped on a few pecans, berries, or alone on parchment paper in the freezer for a few, done! Not diabetic 4.8 A1C. 1/2 a Quest bar would trigger a need for more of any food. 20 Months in, elimated that c**p. ✌️

I've always gone by the numbers, a hyperlipidemic 54 yo. Male sw. 264 cw. 233 gw.180. I have been Keto and low carb for 16 months so I just wanted to share my numbers from the past 7 months. I have tried to inform folks about this woe but I'm fine if they don't get it. No I did not lose 25lbs. in the first 8 weeks, it's a…

I make a burger bun maybe twice a month and that's it. No pancakes or other bread substitutes needed for me. Trust me when I tell you that 16 months ago I could devour a 3/4 loaf of fresh french bread in a blink. ✌️

Lol! I'll be sliding into home plate mangled with Kerrygold in my veins. Keto On Brother!

RalfLott, Come on Man! We are disease/metabolic losers. I am more than happy to refresh anything at 54yo. Lol!

Thank You nvmomketo, I guess that I was thinking about lowering my fat intake due to my condition. I will attempt to up my calories slowly for a few weeks to see if that does the trick or maybe carb cycling. As I see it I have nothing but time so if takes a few years, so what! It's a double edged sword for me as…

ccrdragon, eerigrg, nvmomketo, ladipoet, I really appreciate your assist on this as I have always felt that I have not been eating enough to lose but feeling totally satiated. I do not have hypothyroidism nor do I measure my food. I realize this is a scientific diet so I will be purchasing a scale. I must say that in the…

ccrdragon, Thank You! I am 6'1" 240lbs eating 1,400 calories daily with 16/8 intermittent fasting and weight training.

Yipes is correct RalfLott! My water weight came off in the first five months of Keto but nothing since, starting weight 265, current weight 240 and holding. I am trying to achieve a goal weight of 190lbs. I've used the sticks to measure ketones, my results are always 5-15 no matter how much exertion I perform in a fasted…

Finally a reply, sorry for the wait and Thank You! Yes, I've tried niacin as prescribed by my doctor but found it to be not as effective as Lovaza prescription fish pills( 4grams pet day) . Yes, coconut oil helps HDL but remains to be fat in the blood. Currently taking a generic of Lipitor 20mg, hate it! I may reduce my…

Once again, Thank You nvmomketo!

Eh nvmomketo, Unfortunately, I know the risk of statin use as I have been on them before, but refuse to take them again due to muscle weakness/cramping. My thoughts are lose more weight and increase HDL through lifting weights and the HDL will eventually will clean the VLDL dropping my triglycerides. You are awesome! Only…

Only because folks never believe me when I tell them my triglycerides were over 3,000 before Keto. Unable to calculate, diagnosis: genetic hyperlipidemia.

Thank You for asking RalfLott, my apologies in my late reply as I guess I'm a little pissed that the doc wants me on a statin. My CRP is 0.88 which is good but the panel not so much. This weeks test: I guess I'll have to Up my carbs a bit for more veg and eat less meat. I'm not really sure?? Any advice would be helpful,…

RalfLott, I have never had a coronary artery scan but I'll check into it. My most recent labs show: sodium serum of 143 which is on the high side but within range, calcium serum is 9.2 and within range, Crp I will get tomorrow, magnesium is low at 1.5. I know! Vitamin D is in range. Thanks for your help, I Will check in…

Lol! I have to laugh when tourists come to town and realize it's not shorts weather year round. Maybe a little Kerrygold butter or coconut oil rub on those nose hairs.
-
Hey nvmomketo, I have been on Keto for a year. BTW, I live in NV Summerlin. Lol!
-
RalfLott, Before Keto A1c was 5.7 after 1year on Keto A1c is now 4.9. Blood pressure until recently has been higher on Keto which is a head scratcher but guessing it's my salt intake. I average 132/87 a touch high but I am 54 years old.
-
Thank You nvmomketo! Continued success to you!
-
Much Thanks RalfLott!

Honestly RalfLott, I'm not clear on fasting triglycerides but I can say my cholesterol was 860. I have intermittent fasted for the past year at 16/8 no snacks and one meal a day. I am not a fish lover but 4grams of Lovaza has helped considerably as I could never stomach that much fish daily. Any insight or advice would be…
