Sounds like your mom needs some education. Unless she is deliberately trying to sabotage you. But before assuming that, sit down, explain how many calories you can eat in a day, and then explain the caloric content of some commonly used foods, like a pat of butter. Make up a few meal plans and share them with her.

I think the difference in waist measurement is significant- at least several inches, and it's off your abdomen, where it is dangerous to accumulate fat.
