For a white elephant gift exchange I once received a jar of pickled pigs feet. I was stuck with this one ha-ha. As a surprise bonus, when people were leaving, someone who got fruit-cake left it behind. I grabbed it because I like fruitcake...so the night was not a total loss.

I agree, in general, with the article. I also think that the January flood actually starts backing off around the end of January and things are pretty much back to normal by mid-February. AND Those gym-newbies that are there on February 15 are probably going to make it.

Absolutely, including my wonderful sausage-mac-and-cheese stuffed fatties

Spin class tonight - too dark to ride when I get off of work. No longer alone for the next few months is my new answer.

Ditto If they did that then they would have to ask the stinky peeps to shower too. If this position does become a reality, I think the job title for this new position should be "gym-sniffer"

Cycling on the KATY Trail next to the Missouri River in central Missouri...

Sweet success! Amazing journey! You look amazing as well. Congrats!!!

I am going to take a stab at answering this based on historical information. Early man, think way back to neanderthals, died out about 40,000 years ago. Homo-sapiens, as a species, has been around for almost 200,000 years. Archaeological evidence points to them being HUNTER/GATHERERS. Hunting and gathering was humanity's…

I cycle and in the icky winter months I do a spin class at the gym. I too have bad knees and cycling/swimming are both low impact. When I am sprinting on my bike (14-15 mph on the trails) I can easily burn 750+ calories per hour. FWIW - the spin class can be really demanding. I would suggest looking up some YouTube videos…

I really HATE running but have to do it for the Sprint-Tri's I train for. What I found out is I LOVE complaining about running even more than I hate it - so it all works out :-) Seriously though - I agree with the earlier suggestions to try some new routes. The only thing I hate about new routes is they seem to be longer…

I agree with @RunRutheeRun and @Spliner1969. Your plan is reasonable! Enjoy some treats and when you do increase your calories, be sure to eat luxuriously and enjoy some of the things that you have had to reduce from your diet to get to goal. Oh yeah - CONGRATS on making it to goal and to maintenance!!!

Points to the OP for trying the plant based diet diet for a year. Points to the OP again for easing back into meat. I read all of these posts, and I am glad most were not snarky, because I have trouble understanding why, unless there are medical reasons, people can eliminate entire food groups...like meat. I know some…

I had 6 battered and fried chicken wings for lunch today (mmmmm) and I just completed my "bourbon cleanse" yesterday evening B) Of course, back when I was the former Fatty-McFatty version of myself, I would have eaten maybe 18 battered and fried chicken wings

KATY Trail, central Missouri - Totally alone on this particular stretch of the trail. The Missouri river is on one side of the trail and 110 feet tall limestone bluffs are right behind me.

I use whole bean, freshly ground coffee and drink it black. Maybe 1 or 2 calories since I don't use a paper filter and some of the bean oils make it through. If you add anything to my coffee, I will switch to water and do without. BTW - my faves are Sumatra, Costa Rican, and Kenyan AA If I have to drink store-bought…

I never really consider what I do as fasting, but I try not to snack after supper...so I am essentially fasting from 6:30 PM until about 6:00 AM. Snacking after supper puts on the pounds for me. P.S. Drinking wine or bourbon during this time does not count against fasting ;-)

My farm is my lab. So "technically" I have been eating lab grown meat for a while ;) We plant alfalfa, ladino clover, forage beans (which is in the following pictures), purple top turnips, kale (3 varieties), rape (3 varieties), chickpeas, radishes, wheat and oats in our food plots at various times of the year. Here are…

I just read through this - never heard of Freelee and I am glad...but now I am curious. First things first though. I have to get back to my bourbon-detox... bbl

@jesslla great job on losing the 45 pounds!

We received a gift of essential oils with an ultrasonic mister. It works great to cover offensive smells in the toilet. I read the box with great enjoyment. They were talking about how this was the cure for just about every conceivable malady until around the mid-1800's...So it must still be good now (is what was implied).…

Amen brother! I do love deer and turkey season, not just because of the hunt, but also because of the long hours I get for solitude, reflection, thinking, and seeing things that most non-hunters or non-nature lovers would ever think of seeing. I have seen countless sunrises and sunsets, watched frost grow on my deer stand,…

There was no hidden meaning in my post...nothing was "embedded." I wrote about my personal experience. And my personal experience leads me to the same conclusion: If you want something bad enough you will sacrifice to get it because the reward is worth the sacrifice.

Never heard of this...looked it up...going to make it for sure. Thanks for your awesome post! Short, sweet, and to the point :-)
