I walk a lot. Averaging 13,000 steps a day now. I've also been running, and do a fair bit of eliptical. What makes the most difference exercise-wise is resistance/weight training. When I don't get to the gym, weight loss slows down. What I eat matters most though. I find I really need a mix of eating well, weights and…

What changed to make you start enjoying it? Tonight will be my final run in the C25K program. I love the challenge, and completing it, and really like being able to say that I can run 5k...but I don't particularly enjoy the actual running part. I think I'd like to, though.

Agreed. I use the lower number, then I typically eat back 50-75% of my exercise calories to leave a buffer for innaccurate counts.

A two pound gain in one day is a lot. Two pounds is 7,000 calories. You probably didn't overeat by that much. I'd look at things like did you weigh yourself at the same time each day? Were you wearing the same clothes each time, or no clothes? Did you go to the bathroom first? These things all have an impact for sure.…

Well done. That 20 minute run is surprisingly doable. I temember being worried about it going in, and feeling that it wasn't that bad afterwards. The program really works :)
-
I'd try it. Worst case you miss and back up a bit. Best case, you nail it and feel like a rock star :)

That's awesome, congrats!

My favourite part of Onederland so far - the way I surprise myself when entering my weight on the treadmill. I keep going for the 2 to start my weight. Then I remember, and switch to the 1 :)
-
Did my first 30 minute run tonight on the treadmill. Tried it outside yesterday, but it was too hot for me. I'll try to do the next couple outdoors.
-
Decided not to wait, tackled it again tonight and finished it. Did it on the treadmill, it was pretty muggy outside. Two more runs to finish the program, I'll get them both outside if I'm able.

Good week :)

Tried week 9 day 1 a couple times yesterday. Struggled with it for various reasons, didn't finish. I'm taking it down tomorrow night, though.

The feeling of something being too loose to wear ia nice :). If that is happening, the reaults are there. Keep at it, the scale will catch up!

Nice! So close to hitting the challenge :)

Thanks. 6:30 is fine for now for sure. My goal is to get it to 6, just to match up with the program - it is laid out to do 5k in 30 minutes, which reequires a 6 min/km pace. So that is the goal, not in any big rush to get there though.

Good stuff!

Pretty good reason to keep doing them :)

Ok, I've heard a version of that on podcasts from the guys that runs marksdailyapple.com. Same idea, he talks about eating like cavemen ate, cuz they didn't get fat. Sounds reasonable. The same guy pushes lower carb intake as well. I get the science of low carb, just not sure how long I personally could do it for. Glad…

Week 8 complete. Pace is a little alow still, at 6:30/km, but that'll come with time. Bring on the 40 minute run :)

I haven't really tried low carb. Or Paleo (don't actually know what it is). I definitely try to eat less refined carbs - more whole grains, stuff like that, so that the carbs I eat are healthier, and I try to keep within my calorie goals, and hit my macro and micro goals set by MFP, but that's about the only meal plan I'm…

I often have steel cut oats with greek yogurt and fruit (usually bananas, peaches and strawberries). I mix it up at night and leave it in the fridge over night. Soooooo good!
-
Lol. I don't mind weights/resistance training. Running is kind of a pain - but I'm looking forward to finishing a 5k run. I remember cursing at the program at the start, waiting for my 90 second runs to be over. Now I don't do that until minute 27 :)
-
Good for you, congrats! You've done so well :)
-
That's awesome, great work! I don't really LOVE running, but I love accomplishing the run, and beating the challenge :)

Week 8 day 2 was last nite. Ran this one outside, as it wasn't as hot out as it's been. Definately a tougher run outdoors, but it went fine. I'm averaging about 6.5 min/km, so I'll have to pick up the pace to do 5k in 30 min, but running that long doesn't seem to be a problem.

Mentally, gearing up for the 20 was huge for me. It was really nice getting it done :). It was also not too bad, after sticking to the program.
