  • Non-food is found in huge quantities in what is commonly known as the cereal aisle. It's mostly sugar infused cardboard and goes by names such as Captain Crunch, Coco Puffs, and Pebbles. The really insane thing is that it costs more per pound than Bacon. (Bacon is the measuring stick by which I judge all things.)
  • Thanks! My hobbies of choice are knitting and crocheting. Any other yarn fanatics here? If not, what other hobby or hobbies are represented in this group?
  • How can you build up your resistance to temptation if you are never tempted? And, @ProCoffeenator, it isn't that Coco Puffs aren't on plan, it's that Coco Puffs aren't even food! LoL
  • Gosh, I thought I lived in a small population place. Four miles away is the nearest town with 1,543 and 12 miles the other direction is a town of 1,972. Those are big population centers compared to some of you. The Fall foliage is arriving this week. Even knowing it is a harbinger of the winter to come, it's still one of…
  • What a way to start a Monday! A bit over an hour gone to catching up on everyone's posts here. It's been over three weeks since the last time I visited this group and in that time I've really crapped out on LCHF and gained back too many pounds. Hmmmmm, think there might be a connection? Well, duh! Anyway, it's good to read…
  • I joined here shortly after moving from Montana to Pennsylvania. The Pa is therefore for Pennsylvania. And I moved here to be near my eldest child, hence I'm the mama. Those two make Pamama. But Pamama was already taken so I added the Jane, as in Jane Doe. So it's PamamaJane.
  • I really miss having a huge glass of iced Orange Crush while scarfing down an equally huge bag of Frito Corn Chips. I also miss Tillamook Ice Cream, especially the Marionberry Pie flavor; not only is there no low carb substitute but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere east of the Mississippi. Tillamook Ice Cream just…
  • When I opened this topic this morning it landed on page 7. Thanks to everyone for the nice half hour or so of catch up reading. TV was banished from my home about 20 years ago. Didn't miss it then and don't miss it now. I sometimes YouTube watch things like Property Brothers which I lovingly refer to as Eye Candy. For a…
  • Here's a low-carb ketchup recipe. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/evenbetter_heinz_ketchup.html I'm only offering this because I can barely get enough of sauerkraut with a little ketchup added. A plate of that with some Hebrew National hot dogs and I'm floating in seventh heaven.
  • I do strain my bacon grease with one of those fine mesh strainers. After finding some recipes for things like this spinach salad, I don't really keep the bacon grease long enough for it to go bad.
  • Don't you just hate that? The worst part is that MFP won't post the news feed item that says you've finished your diary and stayed under your calorie goal. Like it's some kind of punishment.
  • Thanks to all of you who took the time and bother to share your experiences. Skipping lunch will be easier than skipping breakfast. Seven decades of "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" has left its mark on me. Today is the day I've decided to skip lunch on purpose. Dinner may end up a little earlier than…
  • I wouldn't eat it because it's "healthy". If trail mix is in my future, it will be the really unhealthy stuff complete with M&M candies! To my mind, that is what trail mix should be. It's okay to eat healthy but decadent food should be left decadent. imho, of course.
  • Thanks, @Phrick Do Something Sunday sounds perfect for me. I went to vigil Mass so the only thing scheduled is a soak in the Jacuzzi to ease my sore back and thighs. My other goal is to get my floors cleaned. (Dark, dark wood floors and a shedding orange tabby don't go together very well.) And when the heat climbs to over…
  • http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/german_salad.html We've had this salad twice this past week and we both love it!
  • Manic Monday? Well it wasn't manic to start. But now that I've spent the last hour and then some catching up on the chat in LCHF forums. . . It will be manic for a bit while I get caught up on the day. That's good, though, as it will mean less eating out of ennui and more moving out of necessity.
  • Ditto to everything already said above. And no matter how much I screw up, fellow LCHF peeps are still accepting and encouraging and loving and welcoming. This is the only place to be in MFP.
  • A bit over on the carbs and quite low on the total calories. I'll take it! I hope everyone is finishing up this week well and ready to give it another go for another week. Maybe I'll keep doing one week at a time until I finally get one week of seven consecutive good days just to prove to myself that I can actually do it.
  • I like the idea of decorative bottles; they would fit right in with my glass collection. I have all things glass in my kitchen -- glass back splash, glass trays, pitchers, plates, etc. And only Pyrex for baking and food storage. Thanks!
  • As many of you already know, I blew the last three days with eating after closing out my diary. Glad to be able to report today is totally back on track and going FINE. My Jim is home from his trip and all is well with the world. There are two more days for me to make this week work. Come on, fellow MFPers, let's finish on…
  • Steak is my go-to if it's on the menu. And I'll drench it in real butter. Steamed veggies for a side. I try to stay away from salads since the dressings are usually full of sugars. Burgers are sometimes a safe bet. Toss the bun, of course and ask to make sure the burger doesn't have carb laden fillers. Fish if it isn't…
  • Thanks for the day-brightening smile.
  • Dangnabit! For all my talk about being able to do this for a week as opposed to pooping out during a month, well, yesterday proved that even a week is too long for me sometimes. All was well until the evening and I can't even remember what all I stuffed into my face. So I'm back at it and will make today within calories…
  • Just for @kathrout1973 above, I offer this little video about Yoga. Hi, @Procoffeenator. Nice idea for a thread. I'm a few years into blissful retirement and just last year moved from Montana to north-central Pennsylvania, mostly to be near to family in my dotage. I built my dream retirement home here on a mountain top and…
  • Ditto on the thanks for the tip and the link.
  • Realizing it is completely intentional makes it even funnier. Thanks for the laugh.
  • Day 3 is past. Dang but if I didn't run my carbs up to 30. Sad story about the lady and a priest going out to dinner. Still, I expect to see the scale down a bit in the morning. Just glad to have this behind me.
