There are all kinds of things people say that are truly not helpful. Things like, "Tall people like you can get away with a few extra pounds and still look good." The worst one to hit me was on another weight loss site where a woman who was my exact same height posted her before and after pictures. Her before picture was…

I actually wore my for real cowboy boots yesterday. You know the boots that have to be pulled on by boot straps and come off only if you’ve got a boot jack. It’s been years since I was last able to get my feet into those boots. Boot scootin’ Mama! That’s me!

Whenever I see someone wanting motivation, I refer back to this post. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/818701/the-myth-of-motivation-and-what-you-need-instead/p1 There is another post out there somewhere I wish I could find and if anyone knows where it is please tell me. The post was about why LCHF often…

Already, my first question. I have some Bigelow Black Tea Blend in the flavor Salted Caramel. The MFP data base says it has zero of everything. But the ingredients are black tea, natural flavors (soy lecithin), rose hips, chicory root. Is it okay to drink flavored teas during the fasting period of IF?

There I go again, posting without thinking. I really didn't mean to say that IF is nothing more than a "fad." But, reading my post, that is exactly what I did. Sorry. I should have engaged brain before posting. What I meant to convey was that in the past six months or so I've gone from having barely ever heard of IF to…

First, I try to stay away from fads. Second, IF is not exactly intuitive to me. Third, my Keto has been working, at least for the most part. Fourth, I can be a stubborn person. While I swore I would N E V E R do this fasting thing, you all have piqued my interest. Thank you.

Three more pairs of jeans headed to the charity shop. When I can put them on and take them off without undoing the button and zipper, it is much too dangerous to continue wearing them.

People may get tired of me doing this, but every time I see a request for "motivation" I think back to this Myth of Motivation post and pass it along.

Linda's Low Carb site is probably the best for good eats on a budget. You won't find recipes for swordfish there but lots of recipes for ground beef and chicken. Link below. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/

Thanks for the reminder that I needed to go back to this topic for a reality check on myself. Maybe it will help you and your friend as well. The Myth of Motivation

Bump so it makes it easier to find when I really need it.

Keep up on your water, tho.

My Fitbit was flopping around on my wrist. Taking up a notch on the band sure felt good.

Hi, friend. Ask to be friends with people who are low carb then check out their food diaries. Those diaries are a source of ideas on what to eat and what not to eat. Also, if you open your diary to your friends they will check up on you and offer suggestions. With very little effort you'll soon be a natural at what you…

Good quality clothes don’t ever really go out of style. A good tailor can make lapels narrower and perform other feats of magic to update clothes.

My ankles no longer swell up every day. It could be the Keto WOE. It could be the 20 lbs lost. It could be the extra walking and activity. Or it could be a combination of these things. Whatever it is, I'm so happy to be able to put on shoes without having trouble and without having muffin tops on my feet!

All very good ideas. Thanks, everyone. I'm going to post a list of these on the fridge until they become habits.

Just a small change from last week. Attending church services means too many times that I can’t reach hourly step goals. So, this week:* Stay under calorie and carb goals * Meet or beat daily step goal * Meet or beat daily activity goal * Increase water intake * Log every bite

I'm gobsmacked! If you feel as terrific as you look, then you must feel just about perfect!
-
Five days in. * Log all food 5/5 <3 * Make or surpass step goal 5/5 <3 * Make hourly 250+ step goals 3/5 >:) * Make or surpass activity goal 5/5 <3 * Make hydration goal 5/5 <3 * Stay under Calorie and Carb goals 4/5 >:) This is much better than I've done in months and months, if not years. Not perfect but I'm happy with…

Missing my 250+ steps per hour today. First Saturday Mass this morning and didn't want to be sitting in the pew swinging my arm back and forth. :p
-
So far, so good. It's encouraging to make all my goals and even more so to make my goals three days in a row. Here's looking forward to another good day.

My wild scheme to walk 100 steps whenever I get up for anything is hereby abandoned. Doing those 100 steps gives me just enough time to completely forget why I got up in the first place! :D Just another proof of getting old. My new plan is to get the minimum of 10 minutes of activity in at the beginning of each even hour.…

Day #2 and I hit all my goals about the same as yesterday. Gooooooo, ME!
-
Here's another procedure I'll be adding to my daily activities. Besides getting my 250+ steps in at the beginning of each hour, I will be getting at least 100 steps every time I get up for any reason. At least 100 steps if I get up to use the bathroom. At least 100 steps if I get up to answer the phone or door. Etc. If I…

Day #1: * Log all food --- DONE * Make or surpass step goal --- Increased from 4K to 5K and came in over that. * Make hourly 250+ step goals --- All 10 hours! * Make or surpass activity goal --- Goal of 30 minutes and I hit 40 minutes. * Make hydration goal --- Better than usual but I still need to work on this. * Stay…
