As a computer science professor, I have waited pretty much my whole life to hear someone speak these words. Thank you for that. :D

Speaking as a senior administrator of a university where we are hyper-aware of this sort of thing, the guy's behavior is inappropriate for a workplace. He thinks its flirting, I consider it harassment. If you don't like it, it is best to let him know that it is unwelcome. Once you do that, if he continues to do it then it…

You offered several reasons why you want him to lose weight, but none of them are particularly compelling to me, because he gets to decide what makes him happy. If eating so much makes him happy, that is up to him. BUT, you also get to decide what makes you happy. If having a healthy life partner who will be around for the…

Apple watch is tracking your movement and heart rate. It isn't clear from your description what information MFP is using to determine your exercise. And is MFP set up for maintenance? A deficit? What is the basis for its 1410 calorie target? If you are trying to lose weight, that is not your total calories for the day, but…

It doesn't really matter. Your body doesn't know what day it is. If you eat very little for a week and then pig out on the weekend, you might feel kind of sick, but if your total calories are the same as if you hit your target every day, the impact on your weight loss will be the same.

Of course, @girlwithcurls2 ! The thought that it may help your daughters makes my day.

Why, thank you, @rainbowbow .

That doesn't sound mad. It sounds ... normal. You had a rough patch and it affected your weight. And you work with some jerks. That's all pretty unfortunate, but it's not the end of the world. Forgive yourself and move on. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, especially the kind of emotional parasites who feed off of…

If you feel well enough to run, run. Trust your body to tell you what it is up for.

She's just my fitness pal.

Nice work and outstanding success! You look fantastic!

Congrats on the weight loss. Don't despair. Any time spent not gaining is progress. Now just ease back into what worked for you before. You can do it!

Welcome to MFP! You are in good company here. Lots of us have been heavy for a long time. Some of us, like me, for longer than you have been alive. It seems like a huge challenge to overcome, but MFP makes it pretty straightforward and the support of others in the community can be a huge help. My suggestion is to think of…

I encourage you to focus on the small lifestyle changes that will help you meet your goal and stay there, and celebrate the small successes that move you in that direction. Every day you log your foods is a success. Every day you don't gain weight is a success. Every day you eat below maintenance is a success. Every day…

It totally depends on your goals. If your goal is to look better, be healthier, feel better, etc., then inches are absolutely as good as pounds as a way of measuring progress. On the other hand, if your goal is to meet some externally defined weight standard that has nothing to do with how you look or feel, then pounds are…

So belly muscles are unique in that way? Completely untoneable? And all those people doing ab work, obliques, etc., are wasting their time? Thanks for clearing that up!
-
That is absolutely progress. The difference in those two pictures is dramatic. The only way to get rid of belly fat is to get rid of overall body fat. BUT, you can tone your belly muscles more so that they show more.

Well done, man! You look like a completely different person. It's hard to believe you did that in only four months!

Dude, how many times do I have to tell you? I'm not a lady, and please stop talking to me while I'm working out!

You are clearly highly motivated. That's an excellent start. It looks like you just need to shift from your current fitness-oriented training to more strength-oriented training. The best way forward might be to hire a trainer, at least for a little while, to help you design a program oriented toward your specific goals.…

Here's another little piece of advice: Keep the goals in mind, but focus your daily efforts on the small, sustainable lifestyle changes that will get you there. Schedule time every week for mindful meal planning and schedule time every day for meal prep, eating, and exercise. Make it a goal to do them every day (and…

I'm grateful for: - My health - My amazing children, who teach me how to be a better person on a daily basis - My fantastic friends, old and new - This incredible community of people - And, in advance, the breakfast I will have after I finish my morning exercises :)

You are so welcome. You can do this!

Here's my one recommendation, based on my own many years of getting it wrong. You have to make yourself, your health, and your well-being a priority. Take care of yourself first and foremost. It is your first responsibility and nobody else will do it for you. That will prepare you to live longer, healthier, do better at…

Those readings are high normal. You're doing great. Testosterone clinics are in the business of selling you services. Most doctors are satisfied if you are well below the levels you are at.

I see a difference in your belly and your arms and it will definitely become more apparent as you lose more weight. It's hard to see it yourself because you see yourself every day, so you get used to the change. Just wait. Keep doing what you are doing, keep weighing yourself to track your progress, and pretty soon you are…
