  • Folks, I did not expect such “intense “ discussion about this subject 😎 Well as I said before I do appreciate input front each of you. I just wanted to emphasize again that my goal is not to get ‘exceptional ‘ results but rather feel well and be in a good shape and etc. No matter how you call it HIIT or not. Obviously I’d…
  • Folks, Appreciate your thoughts! You didn’t get my point 😅 Whatever you say sounds reasonable to me and I also like metrics and etc in many cases doing analysis BUT: I am MD myself and regarding my health I have not trivial but kind of “unusual” approach. I don’t take any medication and obviously not beta blockers 😎…
  • Folks, I appreciate your input. I continue to do HIIT when I'm walking and on stationary bike. As you you suggested I stopped put much attention to heart rate because in my 64 years I can't achieve 156 bpm. I do my best i.e. almost max as I could, I'm exhausted, sweat and etc but hear rate does not rise higher than 120-130…
  • Each of you statement makes sense to me but I would like to see the situation from slightly different prospective. I am in this journey for a couple years and lost more than 100 pounds and my BMI is 25. My point is that I consider myself more or less fit. My point is that it’s became a little bit boring to sustain my…
  • I started to do HIIT and found very interesting app in Apple Store called “Intervals” It’s designed for HIIT and I love it. Do you have any experience using it? Thanks
  • Well... only now I started to believe you 😎 Initially I was skeptical. I am using AW for tracking my pulse. As I said before I set it in range 80-120 and could reach 120-130 for a first few days but now I hardly could make 100 Walking and 110 Cycling. “Intervals” app and AW track it constantly. I do max as I could and I am…
  • Thanks a lot. Appreciate your input.
  • Appreciate your valuable input. I have changed my schedule and now I am doing Cycling for 30 minutes, Walking for 15 or 30 minutes. I do 1 minute intervals and 2 minutes rest I.e. ratio is 1:2. I am 64 years old healthy man and I set range between 80-120 heart beat per minute. I hardly will be able to make it by Walking…
  • Well. Appreciate your input. I started to read some articles related to H.I.I.T. and have some confusion about calculating max heart rate I should keep and range of heart beat during it and etc Anyway I installed app called “Intervals “ which works with Apple Watch and I love it. Does anyone have any experience with it?…
  • I started to explore RunGo for turn-by-turn voice navigation. I am using free version. So far I have a good impression
  • Well ... thanks for all replies Eventually I figured out how to import someone's route into Google Map on my phone but it does not look that it'll give turn-by-turn navigation I like Strava too but does it allow to import a route? Could someone advice how are you doing it? Also I am using 'free' version of Strava and don't…
  • Hi Folks, I'm newbie for cycling. I started to use Strava (free version) and it looks OK but our group moderator creates a route and than send us a map. I use Apple Watch and iPhone. My goal is to import the map. I attached my iPhone to the bike and want to navigate. Will Strava or MapMyRide or any other free app allow me…
  • Folks, I am a little bit confused why you are entering Exercises manually. All my exercise get logged into MFP automatically: walking, stairs stepping, weight lifting. I consider this one of the advantages of AW and MFP that I do not need to do anything manually. Let AW and MFP do it for me
  • Well I am puzzled myself now. I still incline that my AW position on the hand is not stable or rather loose and sensor misread BMP. I've changed the band and now position is stable. I also decided that since I am going to gym anyway .... I will try 'step master ' machine in my gym for 15 minutes a few times(3-4 times)…
  • Again... doing the same Stair Stepper the same distance a few times a day gave too high variations. I could buy some % difference due to my body stat at a given moment but I consider it too high. Today I've changed AW band from metal to original Apple nylon band. I noticed that metal band doesn't provide snuggling and a…
  • Well ... I tried to test my hypothesis about "similarity" between 'Stair Stepper' and 'Others'. I did a few times using one type and then a few times using 'Others'-> 'Stairs'. The value of burned calories was quite close. Then I wanted to do more detailed analysis and realized that even doing same Exercise e.g. 'Other' -…
  • Hi Your input is very valuable (as usual  ) The best thing would be to test ( as usually
  • Well ... I agree with you that the best criteria is to rely on result. In my case I lost 112 pounds for the last 1.5 years using Fitbit and last half year using AW and MFP. Hence it works right. Currently I'm in equlibrium i.e. platou but this is 'normal' in my opinion. Here's my stat: BMR-1557, BMI-25.1. TDEE every…
  • Thanks so much. I hope that I understood the most part of it
  • - Naruya, I forgot to mention in my math above that I had for steps negative value adjustment equals to -433. What that -433 represents? Thanks
  • - Naruya I did exactly as you suggested and set negative adjustment. Now I see 'Steps calorie adjustment' with negative value. E.g. yesterday: goal=1500; food=2223;exercise=723;remaining=0 From AW for yesterday: move=1320;workouts=1155 Well ... here is my math: I burned 1320+1155=2475, correct? From those 2475 burned…
  • Well ... sometime it failed silently, sometimes it states that can't access server and will store data locally but in most cases it works for me. Today I did not have an issue ..
  • I did not find a place in MFP to set negative adjustment. E.g. in my case yesterday I did 40 K Steps and get zero adjustment for it but got around 800 for doing Outdoor Walk. I am very active and never would have negative number but any seeing zero is a little bit weird
  • Your explanation makes sense but still not completely
  • Well ... another finding. I used Steps for counting before but recently started to do Outdoor Walk. Before in 'Adjustment' section I saw how many calories were adjusted because of Steps. Now I see how many calories were adjusted because of Workout but for Steps it is zero. Likely this could be correct ... just a little bit…
  • Well ... I've changed my 'Activity level' in MFP to 'Lightly Active' and it counts i.e. adjust calories less than before. In average I do around 30000 steps per day and MFP adjust it somewhere around 600 cal. I don't think it's correct ... but I'm following it ..
  • It did similar in my case as well. I mean I had to re-do it a few times I.e. Add / remove step tracker and eventually it started to work. I consider it like software glitches
  • Well it works for me nice and adjust calories based on steps like it did for Fitbit
