I never thought of it as a "reward", but I just enjoy shopping for and buying new clothes that now look good on me. I guess in a way, it's a reward, albeit a subconscious one...

I second this ^^^^

I think it's my own brain. I typically over-analyze everything, then at some point just close my eyes, jump in and GO!! Doesn't matter what it is. Big decisions. Small ones. Always been that way. I have a lot of shortcomings, but lack of motivation is not one of them. Highly motivated with a tendency to snarkiness. I would…

I am reminded of my yoga teacher, who was from France - but nonetheless stunned me one day when he said: Some people have really fat thighs, some people have fat stomachs. Others are fat in the butt or have fat arms. But you are lucky. You are fat all over. LMAO. Thanks Francois...

You are absolutely right!! Screw it. I'm dressing up to go grocery shopping.

This is slightly off-topic, but I was just thinking about the casual clothing boom the other day. When I started my own business way back when - my job consisted of going into other businesses to do my work. I ALWAYS dressed up. I loved it. I had a wardrobe of beautiful dresses and luscious heels and sharp handbags. Even…

I can't speak to the effects of social media on obesity. But I can speak to the effects of social media on sanity. Or at least, MY sanity. I deleted my accounts on Facebook, Twitter and all other social media over a year ago. It was the BEST thing I ever did. I feel as if I have found peace again. I do continue to interact…

1. When on my walk, I find money. Any amount. 2. When a cashier thanks me for my purchase. 3. The first night in my bed with clean sheets. 4. The very first sip of a gin and tonic on a hot evening. 5. When somebody lets me merge. 6. Chipmunks 7. A new purse 8. When a wasp gets into the house and I open the door and it just…

I don't know you - or anything specific about your circumstances (married? kids? grandkids? siblings? pets? etc.). Do you have a history of depression? Do you exercise? (Exercise helps immensely with state of mind...) I am 64. These last 15 or so years have been the best of my life. My parents are still alive (94 and 84…

I have been exercising in the early AM (5:00-ish) for years. I have noticed the same things as you - I am really, really, REALLY energetic until about 1:00pm, then I take a nosedive. When I was working - I adjusted my schedule (I was self-employed, so it was easy to do) to take a "break" in the early afternoon for about an…

I put them in my smoothies for texture mostly (One tablespoon). Don't see any effects from them....good or bad...

I LOVE these two ideas!! Thank you!!! :)

That's a great suggestion!! Was trying to think of something and biking never entered my mind. Actually - you can get a real bike and bike outside!!! "I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride my bike. I want to ride my bicycle. I want to ride it where I like." Now there's an oldie but goodie!!! :)

Amaretto and steamed clams.

A very safe bet would be: a ton more sarcastic.

I love hot sauce. Hotter the better. I don't log it. Figure I just sweat it out or burn it off dancing around the room when a really, really hot chunk goes down....

I'm older - 64. I don't say things any differently than I did 50 years ago. The only thing that's different: I just don't listen to anybody anymore - LOL.

Just another voice from the crowd here: my experience has been just the opposite. I'm a 5'4" 64/yo female who went from 183 lbs to 140 lbs. I always used to be cold - now I am always HOT!! At night in bed, just sitting... and I sweat like crazy when exercising and continue to sweat even after taking a shower after…

So bittersweet. I am sorry your parents are no longer with us, but seemingly they could not live without each other....

I'm just trying to wrap my head around the fact that football will soon be starting up again. It seems as if I just watched the Super Bowl!! Where'd the heck did the summer go????

I have found the easiest way to do this is with a FitBit. I set it to "walk" and it seems to measure the calories burned pretty accurately. I compare those calories burned with the treadmill when I do a similar distance and variety of speeds and the numbers are pretty consistent. That being said, I guess you could do a…

I don't have an omelette recipe, as I don't really cook. But I DO have an omelette story. Occasionally I order an omelette when I go out to breakfast. As a rule, the omelettes I have eaten in the US are greasy huge uninspired behemoths laying on the plate like a dead fish. One day, about 15 years ago, I was sitting at a…

Lots of black coffee and a: blueberry, spinach, kefir, water, flax seed, steel cut oats, protein powder smoothie. Yum. But not as yum as some of the posts I've seen on here, I'm sure of that!!! :)

I love your post!! I think about that everyday - how good it feels. Exercise keeps me sane, keeps me positive, keeps me energized, keeps me strong, keeps me toned, keeps my cheeks rosy and blood pumping, keeps me happy. Don't know why sometimes I have to fight with my own brain to do it on some days?!?! *sigh*

If you have been on MFP for over a year, and been very successful (which you have) - I'm sure you have a good idea of calorie count and portion size. Just another point of view here: when I have gone on vacation, I take a break from logging. I just eat "sensibly", have my vacation cocktails, and really ramp up my activity…

IMHO - the day you stop learning new things is the day you may as well throw in the towel. Challenge the body, challenge the mind and challenge the spirit. That's my mantra. Keeps you youthful, sharp, fearless....

Good for you! I started taking boxing lessons last year. I am 64 years old. Having an absolute blast. Love it!! Never too late to begin ANYTHING!! :)

This happened a number of years ago: I had just gotten my first "real job". I was making pretty good money for the first time in my life and decided to purchase a small condo. Shortly thereafter, I splurged and bought a little, red convertible - something I had always dreamed of owning. Well, about six months after these…
