• It sounds like weight loss, muscle building and physical fitness are not your motivations. So I wonder if you could reflect on why you think you would be happier if you worked out? Was that your experience in the past? You won’t be motivated to do something if you don’t have any reason to do it. Ultimately motivation is…
• I think by our 30’s and 40’s we build all kinds of efficiencies into our day that don’t necessarily do any favours in terms of calorie burn. I went for a walk with my 6 year old granddaughter last week. She sat on the floor to tie her shoes, leapt up into the air when she was done, ran up and down the steps three times…
• I think if you have worked out until you are tired then you have indeed “finished a workout.” I second the Fitness Blender workouts on YouTube. Put in your filters and it will be customized to you.
• Good plan! I usually make the servings the same as the number of grams as I find that easier. 733 grams is 733 servings. Then I can just log however many grams I ate
• My youngest is 26. It’s like whitewater rafting. Hang on and try not to fall off the ride. remember that it’s important for you to dislike her somewhat to make it easier when she moves out. Then look back some day and think wow how did I manage that. Also, don’t forget to take care of yourself.
• I don’t know your situation but I can tell you that if one of my kids had offered to make dinner once a week or something I would have jumped up and down for joy!
• Bought a jump rope but went at it too enthusiastically and injured my Achilles. I intend to get back to it but will definitely go slowly and build up to it this time.
• You can probably correct that over the course of the next week by reducing your intake by 1/7 of a calorie each day. 😆
• Sounds just like menopause! But then I see you are male so I guess you will never experience that joy 😆
• I have had to address many subconscious thought patterns. Waste was one of them. One day I realized I could carry the extra food around in a bag with me for the next ten years or I could convert it to fat first and then carry it around, or I could feed it to the critters at the garbage dump. When I thought of it that way,…
• I’m such a lazy butt. Bones, peels and cores are just 25% of the food and I’m done with it.
• To me, the 300 calorie burn seems very high for either running or walking for half an hour
• Original fudgesicle 80 calories Sugar free jello 20 calories Make my own popcorn so I can control the butter 100 calories Good thins crackers with lite laughing cow cheese 100 calories
• Me! I had a stroke last May. I remember walking half a block and being so exhausted and crying because my life as I knew it had disappeared. The first time I rode my bike I not only had a panic attack, but I could not go around a whole block. I kept going with MFP but was (had to be) much easier and gentler about what my…
• I think it’s evolutionary. Our bodies are designed to seek out and conserve calories for our very survival. Because of shift in society we have more than enough food but our brains are still in the mode of “must consume.”
• First, It sounds like you have been losing an average of 3 pounds per week which is a high / quick rate of loss that won’t likely continue over the long term. Depending on how much weight you started with, it may not even be healthy to keep losing at that rate. Secondly, don’t forget that if you are 50 pounds lighter your…
•
How did a watch give you insomnia? I sleep very poorly and track my sleep with mine but I can't imagine how it could cause insomnia.
Part of the reason I got rid of mine was it interrupted my sleep. I kept waking up with this thing on my arm and then I would think about whether I had been sleeping well or…
• “I could track my calories with pen and paper” You just reminded me of the days in the early 90’s when I had a huge book that gave the calorie info for thousands of different foods. Each day I would track my calories by looking it up and writing it down in a notebook.
• I wore a Fitbit for a couple days and it made me feel claustrophobic - I have issues lol. So that was that.
• Welcome! I found it was really helpful to keep track of other markers besides the scale. Things like easier, faster, stronger, less of and more of. It sounds like a big part of your goal is to get healthy for your daughter so those things will be an important part of it. If you look under “success stories” there is a…
• I’m not sure what your goal weight is, but if you are 5’2” and 130 pounds you are already within the range of a normal BMI so you won’t want to be too restrictive. Don’t forget you can eat back (some of) your exercise calories too.
• The OP has told us that she is having trouble building abs, that her net calories are 542 and she has posted a pic of an extremely lean person. The numbers might not be 100% accurate, but the story is being told nevertheless and it is not a healthy one. OP if your net calories are 542, your body will be “eating” your…

• Am I seeing correctly that your net calories are 542? If so, you will not get abs because you are starving yourself. You will also develop many other health problems due to inadequate nutrition. Take care of yourself.

• I never was a clothes person when I was young even though I was thin at the time - just never had a good sense of my own style, or any body confidence. In the last couple of years I have been thoroughly enjoying clothes!! As an older person who shed my post baby weight, I feel like I’m confident about my body and my style.…
• There’s an app ( can’t remember what it’s called) where you put in your measurements and you can see pictures of other women with the same body type. Interestingly research shows that women judge their own bodies much more harshly than they do other women who look just like them.

• The Nutrition tab has the option of a day view for your calories that breaks it down into a pie chart. Not sure that’s exactly what you’re looking for but it might be helpful
• Oh haha. I didn’t think it was that much trouble. I’ve seen posts of people who write the weight of a banana on the peel and then bring the peels home from work to weigh them. That person was worried about how much the peels might dehydrate over the afternoon. So I thought I was taking the lazy way out 😆
• I once lost 1.3 pounds. Was pretty proud of myself 😆. Tbh I never thought I would publicly brag about it though 😬
• I’m not as exact as some people on here - I subtract about 25% of the weight. Same for apple cores and bananas. Too fiddly for me to bring peels and cores home from work. I tried it a number of times and it seems to be a pretty good approximation
• I try to make a connection between the exercise I do and the food I eat. Instead of saying - if I eat these blueberries I won’t be able to eat that cookie, I wonder if it would change the perspective to say, if I go for a walk right now I’ll be able to eat that cookie and the blueberries?
