  • A lighter hummus (35-60calories per 2 tbsp) mixed with some yogurt (Greek or plain non fat works). Add a little bit of water and it is perfecto!
  • everybody has to make their own choices about their diet, so this isn't me saying you should stay a vegetarian because it is the better choice for you because I have no idea. But if you can choose to be cruelty (ish) free as a vegetarian, why not? I have been through the motions of training - bulking/ cutting etc. - on a…
  • Mostly my micronutrients actually! Iron/potassium/vitamins/calcium are pretty important for me as a vegan. Protein is an easy one because we all get so much protein in our diets already, I never have to worry about hitting my goal.
  • Depending on your height and whatnot, perhaps you are eating too low calories? May sound weird, but you should look into calorie cycling/zig zag dieting on higher calories. It can possibly help speed up your metabolism and help you achieve weightloss. Hope that helps!
  • If you want a lot of bang for your calorie (nutritionally speaking too) try this 300 calorie dinner : - 3 turkey meatballs (from trader joes)/150 calorie - 400g cauliflower rices/100 calories - 120g zucchini cubed/20 calories - 130g spinach shredded/30 calories Super easy super filling. Just cook everything separately and…
  • Vanilla rooibos tea (especially the celestial seasonings brand) with 1 Cup of microwaved and frothed cashew milk. Comes out to only 25 calories and I top it off with a couple drops of stevia. I know some people like to add a couple tablespoons of cool whip to make it more decadent but still relatively low in calories. I…
  • Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I will definitely give some of them a shot. But @bellabonbons I totally get what you mean about trigger foods. I can never seem to have just one cookie.
  • Teriyaki kabobs and orange sauce seitan. Kabobs were roughly 200 calories and the seitan was 280 so around 480 calories-ish. More of a light lunch, but it did the trick for dinner last night! The kabobs were super delicious in the teriyaki sauce and baked to perfection. Yum!
  • My lunch (stuffed eggplant) and dinner (vegetable kabobs and seitan) today: Relatively budget friendly depending on the price of produce in your area though. But when I'm on a budget at college I tend to buy a load of carbs aka bread/potatoes/beans and my favorite - lentils. All super cheap but they pack in the nutrients…
  • @amerane No not really haha. I suck at recipes cause we never have all the ingredients. But here's how I made it: - 200g eggplant - 200g zucchini - onion/ garlic to taste - 150g cherry tomatoes - 150g gourd (can be omitted) - 64g cooked brown lentils - Soup base ( this may seem unorthodox, but because I don't like coconut…
  • I've been vegan since my junior year in high school, and now I'm four years out! It's really great that you support your daughter, because coming from an Italian family, vegetarians (let alone vegans) are considered pretty much crazy. Even though my parents were good with it I had to learn to cook for myself, which is just…
  • Well on a weekly basis I only eat dinner at home, but I eat 2 heads of cauliflower, 3 zucchinis, 3 summer squashes, 2 heads of broccoli, 2 bags of spinach and whatever else is in season (tomatoes and bell peppers as of now), but in just one meal you can pack in a whole lot of potassium. For instance, just 400g of…
  • Yeah since I've become vegan I have been watching my iron intake because I don't really believe in supplements. Mostly because I forget to take them, but also just cause i think I can get what I need from my food. Anyways thanks for the input! Good to know there isn't any real danger in going "over".
  • A whole lotta vegetables (: When I used to eat like nobody's business my potassium was at like 500mg!
  • I'm 20 year old female if that makes a difference. But thanks for the advice! I don't have any medical issues, I just want to make sure I'm not giving myself any haha.
  • Yes! I love my cheat day, not even because I get to eat what I want, but because it has helped me lose weight (ironically). Anyways if you are trying to lose weight, lowering your calorie intake for too long eventually becomes less and less effective. But a little break and high calorie day really helps to shake up your…
  • 2000 (: female 5'5 120 lbs (on good days). It feels high for me too but I'm not gaining so I can't complain. Just trying to maintain at a healthy weight right now. Sure I could lose a couple lbs but honestly it's too much of a hassle for such a small pay off.
  • Easy! That's around what I have for lunch. Dinner is around 700. Anyways. - 1/2 C lentils (140) - 120g zucchini (20) - 147g broccoli (50) - 1/4 c Quinoa (160) - 200g cauliflower (50) - 3 Turkey meatballs (150) You could replace the quinoa with 200g more cauliflower for the base. You need to rice the cauliflower ( or buy it…
  • I just finished brewing a good cup of cold brew actually! I find that cold brew makes the flavors really pop and the coffee becomes less bitter. Creamer wise, I like to use 2 cups of cashew milk to 1 ( or 2 ) cups of cold brew coffee. That might sound like a lot, but it ends up being super creamy and delicious. I like to…
  • Honestly I do it all together too just for convenience. I actually use water to sauté the onions and garlic first, and then I add the lentils and a little bit of water. Every now and then I deglaze the pan with more water, but I just find that it comes out a lot better when I use just water and no oil when I cook it this…
