My AW health kit doesn’t send anything to MFP except actual workouts where I turn on the workout tracker. iPhone sends info to MFP that messes up my cals- iPhone health supposedly tells MFP my projected daily burn is based on 2 calories burned all day. Which confuses me because that same day, I’ll check the health app and…

Is there usually a big difference between your total active cals and the workout/planned walking cals, or are they about the same?

I took what a lot of people said to heart and pulled out our digital scale - the fancy one that I can zero out. Because I figured- Everyone says it’s impossible to eat 1200 and exercise and not lose. So I decided to find where I’m going wrong. I think I’m creating at LEAST a 250 cal deficit by eating 1200 (since my bmr is…

I don’t see how logging more carefully will help. No one seems to have heard- I was losing weight. Regardless of how off I was- I tried eating MORE and working out MORE and didn’t lose with OR gain. How could I have added what I thought was 300 cals a day for TWO weeks and not seen any change on the scale- I didn’t even…

I said in my OP I do have a diagnosis as hypothyroid. I lost .5 a week by eating 1200-1400 logging everything and MFP would estimate around 500+ cal deficits daily. MFP would estimate I would lose a pound a week, but I never did. I feel frustrated because I was losing 0.5 a week logging what appeared to be 1200-1400 cals.…

I hate this. I don't know how to log in real life. My husband knows I am trying to eat better, also I have a cold and don't feel great - so he bought me a vegetable soup at a restaurant that he is bringing home. What do I do???? just don't eat it? Log it as 1000 cals? I have no idea what it is. Do I just plan to eat…

I am 5'2" the only 'cheat' I do is when I don't eat 1400 or less. (but I ALWAYS LOG) If I worked out a lot (like ran 8 miles or something) I will have more than the one cookie I allow myself. Even though currently MPF has not been adding my exercise cals. .. but that is a totally separate reason I am beyond frustrated. I…

I have not tried weighing a protein bar.. I am not sure I understand how that will help - but tell me if this is right - if the nutrition label says 270 cals for 59g I should weigh the bar and see if it is actually 59g? If it IS 59g should I log 270? I have just been assuming that the bar is over 59g and logging 292 cals.…

I shifted my macros about a month ago as well - trying to hit 33% protein (adding lots of egg whites and lean protein and hydrolysate collagen protein) but I usually hit around 25 or higher- rarely actually get 33%

yep- correctly logging by measuring liquids with measuring cups and spoons and solid food are weighed with my food scale - same as I have done for a year. I also always round up(overestimate) prepared foods - like I eat a protein bar for breakfast most days and I log 1 and 1/8 bar incase the numbers are off. When I eat…

I think the reason it’s mind bogglingly frustrating is because Apple Activity app has an active calorie section- it doesn’t seem THAT complicated to me to have MFP simply update the added/earned excercise cals from the Activity app Active cals. Done. Simple. Stop with the crazy adding and subtracting with iPhone etc. if…

I am set to a very low activity rating already. I’m annoyed because- pre-Apple Watch, when MFP was working off of my Fitbit steps- it COUNTED an 8 mile run as calories earned. Now that I’m wearing a different device on my wrist, any excercise calories earned are subtracted by my “iPhone adjustment” - it’s insane that if I…
-
I’m having the same problem - my Fitbit would add about 200 cals for 6,000 steps- but my Apple Watch only adds 6 calories...it’s the same number of steps, what gives?? I might just switch back to Fitbit, it was working great, I lost weight following the calorie goals updated by Fitbit. According to Apple Watch, I’ll never…

The NEAT numbers make sense. It looks like it’s aiming for 1600 instead of 1700 (500 cal deficit with 1200 intake)... NEAT makes sense. Yeah, it just means I’m not set up to safely lose 1lb a week. I was just curious about the fact that the numbers don’t add up to 500 deficit cals a day. I’m actually doing pretty well…

Update- I’m not sure it’s the thyroid meds- since I’ve only been on them for 3 weeks now, but my plateau has broken. After 3 mos of stuck at 150- I’m now down to 147, maybe that’s the hypothyroid excess fluid being corrected? Or maybe my body decided to cooperate, lol. I’m eating an average of 1400 (total, not net) a day…

I can't remember who asked it- but yes, I did get my vitamin D levels tested and I was really low, so I am supplementing that as well. I know the RMR test and the extrapolated TDEE won't be 100% accurate, but I am just looking for something closer to accurate than my typing my age, height and weight into a website. I…

I am going to get my metabolic rate tested. I know that I might not be able to determine my AMR or Tdee but.. I figure- if I can find out my ACTUAL RMR and compare that to the RMR that I get on all the online generators- it might give me a good indication of how far off my calorie burn estimates might be.

I did not eat 1200 all week this week. I relaxed a bit.. this is what my calories and net calories look like (based on Fitbit adjustment- which I am sure is over estimating cals burned) ... I had ONE day where MFD said I ate to maintain. I feel it important to add that, yes I weigh and measure my food and when it is…

So if hypothyroid does not slow metabolism- why did my MD say that it is contributing to my difficulty losing weight? And what is the low heart rate and feeling cold all the time? If I have a two month plateau while eating 1200-1400 cals a day (except when I run long distance- then it’s 1800) I can’t see why water weight…
-
This does not seem true to me- that “all thyroid does is cause increased waterweight” It is scientifically proven that people with hypothyroid have lower body temps and lower heart rates - evidence of a slower metabolic rate- this, not just water weight, can make weight loss difficult. If my thyroid was just making me hold…

I was not Dx as hypothyroid until I had blood work done. It took a week for MD to get thru to my insurance company - a week for them to process my prescription and a week to ship. I mentioned this before- but basically- I am allowed under my insurance to get my first 90 days of a prescription at a participating pharmacy,…

I don’t understand why my exercise calorie estimates are the “culprit” in my not losing weight, when I’m not eating back all of the exercise cals. If I eat 1200 cals, regardless of burning an extra 200-300 at the gym, why should that impare my weight loss?? Is my eating 1400 cals total really bad, when my Fitbit says I…

I should get my meds Thursday, according to usps tracking. I’ll do my best to chill mentally as I wait for them to start working. I know it’s gonna take quite some time. In the meantime, logging 1.2 makes sense for pre-packaged food, I’ll try that. And Trinity- I was diagnosed because, while complaining about my current…

I didn’t say 3700 exercise cals- The 3700 cal burn was for the entire day- according to Fitbit, I assume 1600 would have been if I’d done next to nothing, plus I ran 13 miles with hills- that put me around 1600 - so that’s 3200 total- plus I walked all day afterwards- we were visiting a small town, so I was on my feet all…

I’m 39, 5’3” 150lbs with a goal of 125. My TSH is 1.25 and T4 is 1.3 - so in the normal range- but T3 is 2.5 - so not even OFF the scale low, but low for my age and considering my other symptoms (always cold, dry skin etc..) I’m going to be starting on armourthyroid 30mg, my MD wants to test me after 2.5 mos. I’m not sure…

My TSH is normal. My T4 is normal and my T3 is low. But I’m trying to understand how to cope. I’m using the method to lose weight that I KNOW works (and has worked in the past) and now it’s not working. I’m here for help because I am confused and frustrated. You point out that it makes no sense and I agree. By all…

A lot of the blank days are days where I have a negative net calories - like may 12, I ran 13.1 miles, burned 3700 for the day, but ate 2200 so I had a 1500 negative net calories according to Fitbit and MFD. So any Sunday (saturday in the case of that race) day would be that type of blank day. There are occasional blank…

It is important to understand what impact this has on you. Regarding metabolism this almost no impact. Even in the most extreme cases this has ~5% impact from clinical observation. What this may impact is your appetite triggers, energy and sleep - making you feel as if you need to eat and constantly tired. Once medicated…

I’ve heard this before. It sounds too good to be true! I mean- I HATE eating around 1200. Lol, but considering how many people are telling me to up my calorie intake, I guess I should try it for a week, I certainly won’t mind the extra food :) and clearly week after week after week of low low cal isn’t working.

Got tested- looks like I have hypothyroid- MD is prescribing meds.
