  • I got a Fitbit for Christmas, it is not in sync with MFP, I don't know why. I previously had a Garmin, I have deactivated that but it still hasn't helped. Do I need to go in a computer rather than just doing it on my phone?
  • I have my Garmin linked, its the reason I am on here actually.I have a new day each morning so I'm not sure what you mean about being in the red the next day. I have'nt had any problems. Hope this helps
  • I have Brooks, but I only bought my original pair purely for my size & liked the look of them, when I needed a new pair I bought the same again as I have'nt had any problems whilst using them. Have you had your gait analysis done? Just thinking that may help your decision?
  • Thanks All. I've just found it & added a chicken dinner (to try it out) Going to add my breakfast now, as thats usually the same every day. A new toy :)
  • Thanks everyone, what is this recipe builder some of you mention? It sounds handy. Do I find it in the app or website?
  • Same here, they rarely go hungry, might not eat all of what is put in front off them, but then we have fruit & snacks if anyone wants them :)
  • Thankyou everyone! I do most of the cooking & we all have the same, at the same time, I think its nice to sit & eat together while we can, one day it will change when our sons are working & all get in at different times, but for now it works. Our meals are sometimes meat & veg so thats easy to calorie count, as I weigh…
  • I dont drink coffee as it makes me feel thirsty after it. I suppose its going to be personal preference but if you try the herbal teas you will probably find one you like. If I feel cold, I drink lemon & ginger tea, it warms me up. But I am just a normal Typhoo tea bags & semi skimmed milk girl really
  • My first 10k race last year. I joined a beginners running group 18mths ago
  • Thanks Lisa. I'll make sure I eat/drink something earlier on in the run, I think that will really help as I did'nt do that previously. I did eat pasta the night before & had porridge a few hours before I went out though, I'm definately going to get a snack on longer runs this time around as well though. Thankyou
  • Thanks everybody. I'll take onboard all the suggestions. I will make sure I start to drink more water & maybe a sports drink once I'm under way & doing longer runs. I'm going to buy a chocolate clif block just for the hell of it anyway, need to see what it tastes like. I'll definately take jelly beans with me, as I know I…
  • I live in Manchester UK, so I'm not worried about it being too hot!
  • Thankyou. I thought the training was done correctly but maybe not. I myself would prefer to try a distance now ( maybe 8mile) & get used to it for a few weeks, before moving, which is what we did when we moved up to 10k. I cant run on my own though, I need to talk so I'm not thinking about whats hurting or so on. I'm…
  • Me & my running buddy upped the distance a mile a week from 6 mile that we were used to, until the 4th week which was a 10mile race we had enterd. Not fast though, its a personal achievement I'm doing it for. I think we trained correctly?
  • Oh dear, I'm not sure about these gels & you have just put me off abit more
  • Very high fat, does that mean I can lots of chips & chocolate
  • I had lost 1lb when I weighed myself on Christmas Day, but I knew it was due to not eating much & running around the shops...weighed myself this morning & I've put 3lbs on, back to my regular running this week
  • Good idea! I was wondering how to do it, was going to put them in my mobile holder but thats a better idea. Thanks
  • Sounds like I need something about 4/5 mile then to give the boost I need. Thanks
  • With never trying the gels I dont know, but just the thought of having an upset tummy whilst on a long run fills me with dread. Ha
  • Thankyou...think I'll start off with sweets & see if they give me the boost I'll need. Daft question dont they all go gooey & stick together?
  • Thanks thats really helpful, giving me ideas when they kick in etc...I'll need to try the gels just to see which flavour I prefer. Thanks
  • I'm scared of needing the loo if I start to use those gels, but I'll only know if I try! Thanks
  • Thanks, thats probably where I went wrong in the first place, got up to 10 miles & the thought of trying to get to 13 is scaring me now. Good thing though us I like jelly babies
  • I dont class myself as a serious runner, 3x a week with my club and park runs, but I have'nt ventured passed 10k yet, so still fairly new at it, so not needed vo2 etc just yet
  • I started 10 yrs later than you, I have a funny shoulder so not done the weights, but keep saying I want to try. Joined a beginners running group last yr, I feel healthier & fitter than I did 20 yrs ago!
  • I've finally bought a watch, ended up going for Garmin Forerunner 35, which I thought was going to look too big, but its not that bad. Seems to do what I want, only had it couple of days, so dont understand the heart rate monitor/ heartbeat yet. Thanks for comments
  • Rain is good for running in, there is more oxygen in the air, so wrap baby up, put rainhood over trolley & go running anyway, pull your hair up & have a shower when you come back, no one will know you did'nt bother having a shower 1st. Or look at some exrcise videos on You Tube. Hope that helps
  • Well I thought it was the bad stuff I'm eating (chocolate biscuits) but I may have just stumbled onto you lot & not being tall might have something to do with it. I'm 4"11
