  • Hi. I signed up by joining as instructed (not by commenting in the feed). I’m not sure how I’m suppose to know if I was accepted.
  • How has your week been? Gaining focus?
  • I started running when I was around 250 lbs. I started on a treadmill doing just 10 -15 seconds at a time. I increased over time using small goals (30 seconds, 1 minute, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, etc.). I've since run marathons and love the therapeutic nature of running. I totally agree about the post regarding going to a running…
  • After losing 145 lbs and becoming very fit as a runner and muscular, I was out for a run and paused at an intersection. A car came up to the intersection and yielded to the light and I saw my ex sitting in the passenger side of the yielding car staring right at me (of the 4 million people in Houston, I run into this ONE…
  • I think you're trying to control your weight using illogical means. Focus on eating healthy, non-manufactured foods and move your body. Using ANY fabricated means won't be authentic and will only cause you frustration.
  • Exercise doesn't ease cravings. You'd be much better off either finding a substitute for your cravings or giving into them, in moderation. If you pull back too much, you'll binge. This happened to me and I don't wish that on anyone. If you're exercising and not losing, then you may not be eating enough. The other folks…
  • I lost 145 lbs by having the support of my Weight Watchers group and followed their program BUT I became a runner based on reading many, many articles. Same with weight training. Learned it on my own by listening to multiple people. Once I obtained the support of "Professionals", I hated it. I paid for a marathon training…
  • I agree with @MobyCarp My Forerunner 15 pulls from Garmin Connect. Go to "Apps" and install the Garmin Connect app and you should be set.
  • Not sure what you do in the gym, but if you're doing weights, that's a different type of exercise and your muscles desire for protein may increase your appetite. Exercising is an appetite suppressant, as someone else mentioned. That could be your issue with long aerobic efforts. Your desire to sleep after a run may be your…
  • Be careful to suggest or follow the advice of a certain # of cups per day. The 8 glasses of water / day is based on a certain body weight (~130 lbs). Everyone's requirements are different based on their own body. Eight 8oz glasses / day is not sufficient for someone who's overweight (or larger).
  • @@bapcarrier - regarding your question about water. Water is important and it's important that it's real water. Black coffee counts, but coffee with cream and sugar doesn't. Water from fruit does NOT count. Plain iced tea counts, but tea with anything in it does not. Water flushes your body of sodium, which is why it's…
  • So how is everyone doing? Tracking? Getting your water? Moving a little more each day? Keeping a positive mindset??
  • Good morning. I lost 145 lbs back in 2010 by participating in the Weight Watchers online community and attending WW meetings. I learned a lot over these last 7 years. I learned how to eat healthy and how to run and do weights. I also learned that it's really hard to keep it up, when you've been obese your entire life. I…
  • I was a frequent participate in the Weight Watchers community. Mostly the 100+ group and I blogged a lot. Nice to see other WW folks here.
  • Hi all. I gained success by participating in the 100+ group in the Weight Watchers online community (which they've dismantled). If anyone would like support or a kind ear, please feel free to friend me. I lost 145 lbs in 2010 and while I am still struggling to maintain, I did develop really good habits and learned a lot…
  • I am 5' 2", was once 270 lbs and also was dx'd with PCOS. You're not alone. By using Weight Watchers, I lost 145 lbs. I needed the face-to-face meetings and the accountability of walking into a store and weighing in. I was once horribly intimidated by being in front of people for the meetings, but it ended up being the…
  • Sugar is a wide topic. Processed sugar (table sugar) is addicting akin to cocaine. You can give up processed sugar without giving up sugar. Sugar exists in fruit, some vegetables and in natural resources like honey, molasses and real maple syrup. It's a mindset and it is tough...but it is doable.
  • You can't target weight loss, but you can target muscle gain. Focus on strength training. You'll be amazed how "cut" you can get. Planks and other ab-focused weight training exercises will help, but don't forget about your upper and lower body. After I lost all my weight, I began weight training and while I did gain…
  • Up your lean protein and fiber. Look at your meals and add healthy fats and protein to them. Hope you try this and it helps.
  • I'm with you guys. I lose 145 lbs on weight watchers, became an endurance runner and embraced clean eating. The clean eating eventually caused me to binge. My binging has gotten out of control. One "bad item" and I'm off track. I'm now maybe 50 lbs overweight and absoutely miserable. I've developed plantar fasciitis and…
  • When I lived in NY, on icy runs, I'd use older sneakers and screwed in hex-head sheet metal screws. They turned my running sneakers into cleats. Worked very well !
