  • I'm in! Me: 2 LNS: 1 I bought a bag of chips and a bag of cheese curls on Sunday, hence the LNS getting a score. I find that if I'm honest with myself and log my snack binge then it's easier for me not to buy the snacks next time I go to the grocery store.
  • Blargh! I typed up some details about what I did to lose the weight and it didn't post. My goal was to lose 1/2 lb per week. Here's what I did: Logged all my food on MFP. I weigh my food unless I'm eating at a restaurant. If I eat at a restaurant then I'll find a similar meal on MFP and log that, erring on the side of…

  • Week 1: 153.8 lbs Week 2: 152.6 lbs Week 3: 151.0 lbs Week 4: 150.8 lbs Week 5: 149.8 lbs Woohoo! Finally consistently stayed under 155 and hit the 140s after five months! I started running again to get that extra calorie burn and I've been using a Fitbit to track my daily calorie burn and sync it to MFP. Getting that…

  • I logged everything, including my travel/out of town meals (which was my main goal).
  • @pmason I did Strong Lifts 5x5 for about four months, really enjoyed that program. It was a good way for me to move from using the weight machines to using free weights. I have found though, that if I don't switch up my workout routine I get bored. I'm now doing HIIT using videos I find on YouTube. I figure that if my…
  • I love food and wine! I've found that tracking all of the food and alcohol I consume has made me more conscious about it's effect on my calorie intake. That in turn has surprisingly helped me, on more than one occasion, not eat/drink to much. Although some days I just throw caution to the wind with regards to the wine :)
  • Hi Amanda! Whelp, the secret to getting off the soda is willpower. Start carrying a bottle of water and ask yourself " Is this soda really worth it?". After a while soda will become a distant memory that is a once in a while treat. I wish I could tell you there was some magical trick to stop drinking it, but the only way…
  • You can do it!!
  • Regarding protein powder, I like Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein. I did some research and it was always highly rated. I've tried the Deluxe Chocolate, Rocky Road, and French Vanilla Creme flavors. I liked all three flavors so far. The Deluxe Chocolate and Rocky Road are sweet, but I don't mind because it makes it taste more…
  • Here's a Tuesday Sunday meal prep update: On Sunday I found a recipe, on the Epicurious app, called Polenta and Vegetables with Red Pepper Sauce. I had purchased a bag of polenta a couple weeks prior and I wanted to make a dish with it ( I love polenta!). I added all of the ingredients to my shopping list and went grocery…
  • I drink whey protein powder with some almond milk to get that extra boost of protein. Bought a shaker cup off Amazon, which made mixing the powder into the shake much easier!
  • @pmason79 I'm all about freezing! At my grocery store, in the meat department, they have a manager's special area where they are selling meat at up to a 50% discount because it's reached it's sell by date. I always go look at what they have on sale, and on more than one occasion I've bought multiple pounds of organic free…
  • Yeah, that olive oil can be sneaky! A little bit goes a long way. I watch a lot of cooking videos on YouTube and I'm always amused when they say "Add a tablespoon of olive oil" and then they proceed to pour three tablespoons worth  A tablespoon is enough for me to roast two baking sheets worth of veggies!
  • Hello everyone! In the past year and a half I managed to lose 20 lbs through diet and exercise (running and lifting weights). No matter how long I've been exercising for I still never want to do it, but I do anyway because that feeling of accomplishment afterwards is worth it! I have been using MFP pretty religiously for…

  • I bought a 750ml water bottle and it is with me all day long. If I go run errands it is in the car with me, it sits on my desk at work, etc. If I realize that I've been slacking on drinking my water from it I just grab it and chug chug chug! Also, the water you use for tea or coffee counts towards your daily intake.
  • Buy a popcorn air popper and a jar of popcorn kernels. Popcorn is a whole grain and you get a lot of snack for little calories! I also have a spray can of olive oil that I lightly spray onto the popcorn as it pops into the bowl. Add a bit of garlic salt and you have a delicious snack! Frozen fruit is also a good way to…
